Scotch eggs are a traditional British dish. Really clever chefs can make them with the yolk still slightly runny in the middle. They also make great picnic food as they can be eaten cold.
@e.v.emmons8567 Matter of personal taste to be honest. As a Brit I love dipping my toast 'soldiers' in a runny yolk on a soft-boiled egg (British eggs are safe to eat soft boiled)
Hi Ryan ! For the eggs you are actually supposed to only put them when the water is boiling. They cracked because you dropped them in a way the shell craked because of impact contact with the pot. You should gently place them in the boiling water using a spoon or a tiny strainer. Hope this can help. (Also 7 minutes is the perfect time for them to stay in ;) )
Honestly, this was one of the most fun videos you posted. I also notice Ryan is creeping very close to 300k subs, and besides the video, reading the comments here are a joy. So here's hoping Ryan reaching 1 million subs by end of the year and also shoutout to all you fellow commenters giving a positive vibe down here! Amen.
This was an awesome one to watch. I actually made some scotch eggs for dinner tonight after watching this this morning before work and they came out awesome!. I had never heard of a scotch egg until watching you this morning. Now I'll be making them all the time!
You & Your friends all dressing up for the Ren Fair was epic. My son just spent the weekend at our local one. Great timing. I will have to show him your video.
Ryan since you just got new tires for the van, the air pressure may not be the same has on the factory door sticker. Look on the tire around the bead area and it will tell you what is the recommended air pressure for those tires. Happy Trails !
Best way I've discovered to do boiled eggs is to start them in cold water, bring to a boil, shut off the heat, cover and let sit for between 10 & 15 mins. depending on how hard boiled you want the yolks.
Hey Ryan jus’ a heads up for smoked turkey legs, you can actually do that cuz you have an oven and with the right set up it can happen not only for the turkey but all kinds of foods, I like that you inspire to cook. I had a restaurant for over 30 years and hats off to a gamer (my youngest son does that too) makin’ a livin’ and traveling’ throughout the continental USA while livin’ in a van, hats off to you my friend but one thing I wanna ask is if you will try the wilted (killed) West Virginia salad with the apple cider vinegar cuz I live in NC and that’s the way it’s truly supposed to be made. You won’t regret it and almost positive it will be a favorite on your menu 😋♥️🥰
The grill was fine, you just needed a wire brush to scrape it down once the fire burned the rust and other residue off. Then you just spray it with pam or any spray grease since it had a lift hinge. I grew up camping as a child over 50 yrs ago and that is what my daddy did to the grills but he had a grease rag he would use to wipe the grills with.
Geez, you got it down... Filming, editing, cooking, cleanliness, presentation. I'm so impressed. 🧀 If the steak is lame I cut it into thin strips or tiny pieces and pan fry in butter. Then sprinkle on a good garlic powder or minced garlic and salt. I'm sure you know this trick.
Just wanted to say thanks for the episode where you couldn't find crabs but did find the container of crab meat. I had no idea it could be bought that way, I have since found some myself :) Actually had several meal ideas from you, really appreciate it.
You really should go up to PA, there's Plenty of primative camping up that way. All thruought "The Wilds" there's tons of camping! I do think it's hilarious that you're cooking up "Ren Foods" - As a former "Cast member" of the Bristol Ren Faire in Wisconsin, most of the food vendors were something we stayed away from, especially the turkey legs! LOL
You can just put aluminum foil over grates like that. You get a little less smoke flavor, but it's clean. And it doesn't drip grease and make flare-ups happen. But still gives food great grill marks and tastes like smoking over the fire. Or even cut a couple slits in the foil over the open part of the grates for more smoke flavor. Just a little lifelong boondock lover pro tip. Love the content. Been almost a week, and I've almost finished bingewatching your entire channel. Starting from the very beginning.
Congratulations Ryan. You're in my top 5 faves on UA-cam and the only one in that top 5 who'll have ne watching their videos twice. I never watch videos twice but your's are just that good 👍👍
It's actually best to boil eggs in boiling water. Just don't drop them in there, but instead better to place the egg on a spoon and gently lower it in the boiling water to prevent it from cracking 😉
You don’t have to get the light replaced Ryan, I have the same van, I do the same thing and tap it but do it after you start it, then it’ll go out, if not it’ll go off when you hit a bump down the road lol
Ryan There's probably a reset button that u hold for a second some where for that dashboard light - my scions was in the glove after u open on the side - like the box was made smaller for a flush area I'm not sure which side the stick or the window side where it became flat for the button.
hi im from israel and Im watching your videos for a long time... and im so glad that your videos part of my life because our life is insane right now ❤❤
Ahh yes, the Maryland Rennfest scotch egg. I know it well. Alas, now that I have moved to the other side of the city the drive is a bit much. I mostly just miss the mead/cider thing ("Bee sting"??, can't remember).
Love your videos my brother ryan always with the amazing content god bless 🔥❤️ a little late but i always support no matter what brother happy monday sending positive vibes
Browsed the comments and didn't see it mentioned, but since you have aftermarket A/T tires on your van, you should go by the sidewall pressure rating and not the sticker in the door, since that's for the OEM tires. Great video, had me laughing as always dude
Ryan, a lot of great video time! You’re getting so good at this 💯. A nice variety of Faire deliciousness. Yum. But the best part was the Scotch eggs, perfectly cooked, crisp. I practically swooned when I heard the best CRUNCH when that first bite happened!!! Well done Ryan 👏👏👏
Lower the eggs in with a spoon next time. And yes, you're supposed to wait until your water boils and then put them in add salt. 12 minute timer should be perfect. Take out. Have ice bath ready
Ok. I haven't watched the video yet. But I had to let you know, that's the first time a thumbnail has gripped my attention in literal seconds. EDIT: This is the best.
Hey Ryan.. You've done quite a few recipes now & I'm sure you've got more coming... If you haven't thought about it might be a good idea for a Cookbook merch.. Just say'in.. Big fan, keep the vids coming.. 🙏 🇺🇸 ✌
Long time listener, first time caller 😂 you’re my favorite non cooking show cooking show on you tube ✌️ im an auto factory worker and I envy your life, the “boring and lonely” parts and all ❤ Love from Detroit
I just like to imagine that Ryan's van is like Hermiones bag in Harry Potter. "Hey Ryan do you have a spare renaissance outfit i can borrow?" "Sure thing, in the back of the van, behind the ebike, next the waterpump on the top rack shelf. Suit yourself!" 😂
awesome editing, the amount of labor into just the cook alone and to cut each bit like u did is admirable
Scotch eggs are a traditional British dish. Really clever chefs can make them with the yolk still slightly runny in the middle. They also make great picnic food as they can be eaten cold.
The 'really clever' chefs can keep 'em. Runny egg yokes are disgusting. I'd rather have them like Ryan made them.
@e.v.emmons8567 Matter of personal taste to be honest. As a Brit I love dipping my toast 'soldiers' in a runny yolk on a soft-boiled egg (British eggs are safe to eat soft boiled)
English food is revolting.
Beans for breakfast?
Raw boiled eggs covered in pig?
No wonder the UK is becoming New Delhi.
Nothing beats a scotch egg and a bag of sweet and onion crisps
Black pudding mixed with the sausage meat....solid 10 everytime

That's not necessarily true. You can do either way, put them in cold water and then boil or put them in in boiling water.
Cold or boil works. Boil time changes.
Just don't drop them from low Earth orbit.
A little tip with boiling eggs, put them in when it’s part boiled AND don’t drop them in🤣🤣 place them on a spoon and gently in😅

It’s ok Ryan regarding the deep fried Oreos. You had your hands full. Lol. Scotch eggs have been on my food bucket list for years. Nice job.
Awesome job on recreating the food. Turkey leg looks good but the smoking ing is the key. Mac and chz bite looked way better than the fair 👍😋
You & Your friends all dressing up for the Ren Fair was epic. My son just spent the weekend at our local one. Great timing. I will have to show him your video.

Eating good while camping! Can't say I was expecting the video to start at my all time favorite ren fair!

If you’re still in Maryland Ryan, check out Bushkill Falls in Pennsylvania. Beautiful there
Your vlogs are such a joy to watch😹 Your personality is hilarious😹
We need a van life cook book.
Most definitely! I’d put money down in a heartbeat 👍

Ryan I just found your channel a few weeks ago and you've quickly become my favourite UA-camr! Also I love how diverse your group of friends are ❤
You need your Frisbee to fan that fire. Or a starter phone plate works.. Do it really fast and the flame right back up with no smoke.
Best Cooking Channel on UA-cam

On the east coast you definitely got to go to Michigan lots of woods lower and upper part........
Keep up the great work!!!!

Same here hey
Loved me a scotched egg! We do ours with a soft to runny yoke. Tip lol don’t microwave to reheat 😂they tend to explode
It's actually best to boil eggs in boiling water. Just don't drop them in there, but instead better to place the egg on a spoon and gently lower it in the boiling water to prevent it from cracking 😉
The MD Renn Faire! A highlight every year! Glad you had a good time!
cooking tip add salt to water when boiling eggs, it helps separate the shells
My wife and I just hit the Renaissance festival in MD Sunday. It was great! Take care

You need a portable smoker. Grilla grills makes an amazing one for travel
Now you in my neck of the woods! I love your vids bruh!
really enjoyed this video bro keep up the good work
Ryan man ur one of my favorite UA-camrs everytime I see u post I gotta watch right then n there lol
❤ Thanks Ryan. Enjoyed the video as usual. Would love to try to make the scotch eggs 😋.
Always cover your pots when you're going to boil something, even if it's a piece of foil. Things will boil quicker using less propane.
You’re pretty smart when the weather is getting cold you come back home where it’s safe!
hi im from israel and Im watching your videos for a long time... and im so glad that your videos part of my life because our life is insane right now ❤❤

The Scotch egg looks like a Dutch (Groningen to be exact) called snack; the “eierbal”. Instead of meat you use ragout and deepfry it. Worth the try!
Enjoy watching your videos. I cook Turkey legs - those weren’t cooked enough. Be careful with uncooked poultry.
With scotch egg you really need a sauce on the side! Usually something like an aoili. Now you know that you'll never let them go lol.
Love your videos my brother ryan always with the amazing content god bless 🔥❤️ a little late but i always support no matter what brother happy monday sending positive vibes
Awe I was so looking forward to the Oreos! Next video, please!
Ryan, those Scotch eggs even sounded delicious. That crunch was just right. I think I need to try making those myself!
You can buy scotch eggs in all U.K. supermarkets and butchers but haven't seen any as good as these!
Browsed the comments and didn't see it mentioned, but since you have aftermarket A/T tires on your van, you should go by the sidewall pressure rating and not the sticker in the door, since that's for the OEM tires. Great video, had me laughing as always dude
Every time Ryan says “first thing’s first”, I can’t help but think of the beginning of “Ashin' Kusher” by Kid Cudi lol
It's the Ryan cooking show!
Public grills are fine you just need your own foil to wrap over the grate and boom 😊
Perfect looking Scotch Eggs!! I want to try making them now

I started a new drinking game for every time you hear the word “essentially” take a drink😂
Love the Channel, keep up great videos !
Ryan it would be cool if you compared bought seafood to a catch and cook sea food like you did for Taco Bell and McDonald’s. Thanks for entertaining
Weird. MAV just posted a peasant feast meal IN a castle in France just yesterday.

I love your adventures and your cooking skills, you rock Ryan.

Ryan Twomessy . The Mac making process had us laughing
That was a fun one! I like to see you recreate good! Stay safe. 😃
I was wondering about the fried oreos lol. I had them for the first time back in July at a fair.
Excellent video! Lots of work but well worth it I suppose. I have to try Scotch eggs one day. Curious what park did you camp at? Patapsco?
11:05 when I use mustard as a binder when smoking meats, you never taste it.
anyone else's heart almost stop at 18:50 when he poured the oil from one pot to the other over the open flame?
Chef Ryan does it again that dinner looked so delicious 😋
Cooking body parts...In the middle of the woods.... NICE! LMFAO! That was hilarious man thanks.
The good old "Twomey Sprinkle" - Canadian highways have been salted for an entire winter with just a few Twomey sprinkles of salt
I wish all steelbooks were the matte finish instead of the easy to scratch gloss ones. The matte finish holds up so much better.
try deep fried candy bars, snickers and twix (fun size) are the best
Whenever you add cold eggs to boiling water. Yes, they will explode.. You need to put the eggs in the water then bring it to a boil
amazing video my man
Nice Ren Fair costume!
Ryan, you need to get some reusable shopping bags. Love your videos!

I been to the Renaissance festival so much fun 😊
Love Scottish eggs, Mac and cheese looked good too
If you haven’t already… next time at the MD Rennfest, try the pork chop on a stick. It’s the best!!!
Also… you didn’t make the fried Oreos!
Ryan, next time you make scotch eggs you’ll need to try spicing your breadcrumbs up man, works a treat. 🥚
Spoon the egg in the pot while boiling. Or some tongs
I'm going to that same location this Saturday!
Put salt in the water your boiling for your eggs they’ll peal perfectly every time.
Let's hope they peel perfectly too
I just like to imagine that Ryan's van is like Hermiones bag in Harry Potter.
"Hey Ryan do you have a spare renaissance outfit i can borrow?"

I've never liked Rennesance Fairs but your Scotch eggs sure looked good!
Love you Ryan and Noel!!!!!
That was a good episode. Grats Ryan.
Add salt to your water to boil eggs and the shells will come off easy.
