Great save ! it nice to see an old kit saved from the bin ! I found old built kits and sometimes they are just so badly built there is just no saving them. At least give them a decent burial ! Outstanding save !
Great rescue Doug ! It's fun to find and assemble an old kit that would have been tossed out ! As long as you have the basic kit parts many times you can scratch build them. The color came out fantastic!
i got a problem of buying and collecting model kits. i guess its a good problem to have. nice save and build. you have many great builds. i am going to subscribe....hope it helps you to make more video's.
Wow, what a nice Vette!! The color you've chosen is absolutely stunning. Well done sir! I'm here because I picked up one of these 1/8 scale '82 Collector's Vettes a couple years ago as a sealed NIB. I've been practicing on other projects and waiting for my modeling skills to improve before I build the Vette. This was an expensive kit so I don't want to mess it up. I'm very grateful that you've pointed out the ride-height and wheelbase issues. I'm pretty sure that I can fix both of those errors while the chassis is being assembled. Although my decal sheet still looks new, I'll probably not use them and opt to build a more conventional Corvette as you've done because I just don't trust 40 year old decals to work as intended. Anyway, great work and I'm looking forward to seeing what you're building next. 👍
Doug, really glad to see this one saved. I have the Monogram 1/8 79 T/A, 85 Vette and this one NIB. One day I have to build them. I would really like to get the back 85 IROC.
Thanks GM, these are really special kits. Have fun! Thanks for sharing and please subscribe if you haven't already, to help us continue our mission to inspire more modelers! -Doug
Very well done on your '82 Vette Doug! She is a true head turner for sure! I love that blue you used. For a kit that needed a lot of work, the end results paid off! I need to keep an eye out for one!
I wasn't aware Monogram had done a 1/8 scale version of this kit; as a teenager I had the 20th scale version, which up to that point was the biggest model car I had built. Most likely this is a scaled up copy of that same model, but I love the paint job you've got on it here, and I would love to see this particular Corvette variant released in the more conventional 24th or 25th scale, or even this same kit now that Revell has brought back the 8th scale Firebird.
An impressive rescue !! Although you stated the dimensions and one photo showed the body atop two paint cans, a photo of the finished build next to a common item ( soda can, dollar bill, etc ) would have given a perspective of how truly massive this car is 👍
Where did you find the copy of the instruction for the vette ? I am trying to find the instruction for the monogram 1/8 trans am if you could hell me find it it will be very apreciated..... thanks
GB, They came in the box, For the Trans Am kit - this should work for you. downloads.revell.de/Manuals-Modelkits/CM_07710.pdf You can help us too by subscribing! -Doug
