Hi Erika, long time lurker that just had to pop in and say I love your videos. Thanks for always giving us great/helpful information; the hard work you put in is always evident in your fab content!
I don’t believe that these plants are “low light” as some people claim. I keep mine about four feet from a window and two feet from a shelf with grow lights and they seem to love it. They are constantly growing and even flowering. I keep the soil damp all of the time. When the top of the soil begins to dry out I give it some more water. I do not drench it but just make sure that all of the soil remains damp. It must help keep the humidity level at a little place that they are comfortable with while also giving them the O2 that they need. I do use spring water or filtered water on them. I don’t think that distilled is necessary. Have not used a commercial fertilizer on them. I added worm castings to the soil and have had good results.
Help! I have plants with exactly what you have on edges of 3:09. Rounded brown spots that look papery and sometimes the bright yellow around it. I can’t seem to find out what it is! Really enjoy your channel.
I am having a leaf curl issue with my maranta. The soil is not dry, but not soggy. I do water it regularly, usually small amounts more frequently to ensure it doesn't dry out. I put it in the bathroom when anyone is taking a shower so that it gets humidity...I wonder if the roots are having an issue uptaking water? Maybe I'll take it out of the pot today and have a look.
Do you think using pebbles in bottom of cache pot with a little water would give it enough humidity? Mine was bone dry when I bought it and roots are coming out of bottom of nursery pot. Not repotting till possibly spring. Just curious if putting the pebbles in there is good.

Hello, can you tell what is wrong with my prayer plant? It’s bending down the other way, it’s not curled it’s just bent the other way instead of standing up
My flowers were orange BUT they were down at the bottom, in between the stems. I can never find a picture of them online and why they bloomed in such a way!
I am terrified bringing them home since I live in a very dry place. So... unless I get a humidifier, I won't be getting one anytime soon. Thanks for the video :)
You can bring them into the bathroom with you when you shower! I bring my humidity-loving plants into the bathroom and set them on my closed toilet seat while I shower. I like hot showers, so my bathroom gets nice and steamy. They really seem to like it!
Great video, thank you! so glad you covered colour intensity a bit. I've recently ordered one and was quite disappointing to see the plant I received had very faded spots. It's good to know it doesn't mean it's unhealthy or anything but do you think placing it under grow lights would make the spots darker or would that just influence the new growth moving forward?
What do you with all the dead flower stems?! I feel like my plant has more flowers than leaves and it looks kinda sad, it’s not full like it used to be.
I propagated a cutting from my big prayer plant and it seems to be growing and taking to the soil ok...it has put out quite a few new leaves since I planted it in soil...but all the new leaves are very small...like maybe 1/4 of the size of the original leaves...is this typical? I bought my original prayer plant when it had just 7 leaves and they were all normal big leaves and each new leaf unfurled the same large size. Not sure if this is just normal for a new propagation and it'll take time before it puts out larger leaves? Or do the small leaves mean it is deficient in something?
Hi Erika! Thank you for the helpful video. I have maranta red and I love it so much. But I have been losing some of the reddish purple on the underside of the leaves. I have it about 10 feet back from one east facing and one north facing window. Do you think this could be from too much sun or too little? Thank you for any tips you can give!
I was wondering what sort of fertilizer you use? I have a Geoppertia zebrina and was wondering what would work best, and I have heard that they can be pretty sensitive. Thanks!
I use Alaska Fish Fertilizer & dilute it more than I would for my other plants (based on bottles directions). If you aren’t into the smell, any 1-1-1 fertilizer should be okay. You can even dilute that a little more too just to be safe
HELP. i've recently gotten a small maranta that looks exactly like the one you propagated (the leaves are small, colors not too bright, and some yellow/brown on the leaves). when I first got it, I didn't know it didn't like tap water and I didn't know it needed a lot of humidity. But after maybe 2-3 days, I started boiling my water and letting it cool to water it, and I've added small cups of water around the area to increase humidity. I feel like there's more and more browning/yellowing on the leaves every day and I'm not sure if it's getting worse or if I should just wait it out a bit before it gets better. (note: I'm trying not to get a humidifier) any tips are welcome!!
Hi. I've had my rabbit's foot for two weeks now. It was really healthy and happy at first because it would give out blooms every other day but now it isn't and the supposed flowers come out dry (looking like dried up petals/tiny brown sticks as they come out of their stem). They no longer move or close up. The leaves are not curling inward too, so I assume they're not dry since their leaves feel felty and soft (not crunchy) and the soil is moist. Only two of its leaves make small movements and are just closed up (they're the leaves closest to the flower stem, they look like they've been hiding/protecting the whole flower stem from something?or from light? they don't open too.)
