Jurassic Park premiered in 1993. The film's special effects were groundbreaking, and the film became a true blockbuster. The Stan Winston Studio crew worked to create effects for the film that were so monumental, terrifying, and dramatically compelling that the film would end up spawning one of the most famous and successful film franchises of all time.
You'll definitely want to feast your eyes on this lesson in which Rob Hinderstein breaks down the #painting processes he used 30 years ago. From there, you can apply these same techniques to your own pair of lifelike creature eyes! (With these techniques, your creature eyes are sure to be dino-mite?)

So for the T-Rex eye, it was based on an eagle eye? Kinda ironic since the Jurassic Park T-Rex is known for its bad eyesight. The work on the eyes looks amazing tho! I'm especially a fan of the Raptor eyes!

Also unintentionally scientifically accurate because T. Rex actually have better eye sight that eagle.

T.rex had eagle eyes, Raptors had snake eyes and Spinosaurus had crocodile eyes, that's awesome

Except raptors and spinosaurus should also have eyes looking similarly to birds eyes.

I Started making eyes before I was ten years old. Damn I wish I had had this video back Then. Just incredible the amount of knowledge youse guys put out!
My dad started taxidermy over sixty years ago. Matter of fact he did a batch of fish today and he's almost eighty one.
He used to make a lot of his own eyes back in the day when they were really expensive. So as a kid in the mid-90s... He would turn me loose making big batches and even letting me experiment!
I started iterating on his molds, overall process, and coloring / finishing techniques. Even though His workshop is small and it's just a one-man show... He did some incredibly cool things and on a large scale in some instances. Meaning I had access to 50 gallon drums of silicone mold making material, acrylic, and all types of resins to use at my leisure. He went through several 50 gallon drums per month so there was no shortage of material. I didn't have to be as conservative as I would be if I was buying small quantities of expensive materials. So I got to experiment a lot!
Although he did use that material and equipment for a few tasks in taxidermy... It was mainly used for his development and marketing of synthetic mother Pearl and Ivory. Which he developed and sold to the gun and knife industry as well as countless others. So having all of that material around me I could really experiment. I really should have documented some of that stuff to share with other taxidermists.
Damn I wish I had had this video back Then. Just incredible the amount of knowledge youse guys put out!
I didn't go down that particular path of creativity... But man those memories are great and I'm sure helped form my interest in creating and engineering /problem solving

The fanboy and artist part of me likes the raptor eyes with the cat pupil. But he paleo-nerd in me wishes that they had gone for an eye similar to the T-rex for the raptor.

In Jurassic Park 3 raptors have more accurate eyes.

Would they put subtitles in Spanish?

Was the pupil animated using CGI? I could imagine something like latex under a resin housing for an animated eye which would be masked by the rainy car window so the audience couldn't see, but I'm now assuming it was CGI since I couldn't find any explanation as to how it was done.
