    It is actually sharp in the corners, but have heavy field curvature. Mine was at a service center once because I thought it was faulty during landscape photography, but turns out it was just field curvature, which I’m not used to that much. Great video! Hilser fra Norge!

    This lens truly surprised me, as a sony user most of my lenses are the G master lenses but that 70-200 is just way to expensive for me. So far I've done weddings with this lens it's been amazing.

      i have this lens and im selling it, it lacks critical sharpness which makes me not want to use it. images tend to look soft and lack contrast (might also be my copy)

    • @ThanhNguyen-sk6uc
      @ThanhNguyen-sk6uc 6 місяців тому

      @@TheEnergizedcinema It could be just a copy I've done over 40 weddings with it, and it everything came back tack sharp. However, I had to send mine into repair 1 month ago , during a shoot the zooming mechanism locked in on me and it jammed the whole lens, I can go from 70mm-135 np but can't go past , so for like 1 week during shoots I had to physically pull the lens with my hands to get past the 135mm length it was embarrassing but it worked lol Then I realized that it was a common thing with this lens when you're using the lens hood. very odd. despite the setback I still really enjoy this lens.

    Nice video. Had to watch as i have purchased this lens 4 months ago for my A7III. Only had a 24, 35 and 50mm. So really happy to bring my hole kit all the way up to 180mm. Just opens up a whole new world of opportunities. And as you say easy to have in your bag at all time, as it is pretty light. Only issue I have with it after 4 months, is that there is starting to accumulate dust on the inside, even though I don't think i have used it as much. And it seems almost impossible to fix yourself. But on the other side i can't see the dust on the images. But still a little annoying. Looking forward to see what kind of pictures you get out of this beautiful lens 😊

    • @1337ghomri
      @1337ghomri Рік тому

      @@entremontanas7614 After for almost having it for a year now, i can say that it doesn't accumulate that much afterall. When i got it there were some dust particles inside. So i was affraid even more would move in to the lens, but it hasen't gotten much worser. but still yes definitely a few dust particles inside.

    Thanks for your very interesting video. I bought this lens mostly for shooting outdoor portraits and snaps of my family but I was thinking about using it also for nature photography (not for wildlife). Close up abilities are amazing, I'm looking forward for the summer and the butterflies. Subject separation abilities is also useful for nature details (even bigger ones). AF is amazing, even on my old and slow Sony A7II it's o.k.
    For me the biggest con is that it only goes to 180mm, I really miss the 200mm, which is a focal length I use very often. So if I have the time and do not need AF, I'll still use my 40 years old manual focus Zeiss C/Y Vario Sonnar 4/80-200mm for nature photography which is sharp enough, focuses down to 1m at 200mm, has incredible colors and lot's of character (some color fringing and sometimes weird bokeh included ;-)). This lens makes me slow down and compose better then with the Tamron but surely makes me miss a lot of shots because of lacking AF.

      Maybe try to use this lens with an aps-c camera, a6xxx serie, you would have an 275mm range

    Hi Olle.
    In my case I prefer the 70-200, I think it is a more accurate optic. I use Canon equipment, specifically the 70-200 2.8 II, and apart from offering a very good sharpness, it has fantastic colors, a warmth and gradation of the light incredible.
    Greetings.

    Interesting and honest video! I would have bought this lens already for portraits But the eye AF had problems and Tamron is not updating the lens software since it’s release. There are so many complaints about it all over the internet but before this isn’t fixed, the lens is unfortunately a no go for me :(

    Again a good funny and informative video from you Olle :)
    I sold my Sony 70-200 long time ago and want an alround again. Bought this Tamron cause its so much cheaper than the Sony. And the picture quality is just as good, if not sharper than the Sony 70-200.
    I dont care about the "plastic" when I feel its better than the Sony.

    Hey Ollé, how do u rate this lense now in 2024 vs the 70-200 Sony and Sigma

  • @Stasiek_Zabojca
    @Stasiek_Zabojca 2 роки тому

    Image stabilisation would probably made this lens more expensive. And as far as I know, the deal with Sony "open" mount is that other brands can make lenses for it, but they can't make teleconverters for it. That's why there are converters for Sigma L-mount lenses, but not for Sony-E.

    Thank you for the video :) as a owner of a Tamron 28-75 G2 I'm really struggling, if I should buy this or the newer 35-150 mm. Yes, it's another 30 mm shorter, but therefore you get 2.0 on the shorter end and you got that extra range on the "wide-angle" side. On a holiday trip (or a scenario as a wedding), where you (maybe) only bring one lens, I think the 35-150 mm is much more versatile. What would you think?

    • @ollenilssonen
      @ollenilssonen  2 роки тому +2

      Yeah I’d say the 35-150 is perfect for that scenario. Such an impressive lens!

    Can confirm, the point with the dust.
    I had mine for a year and there is a really little amount of dust inside of the lens. (Which doesn't affect the image quality)
