I've always owned outboards thinking they were less work. I was right:) Nice instructions though, I appreciate it and I might own a stern drive someday. One thing I've found as an easy way to install the impeller, is to first put it in place with the key as well, then spin the driveshaft while placing the cover on it. what happens is that this causes the impeller blade to collapse so the cover goes on. Took me about 30 years to catch onto that trick.

When it comes to the you joints by Spicer off-road triple sealed, non-reasonable joints, annual never have a problem again I put those in my boat and I love them
I've had Fishing boats all my life ,,, But Never and Inboard/outboard ! because I'm 61 now,, and more into lettingmy grandkids and wife enjoy ,,, I bought a Deck boat ,,, and it's a 2001 model with a 3.0l Mercrusier 135 hp. I think and after a few trips ,,, it's running hot ,,, but I think it was my fault for Cranking it and it trimmed all the way up and taking a few before I realized it ! I'm a pretty good Mechanic , sooo I've got a Impeller Coming ! already got the Foot oil, grease,,, Oil filter and engine oil, New bilge pump and Inline blower for the Fumes thermostat,,, etc ! ,,, I'm gonna try to spen a couple days on it , soo I'll know it's good to go and done right ! Love your channel ,,, and yes I subscribed !
Why do you separate the lower unit? I found that guiding that back up can damage the lower upper case shaft seal. I disassemble it after the complete drive is removed.
Learn from my mistakes when you buy your impeller pump, buy three of them put them in your garage put them in the cupboard. Don’t worry that they’re there. The next thing is never use grease that’s not marine or girly bad idea I know.
And one more thing for anybody that reads this if you can work on your lawnmower or your car, you can work on a MerCruiser they’re not that complicated. They try to tell you they are but they’re really not. There’s nothing to you there. They are simple mechanics take a bolt out put a bolt back

Oh, put a little grease or Vaseline on the impeller to help it slip more too.
