Whether you're a Chicago, Detroit, or NY pizza kinda guy, always support local pizzerias. There's something very special about walking into a business that's been able to help create lasting memories for the entire community.
Unos, Nancy's, Yorkshire Pub (RIP), Brunnetti's in Lyons, Come Back Inn (RIP), real food for real people. I miss CHICAGO area. Born and raised 50 years!
What a great pizza tavern. It reminds me of Red's Savoy Pizza 421 E. 7th St. Saint Paul, MN. that we lost a little over a year ago after the owner Red Schoenheider died after running the place for 52 years. He had a recipe that was very similar, thin crispy crust, great sauce, fantastic sausage and other toppings and loads of cheese, never had to ask for extra cheese unless you wanted a heart attack!! I was able to get there on 9-16-17 the last day of business to have a goodbye pie and a few beers. I drove Metro Transit for 36 years and another driver had to give up his table for a bigger crowd, we ended up at the bar with pizza and bus stories to share. Had some leftovers I brought to a friends house the next day to share the last day with him. There are 13 franchise take out places but the original taste and aura are not there! Keep that place going it's a GEM!! If I get down that way I will be there for sure!!
2 things I miss. Italian sausage thin crust Chicago pizza and Britney on Chicago's Best! Both now classics. BUT I can still get the pizza! They need to have Britney do a guest spot from time to time.
I would love to go to Italy hopefully soon.....the taste of Chicago pizza is different than other places..probably the cheese...idk...but Italy is definitely on my bucket list..
everyone has a different taste..even in italy every pizzeria makes the pizza in their own way..this one seems good to me..it looks like the one my father have always done at home for us
I was a PIZZAMAKER for 37 years....FIRST AND FORMOST...TO DO THE VOLUME AND LABOR TO MAKE JUST THE TOMATO BASED SAUCE IS SO COSTLY AND TIME CONSUMING...IT NOT WORTH IT...MAYBE FOR HOME USE...BUT DOES FROM A BUSINESS STANDPOINT...IF YOU PROPERLY SEASON ANYTHING RIGHT...IT SHOULD COME OUT FINE...SECONDLY....THE WAX BAGS AND CARDBOARD CIRCLES...ARE A THING OF THE PAST...YES SOME PLACES STILL USE THEM...BUT HARDER TOO CLOSE A BAG THAT HAS BEEN STAPLED..ON BOTH SIDES AFTER STEALING A PIECE BEFORE YOU BRING IT HOME TOO THE FAMILY..LOL. BOXS ARE MORE MANAGEABLE AND EASIER TO CARRY ESPECIALLY...IF YOU HAVE OTHER THINGS ORDERED...LIKE SODA POP AND OTHER FOOD ITEMS...ALSO MAKE IT EASIER FOR THE DELIVERY PERSON TOO. MOST PLACES DON'T MAKE THEIR OWN SAUSAGE...SOME DO. MOSTLY ALL PLACES MAKE THEIR OWN DOUGH...GRIND THEIR CHEESE( MOST PLACES USE A WHOLE MILK/ PART SKIM BLEND...SOME ADD A LITTLE PROVOLONE TOO THE MIX FOR FLAVOR. REMEMBER...EVERYONE, ITS THE SAUCE AND THE BLEND OF THE RIGHT SPICES THAT MAKE THE PIZZA...DOUGH SECOND...AND INGREDIENTS THIRD....UNDERCOOKING AND OVERCOOKING...WILL PLAY A FACTOR..IN OVERALL TASTING OF THE PIE OF PIZZA THAT YOU ORDERED. AFTER 37 YEARS...NOW I AM A CONSULTANT. SHOULD OF HAD 4 PLACES..BY NOW...BECAUSE OF BAD DECISIONS...I MADE ...NO ONES FAULT BUT MINE...I CAN LIVE WITH IT...WISH I COULD CHANGE THAT...WHO KNOWS???...MAYBE I WIN POWERBALL OR MEGA MILLIONS...THIS UPCOMING DRAWING...AND YES..IF I DO WIN...MARK MY WORDS...I WOULD MAKE MY DREAM A REALITY...AND FROM THR GROUND UP AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN...BUILD MY DREAM RESTAURANT.....AND MAKE MY OWN PIZZA...WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE LEARNED OVER 37 YEARS...JUST TOO SAY ONCE...THAT I DID IT.
Windton Bradford I just had some Italian Fiesta last Saturday and it was so good! 😋 I know exactly were you are talking about. I order from there all the time on weekends and watch a movie on TV. Thanks for sharing!
I miss them too! Their thin crust italian sausage is the best! I couldn't remember the name but I knew it was on Jeffrey. Yes to Italian Fiesta! Definitely going there when I visit again. Thanks for sharing!
Man I've had Rosangelas pizza for many decades, it's the VERY BEST PIZZA!. We moved from Ill. and never forgot it. We wish they'ed ship it. LOL.....Why didn't you get the recipe for the pizza, I'd pay to get it.
Back in 1961 when we were kids we would walk to school and go past this restaurant and steal their donuts in the morning before the restaurant opened. We had no money and that was our breakfast.
Oh please. Sorry to break your hearts, but there is very little different in a plain can of tomato sauce (which is not at all seasoned much) and crushing whole tomatoes. I worked in many a pizza restaurant, and seriously that kind of snobbery doesn't work in the real world. It is in how it is seasoned that counts more, as well as the type of tomatoes themselves, but the later only works in Chicago Style Deep Dish.
They took the labels off so you cant tell what it is. I think there is something fishy going on. But its another pizza place that puts raw sausage on pizza. Ewww. They should cook it on a grill first.
...phil's Phil's PHIL's... is the BEST PIZZA on the PLANET... nuf sed! Phil's Pizzeria 1102 W 35th St Chicago, IL 60609 (south side of Chicago - 35th / Morgan st)
Dude, the TOMATOES are from the can. The other ingredients, not so. It's called editing, and often, pizzerias would not want us to show their sauce-making process, so their secret remained so.

This pizza never gets old lmfaoo. I remember that box design. its greasy crunch and those nicely seasoned Italian sausage with a mild spice.
Born and raised on the great Rosangela's pizza ! ( 45 + years ) and never heard it called tavern style pizza !
Unos, Nancy's, Yorkshire Pub (RIP), Brunnetti's in Lyons, Come Back Inn (RIP), real food for real people. I miss CHICAGO area. Born and raised 50 years!
You forgot Slicker Sam's, behind Come Back Inn (another one that bit the dust).
Had both my kids at Little Company of Mary right across the street and always had a pizza party lol. This is definitely my top 3 of pizzas.

It's Walmart's on 95th & Western- then down the street to Roseangelos. I can barely concentrate-shopping, thinking about that pizza.

I think the thin crust in Chicago is BETTER than NYC, as well as our deep dish.
(I just wanted to say this out loud. :)
You are lying cause people in NYC are from italy and they know how to make pizza.
There are tons of Dagos in Chicago you moron.

I miss my hometown chicago pizza, deep dish or thin crust is the best.
Man I've had Rosangelas pizza for many decades, it's the VERY BEST PIZZA!. We moved from Ill. and never forgot it. We wish they'ed ship it. LOL.....Why didn't you get the recipe for the pizza, I'd pay to get it.
Was thinking of trying this place, but after reading so many reviews talking about the cockroaches, I don't think I will be going.
There aren’t any I have been going for years it is a nice clean place
Back in 1961 when we were kids we would walk to school and go past this restaurant and steal their donuts in the morning before the restaurant opened. We had no money and that was our breakfast.
Looks like home run inn
Home Run Inn is saltier...
“They make their own sauce” meanwhile the dude opened up two cans of it earlier lol
Great Minds Think Alike
He meant to say they open there own sauce.
Sauce comes in big cans then you add spice and water.to the pizzerias recipe.im a pizza cook not far from their.
They are crushed tomatoes 😂
Gotta try it, gotta try it. My mom loves the way it's cut. So a long with the cut we've gotta try the taste.
Wax paper carry-out bags! YES! That's how we used get our carry out pizzas no matter where we went. I miss those (Screw the boxes).
cdfreester Yes! that was cool to see, when I was a kid thats what they put pizza in when we picked up a carryout. Chicago has the best food.
Yep. Takes me back. Always got excited when the folks brought those in! Like gift wrapped!!
Thats cheap if they dont have boxes.
I'm here in Brazil, I'm Brazilian and I'm loving this channel!
Tylko i wyłącznie familijna z Biedry! 💥😁

Joliet location rocks as well.
Yummers
holy hell future Alexis Sanches @2:31

Looks better then Vito and nicks.
That is exactly what pizza should look like. St. Louis pizza is the same except they put NASTY provel cheese.
i love pizza
I just watched over 20 video's and every place was Chicago's best, how can that be.
It's based on comments of what people think is the best.
It's the name of the show
2:32 Homemade sauce from a can... just like mom used to make!
I love 🍕🍕 🍕🍻😋
Going here soon😋😊💯🙌
>they made their own sauce
>1 minute before shows a guy opening a dozen of canned tomato sauces
probably just a tomato base, they add their own spices. Only thing they didn't do was blend tomatoes... Only a guess though.
I noticed that too, but that was just the tomato base probably, like Brad wrote.
Oh please. Sorry to break your hearts, but there is very little different in a plain can of tomato sauce (which is not at all seasoned much) and crushing whole tomatoes. It's not like the sauce you get for spaghetti. This is just smoothie grind tomatoes. Magic happens with seasonings and spices.
SUPER SUPREME PIZZA 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I ate there once LOVED IT just as much as I LOVE Home Run Inn 🍕 😋
In a bag!! The way it should be!
\
not sure if they made there own sauce, but I'm sure it taste good

Chicago's Best Pizza 🍕 h
2:28.... 1:32
Why do you call it “Chicago’s Best” when it’s NOT in Chicago???!!!
Joe M
Because, certain people that moved out the city can't let go.....
Chicagoland area is just as good as Chicago. You'd be missing out on a lot of good eats just focusing on 1 area.
Queen Ki - It’s not in Chicago, and there are plenty of places IN CHICAGO so why go outside of Chicago and call it Chicago’s Best???
Evergreen Park is a suburb that is right next to the city
Sean Johnson - I know, but it’s NOT in Chicago.
*Gordon Ramsay Comes In*
WHERES THE LAMB SAUCE?
ITS BLOODY RAW!
Gordon is then shot dead. This is Chicago.

Giordano 's is the best in Chicago.
Garbage pizza. That’s not even in Chicago. Milanos, not too far away, is the best pizza in the world
Evergreen park is not chicago!!
Relax... It's right on the border...
This pizza is below average..
Sauce from a can... really 🙄
Dude, the TOMATOES are from the can. The other ingredients, not so. It's called editing, and often, pizzerias would not want us to show their sauce-making process, so their secret remained so.
Where is the black ppl
A round pizza should be pie cut 🍕 not square cut.
Joe M u haven’t lived, till u tried one of those middles pieces. 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Lucy Blue - I hate those middle pieces. Pie cut is the only way.
