I just purchased a Monogram 66 Malibu SS from eBay. It's used not new but I enjoy buying built model cars and when I get them I completely dismantle the entire car and rebuild it. I don't rush these rebuilds I can have months and about 50+ hours in each car but the finish results are completely worth every minute put into each car. My last build was a 1970 Baldwin motion Camaro. It was purple when I bought it and I worked on for months and it actually looks like you can get in and cruise down the road in it.

Thanks! Yea, it’s worth it to take your time and not rush. Plus, I kinda work slow. I actually haven’t touched this one for several weeks. Other projects pushed it to the side for now. Can’t wait to get back on it though.

Built that one 41 years ago. Wish I could find one sealed new. Good luck

I have that Jag also, and I was fortunate to pick mine up 15 years or so ago for around $75 IIRC. The engine was started, but that was about it.
Yes, new kits and even reissues can be expensive! I’m going to take a look at your other videos……these can be challenging, but are worth the effort in seeing ‘em through. 👌🏾
BTW, I’m getting parts monthly to build Agora’s 1/8 scale 1961 Jaguar E-type convertible. I swear that one goes together just like the actual car, including having to put spokes in ALL the wheels!
For now, I’m just collecting the parts as I have another long term project to build (1968 Shelby Mustang), but it’s on my radar to build.

Cool stuff! Unfortunately my jag build is on a temporary hold. I started a Pocher Mercedes commission build, so that takes priority. But I’ll be back on the Jag as soon as the Pocher is done. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Dear friends, dear Jaguar fans in particular, I’ve been watching these videos now for some time. In short it’s amazing. I did build one some 30 years ago, it came out fairly nice, but not on this level. However, I do have one more in the waiting. A Monogram 1/8 E-Type. But seeing this I wonder. Is it possible to go ahead building it.
It’s sort of intriguing seeing this, but I don’t know if I have the skills. So maybe I leave it in the box. On eBay prize are moving upwards, but in would be nice to give in a try. Can’t wait until the next video. Thanks for posting. Amazing work.

Thank you for the comment, I really appreciate it. You’re right, they are getting more on eBay. But unless you need the money, I would suggest that you build it. Just have fun with it and build it. I see several people building models that make my work look amateur. There are plenty of model makers with skills far superior to me, but I just do the best I can and try to improve my skills, but most importantly, have fun. If you don’t have fun building it, at any skill level, then what’s the point? Which is why I will more than likely sell the other Jaguar kit I have. I enjoy building, but only one time. When this one is done, I’m excited to start something new and have no desire to build the same thing again. So I’ll sell my other one and use that money to buy something different. So build it, and have fun. And thanks again.

I just thought of some better advice. And I’ve actually done this. If you don’t feel ready skill-wise to tackle a valuable project, put it on hold and build a few cheaper kits to practice and hone your skills.

I saw the Corvette I had back when i was young. 1/8 scale. I also had the 57 Chev 1/12 (edit thought is was 1/8 scale) scale as well. I want to get them again and have a go building them now that I am in my 50s. More patience now.
The upside of the Jag is that it was not painted? That will help. Look forward to the build.

Thanks for commenting. Unfortunately this project kinda got pushed to the side because of a few commissioned builds. Hopefully I’ll be back on it soon. I want to get it done so I can start some of the others. You can find them for ‘cheap’ if you’re willing to get them in ‘not good’ condition.

      I don’t remember a ‘57 Chevy in 1/8th - only the 1/12th, and 1/16th scale. 🤔

@@eugenegilleno9344 You are correct. The 57 was 1/12 scale :)

I thought one of the most unique features of the jaguar was that the door windows could go up and down. Please show how they work if you get to that.

You picked a real challenge. If you want to make it look halfway decent one needs to build the bulkhead as well as the front subframe completely new. That is what I did anyway plus many other parts that I designed and built from scratch. If you would like some ideas / hints or whatever have you - gimme a shout :-). Wow, you do great work! Awesome job. I’ll be happy if mine turns out half as nice as yours. I was planning on redoing a lot of the kit and adding extra details so I’ve been looking at a lot of pics online. I was also planning a full overhaul on the interior including leather seats like I did on the Pocher.I’m having a hard time finding nice shots of the fuel line and brake line routing, and other plumbing and wiring is hard to figure out. It would be nice if I had access to a real car. I’ll do my best and hope it looks good. One other thing, my kit is Monogram, yours was Revell. I didn’t know Revell did one. Do you know how similar they are?

    • @vok497
      @vok497 5 років тому

@@customfabrications Thx! As far as I know Revell got the moulds from Monogram hence the models are identical.
