  • In our opinion, the BEST way to get to Machu Picchu is by hiking the Salkantay Trek. This 3-4 day trek in the Peruvian Andes leads you to Humantay Lake, over mountains, through jungle, and eventually brings you to the gateway to Machu Picchu; Aguas Calientes. Although there are multiple ways to get to Machu Picchu, taking the scenic route is always our preferred method, and we think this video makes it clear why we prefer to take the long way :)
    We did this trek with Peruvian Paths and Adventures, and you can see in the video how much we enjoyed our trip! You can check out Peruvian Paths and Adventures here: www.peruvianpathsandadventure...
    Not only was the food excellent and the guide incredibly knowledgeable, but having a team available to organize and help our group as needed was invaluable! We really can't say enough good things about Peruvian Paths and Adventures and recommend you check them out for any adventure you want to do in Peru!
    If you are wondering how to get to Machu Picchu, or are debating between the Inca Trail and the Salkantay Trail, we hope you find this video helpful! After watching the video we hope you agree that the Salkantay Trail is absolutely gorgeous and is a route to Machu Picchu that deserves some consideration. One of the major perks of the Salkantay Trail is that if you need a bit of extra help, there are horse and van options along the way that ensure everyone can make it to Aguas Calientes safely. As you can see in the video, these options helped our group have an awesome trip and made sure we had the energy needed for our visit to Machu Picchu!

    We are planning a trip to Peru and have hiking to Machu Picchu on our list - Now we have a tough decision to make - Hike the Inca trail or the Salkantay! Thanks for sharing this video and providing some great information!

    • @nicoleandmico

      We're glad you enjoyed the video! There are so many great hikes in the area that it can be so hard to pick. We heard the Salkantay is more immersive into nature than the Inca Trail so we opted for that one but honestly, you can't go wrong. A trip to Peru is amazing no matter what you do! 😊 Feel free to ask us if you have any questions about the hiking or Machu Picchu! Happy travels!

    Great video. I also recently finished the Salkantay Trek in May and it was amazing. Did you take all of that drone footage? We were told that drones weren't allowed; we even saw people getting yelled at for using them. Very curious if you had any issues shooting with a drone.

    • @nicoleandmico
      @nicoleandmico  Рік тому +2

      Yes, we saw that you had been as well! We did take all of the drone footage in this video. Our guide was incredibly helpful when it came to getting drone shots. We got to Humantay Lake quite late in the day and there weren't many people there, so our guide spoke with the security guys and they said we were OK to fly because there were so few other people around. We also made it to the top of the Salkantay Pass before it got too busy and flew the drone straight away there without any issues as well, but our guide did tell us to make it snappy. We weren't sure if that meant it wasn't typically allowed, or just that he wanted us to be courteous about the noise the drone makes (although we just have a mini 2 so it's pretty quiet), but we were able to fly it without any issues. It's really interesting to hear you saw people get yelled at for using drones, it sounds like we may have gotten very lucky

      @@nicoleandmico Wow, that's great. I mean, that drone footage was amazing and looked great in your video. I'm glad that they let you, and that your guide was cool about it. It was mostly OUR guide yelling at people with drones hahaha so there is no way I could have gotten away with that! But your footage looks fantastic. :)

    • @nicoleandmico
      @nicoleandmico  Рік тому +1

      Hey Jeff! Thanks for letting us know you enjoy the video. It's great to hear you liked it! The 4 night/5 day tour goes for $500USD per person if you do a group, and has higher prices for private tours that are dependent on the number of people. That includes your entrance ticket Machu Picchu, the train back to Cusco, and all the food, accommodations, and porters along the way. And of course your guide! As you can see we had an excellent time and would highly recommend the guided tour 😁
