Great video! Love seeing your process, with all the imperfections! I agree that forward momentum is sometimes the key to doing great work! without worrying too much about masks and passes...
The level of detail that you put in photoshop vs blender is very interesting. The small rocks, shadows and chains are all things I would never expect would be added in photoshop.
Excelent tips and as always amazing work. I've been using PS for over 2 decades now and I'm very happy when I find great artists like yourself that help me find and understand new and different ways to approach my workflow and I thank you for that.
Very cool! Love the final result! I wonder, if there's any real need doing all this polishing and assembling a scene for your portfolio? I mean, if you want to show design of your vehicle, why not just show a simple render that showcases your work as a designer? If there'll be two candidates - one's great designer but he's bad at rendering and polishing things in photoshop, and the other, who can do pretty generic designs but he can assemble epic scenes. Which one's likely to get the job? (this's not a question about your work, it's great. I'm asking as a student concept designer)
Thx. One aspect is th edesign itself. That can be showcased in stills or a turntable. The other aspect relates to world building, story telling and context. What world is the design part of? What’s its duties? What about the mission? I am exploring the second part here, and am experimenting with subtle storytelling that is hopefully inspiring to the viewer. I like to do both and I think a candidate who can do both os stronger for it. As for what’s most important in getting a job, it would depend on the skills already represented on the team.
Great video :) I have a question though. At 11 minutes in your video you seem to add a greeble from a file to your scene. But it's not in another window, it's in the viewport. How do you do that? Is your greeble file simply in another scene and you created a new scene for your illustration or do you have a way to open a file in a different panel in blender? I hope my question is clear enough :D
Please keep them coming, super useful look at workflow and thought process.

@@AustinBeaulier No. I don’t think that was well planned. But since I CAN just do it after the fact, why not?!
This videos are great and really helpful! Hope you keep doing more!

At first I thought you were advising not to use Photoshop :D Wouldn't be surprised tho.
@@Zeffyras I’ve tried a few alternatives, but haven’t found anything suitable.

Can you please share more info about your yellow cap? What brand is that?

@@TomHaggun I just have greebles off to the side of the rendered area. Same file.
