Special thanks to the families that helped me on this trek. Book the same route and tell them Kraig Adams sent you :) www.refugiossalkantay.com/salkantay-short-trek-4-days-3-night
@@AlishaYks I completed the Salkantay Trek after a friend recommended Refugios Salkantay and this was the best trek i have ever made. Highly Recommended, they explained to me they are able to provided both service and fair pricing because of the network of local families incorporated along the trek.
Just did 5-day Salkantay, one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, and I trek a lot around the World! 3 pieces of advice if you plan to do it: 1. Go in off-shoulder season (April is perfect) - very few people so it is a very serene experience. 2. Chew Coca leaves first couple of days, Coca tea does very little to help with elevation (advice from locals). 3. Wear long pants once you get down from Salkantay into the rain forest or the midges will get you (locals call them mosquitos for some reason) - deet does very little to protect from them and it does hurt pretty bad :) Cheers !
It's been pretty cool to watch you master the art of making these types of videos, not just cinematically but also with the type of gear you bring, and the kind of shots/music you use. The balancing between the music and natural noises. Impressive stuff.
Thanks Kraig for the inspiration. Because of you I just completed the 5 day Salkantay Trek. One of the best experiences of my life. Without your video I don't think I would have ever done it. Thanks again!
Hey Kraig! I also did the Salkantay independently last week, and ran into you filming. I think it's worth nothing that for the section you drove from Chaullay to Lucmabamba, there is actually a trail on the other side of the valley - away from the road. It takes you through small coffee farms and winding cliffs, so it wasn't quite as boring as I heard the road side is. It is long though - I ended up crossing the river using a cable-pulley contraption that the locals use to cross over, and then got a ride for the last few km to Lucma. This might be helpful for other subscribers looking to do the trip.
I've posted a similar comment on your video about the Santa Cruz trek (also in Peru). I did both hikes in 2018, at a shifting point in my life. I lived some of my best memories during those treks and being able to relive this, through your videos, is a wonderful gift. Recognizing spots where I camped, where I had lunch, where I just admired the endless views of this beautiful part of the world. It gives me the chills. Thank you very much for these pieces of visual art you create for us & yourself. Keep on walking, keep on making these videos.
Thank you very much Adam. Thanks to you I have fallen in love with hiking and nature and above all with the fact of being able to go alone without needing anyone else. You are a great inspiration to many people. The information you give after the trail is super important, I am very grateful to you. A huge hug!
THANKYOU for putting this video out! I did the Salkantay trek back in 2019 as my first "real" international trip and it has stuck with me ever since. This brought back so many memories seeing the specific trails and various points you stopped at along the way. I really appreciate the supreme quality and all the work you put in to create these videos. I'm sure these will be incredible to look back on down the road. I've used a lot of the gear you wear and bring along on your trips. I can't thank you enough for the inspiration.
I didn't expect a hiking video to bring me to tears, but the moment when you smile at the camera and show the fog lifting is pure magic. Just a breathtaking video.
What an opening sequence! Amazing. You've got a great knack for choosing the right music for the visuals and so many people take that for granted. Great work!
the opening shots were out of this world. and the explanation was exactly what i needed. if i am ever going to do this. THIS video would be my inspiration
Another banger Kraig. The intro is fire as always, just as the whole adventure. I guess this one will be one of my favorites, incredible shots of and on Machu Picchu, even (or especially) if it was so cloudy out there. Somehow it just wanted me to watch your Alaska film again ;) CINEMATOGRAPHY on fleek. Just the perfect film to calm down and relax while the world crashes. Have a great weekend Señor, cheers, Mario
What a wonderful video! You capture the essence of the nature along with the culture and the sheer size of Machu Picchu like no one other, just a piece of art! The second part of this video is just what I needed, sharing your knowledge and inspiring me to make more time for hikes and video making :) thank you!
Kraig, fantastic job making your films! You remind me of myself when I was your age. I would film myself and others and go back and get the camera. It's tedious but effective, and you take it all to another level. Keep up the good work and thanks for the motivation!
I did the inca trail just over 10 years ago, this video brought back some wonderful memories of that place! great work dude! pisco sours...one of the best beverages on the planet!!
Your videos inspire me. Your cinematography always amazes and I get to visit places I'll never get to see first hand. As an Australian older hiker, travel during covid has curtailed planned hikes for a couple of years, although I hiked the Larapinta last June and am planning to hike either the Coast to Coast in England or the Camino Primitivo in Spain next year. Cheers and thanks for the amazing videos.
Classic Kraig Adams video. I like the no talking nature/hiking part followed by the guide informations. The introduction shows some breathtaking drone views. 😍👏👏👏👏
5:05 Man, sometimes the universe just hands us a gift and says "good luck capturing this with your camera". What a scene in that moment. Great stuff dude. Took me back.
Did this trip a few years back as a 5 day hike, fantastic to relive through your video. A real shame you didn't get great visibility on the mountain looking across to Machu Picchu. We did camp up their and the view was incredible, one of the highlights.
Hiked this as one-day. The weather was misty and it was raining back then rather than this beautiful weather you have on the video. I have to say I fully enjoyed it, even though the visibility was not that great - it still gave you goose bumps, especially when in around the lake, watching the glaciers/snow in the background. Peru is amazing! As always great music, incredible footage!
I say this a lot with your videos Kraig but this is my favorite. It's going to be difficult to beat this one for me. The atmosphere, the drone intro, the jungle and beauty of this area is something incredible.
Just BREATH TAKING! There are no words for how beautiful this video is. WOW! Thanks for sharing such amazing adventures with us, Kraig! I am in love with all your videos, they inspire me to get out there! 🙏🏼 🌎 😊 🐾 I always love how you take time to say hi to animals, especially dogs ! 🐕YOu have great energy and they confirm it!
What an amazing experience! The views are just gorgeous there and I can only imagine how it is in person. Love your editing with these videos also. Keep up this fantastic work good sir! Your work has really inspired me to get out more myself and break away from the craziness of my life. I'll be hiking out west doing some of the trails you did earlier this year out in Utah. Thanks as always for the inspiration and never stop being creative man! Looking forward to your next adventures!
We did the same walk 2019. Brilliant filmography. To recognise the paths and even some of the rock outcrops was so amazing. Thanks for recreating the journey for us… and the drone shots gave a perspective we missed, fantastic to see…
Wow, that brings back memories! Lots of people now compared to when I hiked this in 1998. We started in Mollepata (no roads beyond this point), took a right at Soraypampa, went over the Inca Chiriasqa pass and joined the main Inca Trail at Huayllabamba. As we descended we went by this site where the Inca's straightened the river and put in a cannel network. Fantastic 7 day trip.
Salkantay Trek is a famous trekking in Cusco and is a great alternative to the Inka Trail to Machupicchu. Amazing place, machipicchu have wonderful hotel to, thank you for you share you experience.
Did this exact same trek right before the pandemic in 2019! One of my favorite hikes of all time. You perfectly captured the immense beauty of those daunting mountains and the fun little interactions between people/dogs while resting. Had a blast watching this video and seeing all the same parts I enjoyed (same hotel in Aguas too!) Your use of scale was immaculate on this vid!
This seems like a great way to hike Manchu Picchu, cutting down unnecessary road walk and not having to worry about lodging and food. The views along the way are breathtaking, one would miss out a ton if simply riding the train in
