Hey Everyone, I am really curious. For those of you where your screen protector started peeling off like mine or doesn't peel off at all, could you please state how is the climate of the country you live in while using the Z Fold? How long you have used the Z fold before it started peeling? Is it dry or humid, and what was the temperature range? I suspect the screen protector peels off only in dry and cold climate like mine.
I live in central South Dakota (USA) and I've had the phone nearly a year. Pretty harsh, variable climate really. We hit - 40 F this winter and over 100 F for the last week. Can be very dry at times and very humid at others (I live along the Missouri River). I've had it outside in all of those climates (although not for long at the extremes!). I did not have any trouble with the screen protector lifting until I got the phone wet. I spilled wine on the hinge and I ducked it in water to clean it. The screen protector lifted within a week of doing that - I'm going naked now! 😂
Malaysia here, high humidity and hot with average temperature of 29 degree celcius. I bought fold 4 on 9th Nov 2022. 10 months later, the 2nd screen protector started to peel off right at the top of the middle crease and took about 1 week to completely peel off at the middle. On 17th sept 2023, there was suddenly a black line on the crease of 2nd screen and it became completely useless. I never drop the phone and it remained unscratched (verified by samsung service centre). I was denied a replacement and the repair will take almost a month. It doesn't worth it and i think Samsung lied about it durability.
@suhanahasan729 looks like humidity is not a factor then. Seems like the screen protector is the culprit and we are all experiencing same issues after about 10 to 12 months. It's ironic because the screen protector is supposed to protect. Thanks for sharing anyway.
Had my fold 4 since September 2022. No issues until late july 2023 when the inner screen ceased to function. I returned the phone via the Samsung warranty, and it was returned back to me after 3 or 4 days completely fixed, protected with layers of thin plastic along the hinge and outer edges, and that AWFUL cracking noise when opening was GONE.... Very satisfied with Samsung warranty service AND have fallen in love with the device all over again.
Oh wow! Thank you for sharing your positive experience. This might be the first time I have heard Samsung has fixed a Z fold 4 for free and provided a positive customer experience. Hopefully, there will be many more of such positive stories to come in the future. Thanks for sharing
In fact, I removed the protective screen because of its annoying sound after it started sticking to the edges of the hinge.. To be honest, I have not obtained any scratches at all. On the other hand, it can be said that the screen is more pleasant in terms of brightness, smoothness, and writing on it, even though I have been without screen protection for more than four months. I will not hide from you that my concern for the phone, in terms of dropping it or putting things with it in my pocket, has become an obsession for me out of fear of losing what I enjoy in the phone: the internal screen.
It's really a pleasant experience having such a big screen with us all the time, in our pocket. However, it's a shame that the maturity of the foldable screen is still not able to last long enough, 2-3 years, like normal phone would. My next phone upgrade is becoming clearer. 👍
Mine doesnt have any problem whatsoever. Only a bit of a sound as well when opening it but nothing wild. The screen protector isnt peeling off. I always take good care of my devices though. I highly recommend a leather bag over a case.
Let me guess, you live in a humid country? I suspect the screen protector peeling is due to the dry climate. How long have you used your z fold 4? Thanks for sharing.
@@Kostas_Dikefalaios Hmm.... based on all the comments, it seems like the screen protector peeling off issue is only happening at dry climate countries. This is why there are some who experience this issue, while others like yourself doesn't have this problem.
Easily the biggest selling poing for me was the Tablet UI. It takes mobile productivity to whole new level. I was contemplating between my Iphone 13 pro max and a ipad mini or Fold 5. Biggest productivity app for me is Whatsapp that runs extremely well on the Folds.
Just remove the screen protector entirely as soon as it starts to peeling off so that its crack will not cause the actual inner screen to break. How ironic they call it a screen "protector" while it's actually the very cause for the inner screen to "break"🙄 It's been like this since fold 2 era.
My Fold 4 hinge suddenly stopped opening all of the way, and made a really bad aound when trying to force it any. I said screw it, and ran hot water over the hinge while opening and closing it partially several times. It started to open more and the issue went away. The gross sounds it makes when unfolding it mostly went away too. Not recommending this, just sharing what worked for me. Mine is getting traded in for the 5, and I didnt want to deal with warranty repair at the same time.
Take what off? I hear it every morning when I'm opening it. Odd thing is. If I do it then place it shut for awhile. I don't hear it at all. Why is this?
3:48 so is it better drop proof than the z fold 3. I drop my z fold 3 atleast 5 times a day without a case😂 its pretty dented but the hinge is still amazing and it works perfectly fine after two years
The hinge is vulnerable to debris and dust more than drops. Drop impacts usually won't reach the hinge core mechanics. Yes, most definitely z fold later generations are usually better than previous generations.
Yes i agree, replacing the screen protector should not be a deal breaker especially when Samsung can replace it for free. Many third party screen protector applies on top of the existing one rather than replace it. I didn't want to go through the hassle. The z fold 4 screen is very well designed compared to previous versions, and i heard the z fold 5 will have tear drop hinge to make this even better. So hopefully the 5 will not have this problem.
The front screen is almost useless as it is very narrow, and cases make it difficult to easily hit buttons along the left side. When you have the flip open, it works great. The screen protector came off at the 10 month mark, and finding a retailer to replace it who was close to my home was difficult. I still don't have one on the big screen. Otherwise, I probably would not buy this phone again unless they make the front screen wider / usable.
1900.00 phone and after a few months the center screen protector was coming up at the crease and it was also not opening fully any longer... they call this a flagship?
After 3 years of gentle care my screen protector started coming off at the seam. The service center couldn't replace it because the phone wouldn't lay flat they said. I got a Fold5. But the "velcro sound" of the Fold4 was sickening. That's gone in the 5.
My hinge has done the same thing. I know it's a manufacturer issue, so I'm annoyed about that because they won't take the phone back with it like this. Now I'm stuck
@@Pip734 I agree its a manufacturing issue. I came to the Fold4 from years and years with Apple. Samsung assured me the Fold4 was sound, and if the screen was ever a problem, they would stand behind it. I was lucky I guess in that I had been paying Verizon $6 a month for insurance. Had no idea it would cover the screen issue, and was shocked when they would replace the phone with the new model. Considering we paid $1800 for the phone we all should expect generous support when something goes sideways that was not our fault.
I am not using the z fold anymore. I traded in my z fold when S23 Ultra came out last year. You've got a good price. Get it if you don't mind the z fold 4 breaking in a year's time.
My hinge doesn't fully open and after about 13 months a random dot of deal pixels appeared on the crease of the inside screen. The dots about the same size as the camera dot on the front screen. Phone has been very well looked after and never dropped so will be taking it in store to be fixed
Thanks for sharing. Exactly why I made this video, for all to share their experiences. I suspect it's to do with climate and humidity. Did you use your z fold in a humid country or dry climate country? Winter or summer over the 9 months? I am curious.
The same happened with me. I am a very heavy user of my device. It had minor sounds. There were no issues. The screen protector started peeling off like whats in yours. I went to the service center and they replaced the entire screen and the hinge in warranty, didnt not ask me much questions. Its been 2 months that its as good as new.
Velcro sound in most case is of screen protector.....i in my z fold 2 removed the stock screen protector and installed a third party screen protector. Since then it eliminated the noise
@@suyashtoshniwal reading your story makes me wonder if the screen protector is required as part of the design to "pull" or "lift" the screen up along the hinge when we open fully. You mentioned when the screen protector peeled all the way along the hinge it can't fully open. Maybe that's why?

Its ok to apply an screen protector? Does it make the screen to peel off? I just bought an z fold 4 and i dont know if i make a mistake to apply an screen protector on the inside screen
I bought used fold 4 and exactly in 1 day the internal screen damaged! issue with loose hinges pins underneath which is not visible and not covered with warranty.... sold the phone as is with big loss and worst experience with mobiles ever!
How did you find the outer screen? Do you use it often? And how was the aspect ratio? Some people think that the Samsung Fold is too tall and narrow. Did you find that or did you think the AR was OK when the Fold was opened?
Yes the outer screen AR makes watching 16:9 video really small. Good thing is we can easily zoom in. This is when we have to open up and use the inner screen to watch 16:9 videos. We get 6.4 inches effectively watching 16:9 video on inner screen with black bars. The unique thing about watching UA-cam on the inner screen is we can zoom in and get the aspect ratio of close to 1:1 on a huge 7 inche screen. Very good for seeing news reporters facial expression as they are always at center. Z fold is really a unique phone which is different to normal phones. We get so many aspect ratios, just not the standard 16:9.
@@SkyPerspective How often do you use the outer screen? Is it so infrequent that it is not a factor in usefulness? I used to have a Google Nexus 7 tablet which was a small tablet, and I found it very useful for travel. It was about the same size as an opened Samsung Fold. Your video came out at the right time. Today is Samsung 2023 Unpack Day and I'm sure many people are thinking, Fold or not?
@@woofinu the outer screen is really useful replying to messages and scrolling through feeds. One handed typing (swiping) is easy and accurate too. Between the inner and outer screens I would say I use 55% inner screen and 45% outer. Yes I know nexus 7 because i used it before. I think that's my first tablet, very useful little thing. Best part is it is narrow enough to be held by one hand. Yap I am so glad this video reached so many people at first launch and so many of them found it useful and discovered my channel for the first time. That's what my channel is about, to share the story of my personal tech gear because i am a user myself. Thanks for your support all these while
@@SkyPerspectiveHave you seen the OnePlus Fold or Google Fold? Do you prefer the Samsung tall and narrow or shorter and more square shape of the other phones? Did this video get the most views after one day?
@@woofinu The views started slowing down after day 1, but still going up, I am very happy and contented about this already. Glad its reaching and helping so many people. Plenty of good interactive comments too, which is great. Oneplus Fold is definitely not the elegant type of folding phone with such a camera bump. Reminds me of the old Nokia phone camera bump, can't remember the model number. Smartphone camera post processing software is also critical, which I suspect Oneplus camera software is still behind Samsung, albeit not too far behind. Things like low light and night time photography, most likely OnePlus will not be able to achieve Samsung's output. Hmm.... not sure, if I can get my hands on a OnePlus fold, maybe I can say more about it. Samsung Z Fold 4 is really like a candy bar when I hold it in my hands, very nice to hold and the width is really good for one hand swipe, maybe I am bias already. It's just a shame my screen protector is peeling off, if not I might hold on to this phone longer.
When I had my Z Fold previously no I didn't buy the plan. However I would highly recommend someone getting a foldable phone to get the Samsung care plan.
Be corrected. My Honor Magic V2's screen is larger (7.92"). It's way thinner. A CPU that shames my PC's i7. A larger battery than the Z4, at 5000 mA. 120hz refresh and very brighter. I agree, the Z4 is a dinosaur today and a pain to lug around.
Hello, I just purchased a z fold4 to replace my z fold3 which I'm giving to my wife. My question is, since both folds are unlocked and renewed if I reset my fold3, will it reset back to the unlocked mode or will it reset and stay in the T-mobile mode? Any help will or replies will help. Thank you, adrake53
Hi Anthony, I am not quite sure, but I suspect resetting the phone has no impact on the network locking. In other words, it should stay unlocked after you reset the phone. Not sure. Hopefully someone who has done this before can confirm.
I bought from MobileZap: www.mobilezap.com.au/araree-nukin-p-clear-case-with-s-pen-holder-for-samsung-galaxy-z-fold4-90755 Is this the case you are talking about?
I am using Z fold 4 , now I have problem connecting WiFi.. I have already trying many times, but cannot .. please help someone having same problem like me ! ..please advise
I got rid of my zfold 3 which I originally loved. Three months in ,I had damaged pixels at crease . Got a screen replacement. Inconvenience for a week. Three weeks before the warranty was up, the screen protector lifted up. We're not allowed to take the screen protectors off by warranty . That meant another week without my phone and this time they were going to charge me even within the one-year warranty. I called bullshit and traded my phone.
I just peeled off the factory screen protector and replaced it with an aftermarket one and it was fine. I did get the creaking hinge after a couple of months though which is kind of annoying..
Ya I agree, not being able to use the pen on front screen is so inconvenient. There are times when I use the pen on front screen and then realised it's the front screen.
Don't want the hassle of removing the SPen holder every time I get into the car, and put the holder back when I get off the car. I did that for a few days and stopped doing that.
lol for the price paid for it, it is really not worth it. screen protector coming off, hinge becomes loose, saw quite some comments complaining inner screen does not work anymore, etc...
My screen is still good. It's just the screen protector peeling off and the trouble of replacing it. I think they are improving with every z fold generation. Z fold 3 was worse.
After 1,5year my fold inside screen is dead....and in Samsung with insurance that expire in 12-24 ..they say to me 50/50 % to cover me...il wait to tell me...if they don't...I return to iPhone
My fold died on me 8 months in due to a inner screen malfunction. Samsung will not change your device and 45 days later I still dont have my device. Trash service
Their warranty sucks. A product like that should have a 2-year warranty ! I shouldn't have to buy extended. It's the most expensive phone they sell. You don't even get a damn charger anymore for $2300 cdn !
Don't go to the beach with it. I got sand into the hinge and under the screen on my fold 3. It started shorting out and smoking lol. Thankfully I had it fully insured

I bought used fold 4 and exactly in 1 day the internal screen damaged! issue with loose hinges pins underneath which is not visible and not covered with warranty.... sold the phone as is with big loss and worst experience with mobiles ever!
Then probably it was already damaged
Ya most likely it's already damaged. Thanks for sharing your experience.
"The hinge is becoming loose" Proceed to opening and closing it even more... 😛
😆 haha... that's the way...
I changed my inner screen protector its fine just have to focus when doing it
what is the case? / cases?
One thing I hate about Z fold "it doesn't support S pen as a remote inside it".
Yes that's one of the reason why I switched back to Ultra
Man I want this phone so bad
I got a Z Fold 4. And it's amazing
Did you buy the protection plan?
When I had my Z Fold previously no I didn't buy the plan. However I would highly recommend someone getting a foldable phone to get the Samsung care plan.
Be corrected. My Honor Magic V2's screen is larger (7.92"). It's way thinner. A CPU that shames my PC's i7. A larger battery than the Z4, at 5000 mA. 120hz refresh and very brighter. I agree, the Z4 is a dinosaur today and a pain to lug around.
I like the hinge to be tie. if it loosen when equip with case then I felt like ready for no more folding.
Hello,
I just purchased a z fold4 to replace my z fold3 which I'm giving to my wife. My question is, since both folds are unlocked and renewed
if I reset my fold3, will it reset back to the unlocked mode or will it reset and stay in the T-mobile mode? Any help will or replies will help.
Thank you, adrake53
Hi Anthony, I am not quite sure, but I suspect resetting the phone has no impact on the network locking. In other words, it should stay unlocked after you reset the phone. Not sure. Hopefully someone who has done this before can confirm.
Hello, resetting your phone will be fine and since it is unlocked already, u can do whatever u want even to move carrier
Does the note 10 pen also work?
No it doesn't. The Z Fold is designed to detect and prevent Note 10 Pen from working on the Z fold screen.
Z fold5 is here!!
Yes. Woo hoo 🌝
Insurance is a must when owning a foldable
Yes totally agree.
I'll watch it later when I have time, but definitely catchy title. Maybe your first viral video 😂
Thanks
I am trying to find out if the phone is half folded into a L - can you shoot with the camera and have the viewport on the bottom?
Yes you can. I spoke about this on one of my early video. Link below, go to around the 7 minutes mark

Where did u get this case? i need it😩😩
I bought from MobileZap: www.mobilezap.com.au/araree-nukin-p-clear-case-with-s-pen-holder-for-samsung-galaxy-z-fold4-90755
Is this the case you are talking about?
I am using Z fold 4 , now I have problem connecting WiFi.. I have already trying many times, but cannot .. please help someone having same problem like me ! ..please advise
I got rid of my zfold 3 which I originally loved. Three months in ,I had damaged pixels at crease . Got a screen replacement. Inconvenience for a week. Three weeks before the warranty was up, the screen protector lifted up. We're not allowed to take the screen protectors off by warranty . That meant another week without my phone and this time they were going to charge me even within the one-year warranty. I called bullshit and traded my phone.
Thanks for sharing your Z Fold story. I wonder how many more of such stories are there.
I just peeled off the factory screen protector and replaced it with an aftermarket one and it was fine. I did get the creaking hinge after a couple of months though which is kind of annoying..
Did you use the fold edition S Pen?
@@SkyPerspective yes I did. It worked good but I thought it was kinda dumb how it won't work on the front screen
Ya I agree, not being able to use the pen on front screen is so inconvenient. There are times when I use the pen on front screen and then realised it's the front screen.
Why would you not just remove the spen holder on your official case
Don't want the hassle of removing the SPen holder every time I get into the car, and put the holder back when I get off the car. I did that for a few days and stopped doing that.
where did you get that case?
If from a brand called Araree. I bought it from here
www.mobilezap.com.au/araree-nukin-p-clear-case-with-s-pen-holder-for-samsung-galaxy-z-fold4-90755
The cracking sound is from the screen protector I heard
Yes, confirm it's coming from either the layers of the screen or the screen protector.
lol for the price paid for it, it is really not worth it. screen protector coming off, hinge becomes loose, saw quite some comments complaining inner screen does not work anymore, etc...
So it's not worth purchasing this device! Thanks for the heads-up. I can only afford a 2 year plan so the screen will not last that long. Thanks.
It actually will check out other ytbs
My screen is still good. It's just the screen protector peeling off and the trouble of replacing it. I think they are improving with every z fold generation. Z fold 3 was worse.
5? 6 is now out but i will be buying a used z4
I strongly suggest not to buy these folds,my zfold 4 died exactly 1yr after buying. Please Don't waste your money!!
Had mine two years now no problems
@@josephmessere7617 lucky
FAILED DEVICES
After 1,5year my fold inside screen is dead....and in Samsung with insurance that expire in 12-24 ..they say to me 50/50 % to cover me...il wait to tell me...if they don't...I return to iPhone
My fold died on me 8 months in due to a inner screen malfunction. Samsung will not change your device and 45 days later I still dont have my device. Trash service
Their warranty sucks. A product like that should have a 2-year warranty ! I shouldn't have to buy extended. It's the most expensive phone they sell. You don't even get a damn charger anymore for $2300 cdn !
@@PTRAINBOY Imagine loosing it 8 months in and having to place a lawsuit to get a response
@@PTRAINBOY yeah, im lucky in Spain is 3 years warranty.
In EU you always have minimum 2 years warranty
@@ytr5153 just deal with your phone carrier warranty. T Mobile has given me 3 free upgrades now. Started with a 2 now at a 4 for free lol
I want to get a fold 5 but i live in florida, so I'm not confident about it breaking
Don't go to the beach with it. I got sand into the hinge and under the screen on my fold 3. It started shorting out and smoking lol. Thankfully I had it fully insured
the ribbon cables just stopped working in my phone after 14 months and my phone stopped working. samsung sucks at design
I got the black line they said it was under warrenty, but now they made me pay 400 dollars. they got a working phone said they upgraded it and it stop working sent it back to me unuseable. The said they would repair the phone to working order for free! A month later they told me to pay 400 dollars or they will send it back not working, This is Jan 10th 2024 they have had it since Nov 29th 2023. I'm disabled with no phone it monitors my medical devices. I have 2 step verafaction and have not paid a bill or condo fee for two months now, I just moved to Florida and don't know anyone, I'm in trouble because of a 2000 dollar phone!.
Sorry to hear that. Thanks for sharing your experience with everyone.
i hate crypto why do you have to mention it
Too bad?
Because the world doesn't revolve around your sorry ass?
If you broke just say that.
My fold 4’s main screen developed a crack and it spread and made it unusable after six months. Also some phantom touches on the screen. The outside screen was fine though.
Mine just failed and i barely open it up 1 year
How does it fail? I am curious.
👍
Thanks
Mine is just as good as when I preordered it just have to replace the screen protector that's it to me that's not even worth complaining about it can cappen with any screen protector
How did you replace the screen protector? Did you get Samsung to do it?
