Hi thank you for visiting my videos. We've had such a strange summer here. June was hot and humid and july was cold and dull. August is mixed and humid. You want nothing against your legs when it's like that , even here in the UK.
Hi, I’ve been colour draped previously as a Summer & have the blue & green wrist veins is Neutral. I’m not sure what the Neutral signifies. Can you advise please? I’m so happy I found your channel & love your advice. Thank you
There's a woman on youtube who talks all the time about her 10-piece capsule wardrobe, but that's just her base. She uses what she calls auxiliary items to fill it in. Most people miss that last part; I can tell from the comments on her videos that most people think that she only has 10 items of clothing.
I found it very 'over air conditioned' in UK....the heating in winter too hot, and cooling in summer too cold!! In Australia our power is very expensive, so our aircon is set to just cool in summer and just warm in winter (unless you have a log burning fire like my cousin..its hotter at her place) so you wear jeans and a jumper and youre ok...i found i had to sleep in just knickers in the hotel and rentals in uk on holiday, it was all too hot!!!
I can’t understand, myself, why we would want to limit ourselves to these limited items. Four tops? Why? It’s not practical - especially in the heat.. some days I could go through 2 tops alone. Never mind the bottoms. Like you, I have a lot of clothes! I might as well wear them!
Day dresses at least three and skirts three night wear two pair of jeans or trousers again as many tops as you like really as we all wear them up at least choice of seven covers seven days lol love video and you are right
Thank you, and yes but if we were younger and starting our work wardrobe perhaps it may be a good start but even then who really does that, has nothing and then buys 12 items for every event or pulls out 12 items for a season from their wardrobe. Ive already found its got colder and had to add in white jeans for July
I think most people are misunderstanding the meaning of a capsule wardrobe . A capsule wardrobe is merely the basics of your wardrobe and you then build the rest of your wardrobe around that capsule by adding in the further pieces that suit your lifestyle needs. Therefore you add as many or as few as you need. A good rule is that whatever you add should go with at least 4 other pieces in your wardrobe, which are your capsule pieces. That way your wardrobe is really working for you and you don't require a wardrobe groaning at the seams with " nothing to wear".
My understanding of a capsule is that it only serves as a foundation, and you add in what you already have to that. As you said, at our stage we probably have all those Items plus much more to add on. But at the same time, too many choices slows us down when we’re shopping our closet. It’s just a curse to love buying clothes!! 😂 Love your channel.
I know. I am away at the moment, instagram will show you that as im updating over there, but ive strategically bought 1 blouse in a sale, 1 jumper in my new colours and a pearl necklace i can layer. All quality brands. No guilt 🙂, especially as i listed 5 things on Vinted yesterday from my old work days.
They aren't. I had them in my wardrobe before being recolour analysed. I was soft autumn. Yes, ive changed from warm to cool. Either misdiagnosed before or really changed. But soft is dominant so i was told i could get away with warm if its soft.
I think on hols keep separate from day 14day hol take for night trousers four pair at least two dresses or two skirts at least silky lightweight tops six at the most wear each twice over day wear tops at least seven two swimwear or three two sarongs three dresses or skirts maybe four each or shorts two flat sandals one evening shoe and one travel in as you can wear each outfit three times over rotate if skirts four or dresses four day wear rotate
I completely agree about washing, and 12 items would wear out so quickly and need replacing, so why not have more in the first place . We get quite a weather and temperature range in the UK in summer, you could end up wearing half the capsule at once when its cold and wet. Capsules are great for specific purposes like weddings or holidays, but impractical for every day life.
I am fairly new to your channel and am really enjoying your videos. I have recently turned 60 and like yourself have lost quite a lot of weight. I struggle with body confidence and pushing myself to try new outfit ideas. I work full time and have to wear trousers so finding skirts and dresses is the most difficult thing. Thanks so much for your bright breezy approach and vast knowledge!
Having a Capsule wardrobe is just a way of ensuring you always have outfits that can easily be put together, everything goes with everything. It doesn't mean that's all you've allowed to wear! It ensures you will have multiple choices in a restricted colour palette. You can then add other items as you want. All other clothes can still be worn. 12 items are too few, about 30 items to include a coat and jacket is better but there's no upper limit. AThen wear other items you already have in your wardrobe such as dresses, skirts etc to ring the changes.
@@Myover50fashionlifeHave you tried taking selfies? I was surprised recently to discover how well light yellow suits me; I looked years younger in that selfie. It's hard to be objective when I'm looking at myself in a mirror. I found that aqua is good, pale peach is good, but not as good as light yellow. Go figure.
Id love to do that. We have quite small wardrobes in the UK relative to the US and i just cant have everything available. Maybe after more weeding out I will.
Thanks for sharing your summer capsule. I counted 35 pieces (5 pants, 5 dresses, 2 sundresses, 5 shorts, 3 skirts, 7 short sleeves top, 3 sleeveless tops, 2 t-shirts, 3 jackets). This is similar to the Project 333 wardrobe concept for a season by Courtney Carver. The 12-item capsule is for packing light travel. 3 or 4 tops to every bottom is a good rule of thumb. As you mentioned, one needs to hand wash or do laundry often. I can see both Project 333 and 12 core items depending on the scenario. Cheers.
No idea why you’d want a capsule wardrobe, unless it’s what you buy that’s trending and your other clothes mix with them to create an on trend look without swopping out all your clothes maybe? I own no dresses but 34 pairs of trousers 😂
I agree with you that we have to consider the practical aspects of a capsule/minimalist wardrobe, especially the point about laundering, which we’re not supposed to do too often in order to prolong the life of the garment. However, many of us are fortunate to have the number and variety of clothing articles that we’ve accumulated over the years. For some other ladies, their clothing budget is limited, or they’re just starting to build a wardrobe with versatile pieces. So the capsule wardrobe concept is a good starting point, especially when following the ideas of less is more, and quality over quantity.
Yes those having to buy anew for any reason it is a good starting point. Id supplement with extras from thrifting or preloved sites so as the quantity is workable in real life though.
Everyone has different tastes in clothes. I don't comment on how people should wear there clothes. Tuck in or leave out. Those ladies were comfortable in their own skin, nothing wrong with what they had on. I wouldn't be comfortable tucking in my clothes. Pretty red dresses.
I thought they looked lovely and had dressed up which is more than I had, it was an opportunity to look at some tweaks though as examples . I was told my audience wanted examples other than me and I thought these ladies dressed up were an opportunity to show how to change things up as real life examples.
You look fab in the grey wide leg culottes! I hardly ever wear dresses or skirts but I've probably got about a dozen shorts in different lengths and colours. I love a pair of long tailored shorts with a blazer for an evening outfit. Agree that 12 items is nowhere near enough. I do separate washes for lights and whites, for colours and for darks( black and navy) so I need far more to make a load unless I'm going to stick to just one colour palette.
I do wish Talbots shipped to Australia! So annoying they don’t. My fave dress was the green Marks and Spencer but couldn’t get my size ! Ah well I will focus on Winter as that’s the season we are having in Australia.
How does one arrange a meeting with Lisa Eldridge? Did she convince you that you are "cool" toned? You look so nice in warm reds. Maybe you are neutral.
I think for home use leggings two pair or joggers three old tops going out in the days two pair trousers two leggings at least seven tops this f day only
That is wonderful. We'll done.!! How exciting building up a brand new wardrobe especially will all the new knowledge you probably have. Have fun shopping.
I just watched you the first time. I agree that 12 pieces is too limiting, but in a true capsule wardrobe everything goes with everything else. You have too many colors for a capsule wardrobe. My wardrobe is an expanded capsule wardrobe based on 4 colors: black, white, denim blue, & grey. I have striped & checks instead of prints. If I want color, I add red & teal. I try to keep fabrics to linen, cotton, & denim. Pants: dress black, black denim, white, B&W check, white wit thin stripe, & gray & black. Tanks: multiples of solid black, white, & gray. Long button down shirts: white, black, chambray, B&W stripe, & blue & white thin stripe. T-shirts: white, black, B&W print, & B&W pokadot. Maxi skirts: black knit, white, black denim, & blue denim. Jackets: black linen, black denim, blue denim, & white linen. Maxi dresses: black pattern, black cotton, & white cotton, black dressy. Shoes: black flats, black sneakers, white sneakers, & black sandals. Bags: natural rattan, reversible black to white faux leather tote, & Saks B&W crocheted hobo. Sun glasses: 1 black & 1 white. Rattan hats: B&W, black & natural. Jewelry: sterling silver chain necklace, rings, & earrings. Silver long necklace. Sterling thin choker, red coral, & black stone.
Welcome. One of the things we do on my channel is rotate our clothes so as we use our wardrobes, weed out what no longer works and establish the gaps. Over 50s we tend to have accumulated a lot. It seems a popular approach to my audience. Im so glad you've found me and adding to the discussion.
I agree. People don’t usually remember what we wear on the bottom, unless of course it’s in a pattern that you want to highlight. (Think plaid trousers at Christmas, for example.) People are far more likely to notice what we wear on top, closer to our face, which is where we want to draw the eye. So a bit more variety in our tops is a good idea.
companies makes clothings of any style , shape and sizes, and any coo-cc ideas so they can make some money, no ideas no money no money no ideas, and back to the drawing board, or playing patty cake with their hands, women even in the cavemen era had nice outfits too, not counting not knowing what they were wearing for swimming at the beach or lake.....?,........interesting thought, thou,.........marius(punk rules),.....maybe i'm just a man thats why i just watch not comment here?.

Old is to the elbow unless its on trend. Times move on and that was an oldish video where that length sleeve was dated.
