Wow! Dem leaves are huge! 1:55. I thought they were called prayer plants because I needed to pray for them..which I did but they died.🤣 one day i might try again...🤷‍♀️ I don't know how you do it with all your plants. This week was a challenge for me. I kept asking my plants "didn't I water you already? What are you doing? Sorry...we're you thirsty?"

I had these plants for years. I chopped off all the stems, and new stems grew out of the soil 3 months afterwards. The new stems & leaves look perfect. The new stems were born in a low humidity home, and don't need humidity.

@@sammzo529 the pattern on the prayer plant...the regular version doesn't need special humidity. It's fine in the winter with the furnace running. The red prayer plant, and other versions DO NEED special humidity

I Absolutely Love the Maranta that I have! It is growing like crazy. It is so Awesome! It loves my grow light bulbs that I put into a regular desk lamp. I have a large pebble tray under it. It flowers quite often and is growing like crazy. I fertilize every time I water.Thank you so much for sharing.

I don’t believe that these plants are “low light” as some people claim. I keep mine about four feet from a window and two feet from a shelf with grow lights and they seem to love it. They are constantly growing and even flowering.
I keep the soil damp all of the time. When the top of the soil begins to dry out I give it some more water. I do not drench it but just make sure that all of the soil remains damp. It must help keep the humidity level at a little place that they are comfortable with while also giving them the O2 that they need. I do use spring water or filtered water on them. I don’t think that distilled is necessary.
Have not used a commercial fertilizer on them. I added worm castings to the soil and have had good results.

I am having a leaf curl issue with my maranta. The soil is not dry, but not soggy. I do water it regularly, usually small amounts more frequently to ensure it doesn't dry out. I put it in the bathroom when anyone is taking a shower so that it gets humidity...I wonder if the roots are having an issue uptaking water? Maybe I'll take it out of the pot today and have a look.

I propagated a cutting from my big prayer plant and it seems to be growing and taking to the soil ok...it has put out quite a few new leaves since I planted it in soil...but all the new leaves are very small...like maybe 1/4 of the size of the original leaves...is this typical? I bought my original prayer plant when it had just 7 leaves and they were all normal big leaves and each new leaf unfurled the same large size. Not sure if this is just normal for a new propagation and it'll take time before it puts out larger leaves? Or do the small leaves mean it is deficient in something?

HELP. i've recently gotten a small maranta that looks exactly like the one you propagated (the leaves are small, colors not too bright, and some yellow/brown on the leaves). when I first got it, I didn't know it didn't like tap water and I didn't know it needed a lot of humidity. But after maybe 2-3 days, I started boiling my water and letting it cool to water it, and I've added small cups of water around the area to increase humidity. I feel like there's more and more browning/yellowing on the leaves every day and I'm not sure if it's getting worse or if I should just wait it out a bit before it gets better. (note: I'm trying not to get a humidifier) any tips are welcome!!

Hi. I've had my rabbit's foot for two weeks now. It was really healthy and happy at first because it would give out blooms every other day but now it isn't and the supposed flowers come out dry (looking like dried up petals/tiny brown sticks as they come out of their stem). My maranta also stopped moving. It has most of its leaves fully open, like the leaves look wilted but they aren't even dry or turning yellow/brown, but are firmly bent literally downward and all the way to their stems. They no longer move or close up. The leaves are not curling inward too, so I assume they're not dry since their leaves feel felty and soft (not crunchy) and the soil is moist. Only two of its leaves make small movements and are just closed up (they're the leaves closest to the flower stem, they look like they've been hiding/protecting the whole flower stem from something?or from light? they don't open too.) I have this maranta 6ft away from my south-facing window where it gets medium/low indirect light, but it just looks so sad. How do I get my maranta to respond again? :(

My maranta red has slowly lost my interest. It bloomed twice, & while really pretty, it has went down hill since then.. Lost some leaves & the new one has yet to unfurl & its been almost 3 weeks. The two leaves I have are semi curled up. It's crazy frustrating. A 2.5 leaf plant is not pretty 😨

Oh dear, it could be that your maranta wasn't very happy when it flowered in the first place. Aside from flowering to show that they're content, plants are known to push out flowers when they feel stressed in order to ensure the survival of the species 😅 Perhaps you've watered it too much? Every 3-4 days? Maybe it's in a kind of soil which retains a bit too much water?
Or, it could be that your maranta was indeed thriving when it flowered, but the flowering is known to exhaust the plant, and your did it twice.
Maybe give it some more time? And don't water too often since 2,5 leaves can't photosynthesize as much, thus, they don't spend/transpire the same amount of water.

Sorry I rambled so much 😅 I remember being in your shoes, doing so much research all over the internet. Now I'm just happy to spare you or anyone else the trouble. 😂
