also the 'not eligible for rehire' is FULL bs, these companies will usually rehire you almost immediately if you come back (it's your own pride that makes it difficult lol)
I quit a job the same way. Was told the exact same thing. You need to give 2 weeks notice. I was like you wouldn't do that for me. They said they needed to find my replacement. I said that's your problem not mine
I've read in China, management starts finding out you've quit when you are a No-Show on Monday. Confirmation is when they call your cellphone and find out that number is no longer in service.
I worked at a pizza place once. We had a really decent manager who worked really hard to meet labor and sales goals and treated all of the employees with a lot of respect. The owner of the restaurant wasnt happy with the labor numbers (he insisted on 20% or less, even though the national average for the chain was 27%). He owner would also frequently get upset with me for taking too long to make the dough. If you don't know about how dough is made, a lot of the time it takes depends on things like temperature and humidity, aka the weather. I cant control those things so sometimes dough would take a half hour longer than my scheduled shift. I was fine with staying late, but the owner hated it. Anyway, the owner decided that the manager wasn't following instructions (to keep labor under 20%) so he fired him. No notice. The next day, the owner got on my case about taking too long to make the dough. I didnt know that he'd fired the manager the day before. After getting chewed out, I did some malicious compliance and ran the dough at the speed the owner wanted it done. It turned out like garbage. Woe to anyone who bought pizza made with that dough. On the last stack of pizza skins (thats what the raw pizza dough is called) I wrote, "I quit."I didnt say anything to the owner. No notice given. That evening I texted the manager to tell him I'd quit and he texted back saying that he'd been fired the previous day and we comiserated a bit about the owner being a jerk. The following afternoon I received an angry text from the owner about quitting without notice. My only reply was that I had no interest in having a confrontation. TL:DR - my boss fired my manager and then got pissed off when I quit with no notice.

I had a job where I kindly told my manager that I was resigning in 2 weeks. He, however, didn't put me down for my resignation on the day I was leaving and had me on the system for 2 weeks after I left with no call no shows. I had to call HR for someone to officially put my resignation down. My manager not putting my resignation when I gave him a 2 week notice really showed me that the company will try to punish you for leaving them. Fuck that company that promotes the wrong people for management. I could've just left the company without notice but decided to be civil and give them a 2 week notice, and even then, they didn't bother to do their part and put my resignation down officially when I left the company. Fuck that manager. I'm glad I left when I did.
Eligible for rehire? Laughs and laughs... minimum wage job? I want one where I wear jeans and listen to music next time. Not lift 70lbs over and over for 8 hrs and cry when I get home.
When school is on, I work at the college bookstore as a S/R clerk. They play dance music and I can dress casual (no tie required). In the summer I do union labor work. The bookstore pays $15.75/hr and the union pays $39.11/hr. I have a hard time deciding if I like the work environment of the bookstore more than I like the pay of the union.
Yeah I feel like companies forget this or really try to hide this. Like the two week notice thing is a courtesy. There's no legal requirement to give notice to your employers of your intended departure. Technically speaking if you really wanted to be a dick you could probably just stop showing up at work without telling anyone. Try as they might if you decide you don't want to work somewhere there's really nothing they can do to keep you there
@@sfrcma8449 Naturally if you have a contract that specifies a two week notice is required, you are obligated to give it. Mostly it's not contractually required, so two weeks notice is a courtesy.
I, belgium, by law, the employer must use registered mail to fire you. The worker should get a signature from employer for receipt of notice, if he does not use registered mail . When a worker gets fired he needs the hard copy to claim unemplyment benefits, and also for being let go (into early retirement) for medical reason.
Yeah and we would all prefer better pay and better hours and better benefits but y'all ain't concerned with that so I'm not concerned with your two week notice . We all know they're not really going to call and check anyway so posture all you want to. That's why you do like our friend Veronica here and get the new job first. Then you don't have to worry about any possible badmouthing
If they let you go without notice, they have to pay you unless you did something horrible. Same way, if you signed a contract that said you are rewuired tp give notice then you should give notice or forfeit certain payments. Check your country'svlabour laws to see whst applies.
I could leave my job without giving a two week notice but I will lose rehire status and getting my pto money. So think twice about leaving without a two week notice and at least know what you will be losing out.
these corporate rules are legally not enforcable in India. if a company puts a pressure like these onto you then feel free to show your middle finger to them. Can't do anything to you. In fact, if they went to court then the company would be charged for illegal conduct.
