    I do not comment often on reviews but your approach is refreshing and honest. I’ve been contemplating a purchase of a zero bike for quite some time. Your take on this type of bike is on point sir *applause*! You are correct, key word in review is “nimble”. Each one of us needs to assess what they plan to use the bike for… good job.

      Thank you! Means a lot. I’m a huge fan of Zero. But I’m still an objective journalist and I’m happy to note things they need to address. Somewhat in the build quality as I mentioned in this video. But I think they’re taking strides in the right direction.

    It's a nice EV-moto, but the low range coupled with a lack of fast charging really limits its usefulness in my opinion. I can't see a reason to buy one of these for anything other than daily short distance commuting?

    • @Jordan_Schiefer
      @Jordan_Schiefer 3 роки тому +11

      That's its intended purpose. Zero has other bigger bikes with double (or more) the battery and faster charging for those uses. For anything less than 20-40 miles one-way this would be perfect, or more if you have charging at the destination!

      Electric bikes MUST, MUST, MUST have at a minimum 200 miles highway range and 15 minute quick charging at the very minimum. When you go for a ride or group ride you can’t be the one holding up the festivities. If you are traveling from point A to B then the range an overriding factor.

    no more range than the FXS, no cornering ABS, no traction control, no Type 2 charging, only 110 km realistic range for 70 % of the price of a used SR/F - no thank you. This will have no value on the used market in 5 years.

    It saddens me that I can see Zero getting left behind. It’s just a fxs in drag. 9h charge time, come on! My 2019 C Evo has a much bigger battery and can charge in less than 5 hours at home. An I consider the charge time to be absolutely the worst thing about the C evo but I let it off as it is a design that dates back to 2014. Give the FXe fast charging and it would be game changing. Come on Zero, your going to get left behind.

    • @crashandburn1973
      @crashandburn1973 3 роки тому

      I do, heat is the limiting factor to charging. See my point regarding the Evo battery which is larger but charges in half the time, the SFS, the SFF, Energica etc etc, even most Chinese scooters charge faster. I would buy a FXE tomorrow if it were not for the change time.

    I am quite disappointed. Yeah, the design is cool. Personally, I do like the "common" FXS more. But I really miss a faster onboard charger. Like a 2-3kW one. I really hope they upgrade the FXS with the new Fariasis battery --> +25% capacity. The onboard charger I could do myself. The best ever feature would be a variable (potentiometer) and a stronger recuperation / regen. Then, I order the bike next year.

      Potentiometer throttle or variable braking?

    • @marcschneider7338
      @marcschneider7338 3 роки тому

      @@user-lc8rh9uj5l Yeah, I did it on my 7kW e-Bike and it's great. You connect a Potentiometer on the handle bar and by pressing you can achieve the desired regen strenght. Much more as the max in custom settings. The best thing would be to touch the break levler in order to close the electrical contact but not activate the brake pads yet. With the contact closed, the controller knows you want to regen. In order to smoothly apply the desired regen, you twist the throttle (which acts as regen now). Or you develop a two direction throttle. Twist it backwards to regen. Any of this approches would be nice. You could regen fast and to a halt without the breakpad engaged. Of course the regained energy would be much higher, what is nice with this small battery anyway.

    • @user-lc8rh9uj5l
      @user-lc8rh9uj5l 3 роки тому

      @@marcschneider7338 aren’t there potentiometer brake handles already that could be put where the clutch used to be? I feel like that would be a lot more simple than a two direction throttle but if you prefer that, it actually sounds pretty cool.

    • @marcschneider7338
      @marcschneider7338 3 роки тому

      @@user-lc8rh9uj5l It dont have to be a break handler, but it's a good idea. Since Sevcon Controller do support the this, let call ist stronger regen, it would be the first thing I wanted to add myself. But one want to consider the amount of Amperes produced during the regen. It could with ease be more the li-ion cells can support as max charge.... But anyway. The feature would be amazing. Imagine to ride down the alps without the need of break pads. If ever you build an ebike, choose the KELLY KLS Sinewave controller. You then can add the feature with a 5 USD (or better) potentiometer :-)

      @@bhasselgren I’m not afraid to rip apart vehicles that deserve it. But this is objectively one of the best EV motorcycles in the industry, and it deserves its due praise. Is it for everyone? No, and it’s not even perfect for me. But I would love it as a second “commuter” bike. And I mentioned that, especially in my written review. The range is the only major downside, but that’s subjective to the individual. Cost is the same way. Some people wouldn’t blink twice at $10k+, and some could never imagine spending that on a “toy”. It’s easy to be impressed on a first ride, and that’s what this is. I never said it was a review.
