My phone is doing the exact same thing, and I also just had an update 2 days earlier. Also, my phone messages told me to put in a sim card for the last week. Then last night I tried to make a phone call and it wouldn't let me. The message said only emergency calls could be made. Then today, the screen went BLACK. I really think this is a software problem. My phone looks brand new because it has all had a case on it. Samsung has really screwed this phone up. If they don't stand behind their products and repair them, customers like you, myself, and others with the same problem will start talking to local news stations and multimedia organizations to report on what is happening. These phones are not cheap they are very expensive. Good luck, and I will keep you updated on my phone as I move forward.
Samsung suck. My hubby is on his 3rd fold. None have lasted a full year. But somehow all customers phone malfunction just after warranty expires. Don't know why my hubby keep purchasing. I would never. Samsung don't conduct business in a good way. People should report them to the BBB. RIDICULOUS ALOT OF MONEY WASTED
as i can say i have repaired most of Fold3 and i am doing right now also fold4. The issue IS the Flex Cable. Problem here is you have to disassamble the whole phone to get the big screen out and there you can access the flex cable. this is such a pain in the a'** process and a huge risk to break your inner screen only becouse of trying to fix this. Nobody wants to deal with this and what happen: they sell their phones as broken. I dont know why samsung is making this so difficult, it could be so mutch easier to repair. AND YES! I can proove that replacing this two cables did fix the issue! This flex cable has many functions and data that travel between the two sites of the phone. As you folding it time after time this tiny connections inside will break apart and becouse of this there are connection issues, also costs that the phone in some case just shut down and you have to start it again. This is not a Software issue!

Also experiencing the same issues. Right after 1 year of phone usage, inner screen turn black and unresponsive, but outer screen still remain usable. Replacing new screen or changning flex Cable was costly to repair, so ended up selling 2nd hand to a shop owner. Have no more faith in acquiring new Samsung Fold Series.
Mine expired 2 weeks ago. And my Main screen blanked out. Around the same time I got System UI errors at the bottom of the phone. The coincidence. Front screen is fine. When I fold open the phone the screen never turns on. Pressing power button does nothing.
Having issue now, too. The inner screen is viewable, but the touchscreen doesn't work at all, and I can't open any apps. Bought mine in Nov 2022, so probably no more warranty. This sucks cause it's an expensive phone 😢
I do have the same problem bro. I removed the sim to change it and then the inner display touch stoped working. But I can still use the spen without any issues
So I don't have a warranty, and it seems I will be paying out of pocket. I think it's still unfair, warranty or not, it's not our fault that the phone has become defective due to their negligence.
Hi there, I'm sorry to hear about your F4 issue. My F4 was repaired free of charge as it was not my fault. Samsung technician said that the flexi wires behind the hinge connecting both screens must have come out of position. Have you got yours checked yet?

My repair was covered by warranty so I didn't have to pay otherwise it would have been a very expensive repair for me. Have you got yours sorted?
Experienced this issue this week for my Fold 4. It first started slow where it would go black screen at certain angles and then now anytime I open the inner screen it goes black. Now can only have the inner display on only if the phone is plugged into an external power source, like a plug or power bank. The outer screen is fine but looks like a hardware issue with the inner display connectors to the battery.

I got the same issue today. It's a software thing. For the inner screen to come on, you have to make sure the outer screen isn't active before you unfold the inner screen. Samsung should do better with their Patch releases please.
Inam facing same problem. Samsung service centre suggested to replace the inner display. As the phone is out of warranty. The inner display change costing is very high.. Disappointed with Samsung Foldable phone.
WOW after i watch this video i just found that my inner screen got black when 75% opened, but under 75% its working fine, and also my inner screen 100% fine if i use bluetooth headset, and also 100% fine if i just use for anything that doest use speaker, but fo anything need to turn on speaker its got black
The Samsung technician said my phone's motherboard connection has broken hense the inner screen didn't work but the outer screen was working. Also, the warranty was applicable, so that was great. Is it a fold4? If so, the warranty is 2 years. Do contact Samsung to book your repair. I have published another video after this video of the repair process that we went through, so do check it out.
Change the FLEX CABLE! Thats all you have to do. Search for flex cable there are two, one for the screen and one for battery. maybe you only need one of them. Kosts are under 20! The only thing left is you have to do it by yourself, otherwise someone will charge you big for that

If any of those connectors come lose, the inner screen stops working. The repaired is very expensive due to the fact that the battery is glued down, so when they change the inner screen, the battery, hinge, and frames have to be changed. I've been told it's a hardware issue, but I've noticed a few people have commented here saying this happened after they did a recent update - I'm not sure if this is just a coincidence.

Try Unfolding it bit by bit, slowly if it works like everything is ok except it will not work if you do it normally not slowly According to Samsung Repair, the cause of this if not damaged was due to the software update, problems after downloading the update and the device freezes. Got mine pending repair and I checked their diagnosis it was due to the November 30, 2023 update.
According to samsung after I service it... those pieces inside the phone are fragile that after a 1 inch fall it might damage the phone even if theres a hinge protection.

The EXACT same thing happened to my fold 4 inner screen recently. Tried switching on and off, soft and hard reset....No joy. Finally decided to send the device off to samsung repair as the warranty is valid for 2 years. They did a full repair (no charge) and replaced the inner screen. Problem SOLVED and the whole unit feels so much better when opening and closing....much more solid with no disgusting cracking noises. The whole process took 4 days. Yes same for both fold 3 and 4. Same issues lasted 1 year and 6 months for both. Tech says as everyone says inner cable needs 2 b replaced. Yea no more folds s25 ultra when it comes out

The technician explained that there are hairline wires that connect both the inner screen through the hinge. If any of the hairline wires disconnects, the screen doesn't work. Here the same problem. I went to samsung and get to told me that there were scratches on the edges of my phone, meaning that i must have dropped my phone. It was absolutely not true but ok. I solved the problem today by buying an Iphone 15 pro. Never a samsung again.

It happened to me the outer screen died first then the inner screen. If your still under warranty send it back. I got a brand new handset with one more payment left on the contract
Same problem, warranty only one year. I bought it January 3d 2023. Now it's broken in February 2024. This product has an issue. Most likely switching to a different brand . They problem i have a lot of Samsung products that i have to throw away and get new ones. Huge loss but this is a huge fraud by Samsung.
For me if I don't have my phone plugged in ti charge, the outer screen won't work. If I close the phone from tablet mode to phone mode, it shuts off my phone 😢

Happened to me. Verizon refuses to warranty it, and Samsung wants $110 I don't have to ship to them. Verizon said they would give me a free phone and then they went ahead and put it on a new line and threw my sim in it to keep my number. I don't use the line they opened and they said if I close then I would have to pay for the phone I got for free. Total bullshit. Didn't even have it a year, no scratch, no broke. Screen, nothing

It's the flex cable that's bad. I had the same problem and tried to fix it..didnt work. Don't buy the fold. Got the S24 and am happy and am done with folds
This is NOT a hardware issue. Anyone who says it's the flex whatever BS, doesn't know what they are talking about. This is a software issue that happens after updates, which even includes a "ONE UI Has stopped working" message. How can anyone say that this isn't a software issue.
It's 100% a hardware issue. My unit started behaving exactly the same way in April 2023. Even after a factory reset, multiple resets even. Samsung support however was unhelpful and didn't fix it and sent it broken back to me.
its 1000% the flex cable!!!! do your research the software crashes due to the cable issues, it causes all sorts of sound issues as well when its under stress, the failure rate of this is 50%

After publishing this video and receiving so many comments, I realise how much of a big issue everyone is experiencing. It seems like a bit of a coincidence that many people experience this issue following the expiry of the warranty. Samsung really should do more to support customers who find themselves in similar situations, having spent a hefty amount on the phone.
I've bought Samsung products for years and when my screen went out on my fold 3, they offered no assistance at all except for replacing it for 199.00 I'm finished with their products.
I regret buying this crap phone so expensive and problems from the beginning we bought 3 all had issues. Going back to apple not only is it more reliable but better resale value
Common issue it seems, Samsung not doing shit about it.... they just say repair for a new screen... it's stupid because the screen actually works, so it's a failure to their design and no responsibilities taken.

Same with mine. When i closed my big screen, around 90degres, the fold will suddently turning off. So it wont move to small(front screen). Any clues?

I just got this problem after doing the UI 6.0 update, phone is only a year and half old. A day after doing the update, middle screen doesn't work smh

bout two days ago and now this is happening to my phone as well. i cant even get it to turn on. left it on charger overnight. all started when i took a picture and my phone shuts off immediately and havent been able to get it to turn on since.

If your device is under warranty, you can contact Samsung online or in store and see if they will repair it free of charge. With my Fold 4, Samsung repaired it free of charge under the warranty. However, with my Fold 5, they didn't repair it free of charge, I had to pay £514. All the best.
Happen to me today as well and samsung can't fix it. They said I have to buy a new one. I recommend never buy a samsung flip or fold

Its been happening to me. I watched a video on massaging the phone as it was something loose, skeptical it would work, however, my phone has worked perfectly since fingers crossed
My samsung zfold4 wasnt working due a software error. I tried forcing reset didn't work
I shut it down , and turn it on normally and it worked

Hi guys,I have same issue started yesterday inner screen can show whatever in the small screen but click any bitton not responding like black line on the hinge area.

I'm sorry to hear about your Z fold 4 issue. Yes, my one was repaired by Samsung free of charge under warranty. The technician explained that there are hairline wires that connect both the inner screen through the hinge. If any of the hairline wires disconnects, the screen doesn't work. Here the same problem. I went to samsung and get to told me that there were scratches on the edges of my phone, meaning that i must have dropped my phone. It was absolutely not true but ok. I solved the problem today by buying an Iphone 15 pro. Never a samsung again.
Said exactly the same to me, now I have to pay for a contract for a whole year, and have to buy another phone just to use my contract.

Unfortunately, there was no solution other than the repair job. I was lucky with Fold 4, Samsung repaired it free of charge under warranty. However, with my Fold 5, even under warranty, I had to pay for the repaired. If your phone is still under warranty, please contact Samsung, and they will guide you through the repair process. The samsung escalation team decline that software updates are breaking their own phones
Had this issue on 2 devices now.. sent phone in for repair via Vodafone both times received a brand new device.

It happened to me the outer screen died first then the inner screen.
If your still under warranty send it back.
I got a brand new handset with one more payment left on the contract

Same problem, warranty only one year. I bought it January 3d 2023. Now it's broken in February 2024.
This product has an issue. Most likely switching to a different brand . They problem i have a lot of Samsung products that i have to throw away and get new ones. Huge loss but this is a huge fraud by Samsung.
For me if I don't have my phone plugged in ti charge, the outer screen won't work. If I close the phone from tablet mode to phone mode, it shuts off my phone 😢

Happened to me. Verizon refuses to warranty it, and Samsung wants $110 I don't have to ship to them. Verizon said they would give me a free phone and then they went ahead and put it on a new line and threw my sim in it to keep my number. I don't use the line they opened and they said if I close then I would have to pay for the phone I got for free. Total bullshit. Didn't even have it a year, no scratch, no broke. Screen, nothing
my front screen on my Samsung fold 5 died I'm lucky that the double screen didn't.
Now I have to check if its still under warranty

Same problem after one ui software update
you need new ribbon cables in the center of the phone. mine comes on but main screen is black
try switching front screen off with side button and then opening centre screen
It's the flex cable that's bad. I had the same problem and tried to fix it..didnt work. Don't buy the fold. Got the S24 and am happy and am done with folds
This is NOT a hardware issue. Anyone who says it's the flex whatever BS, doesn't know what they are talking about. This is a software issue that happens after updates, which even includes a "ONE UI Has stopped working" message. How can anyone say that this isn't a software issue.

It's 100% a hardware issue. My unit started behaving exactly the same way in April 2023. Even after a factory reset, multiple resets even. Samsung support however was unhelpful and didn't fix it and sent it broken back to me.
Idk if it's hardware or not but my phone got this problem after update so yeah...
its 1000% the flex cable!!!! do your research the software crashes due to the cable issues, it causes all sorts of sound issues as well when its under stress, the failure rate of this is 50%

Sameee. Mine happened after the update. When i restart the phone i can see that the main screen boots up - i see the samsung screen through a small gap because of my case. But when i open it, it goes completely black

try this when the external display is on turn it off and open your phone, the internal screen may turn on if the external screen is off 🙂
the cable on the under flex the screen is broken has a crack on it Samsung needs to change it for a new one

After publishing this video and receiving so many comments, I realise how much of a big issue everyone is experiencing. It seems like a bit of a coincidence that many people experience this issue following the expiry of the warranty. Samsung really should do more to support customers who find themselves in similar situations, having spent a hefty amount on the phone.

I've bought Samsung products for years and when my screen went out on my fold 3, they offered no assistance at all except for replacing it for 199.00 I'm finished with their products.

Common issue it seems, Samsung not doing shit about it.... they just say repair for a new screen... it's stupid because the screen actually works, so it's a failure to their design and no responsibilities taken.
Same with my fold 4, the actual problem is that Fold 6 phone is arrived in the market.. these problems are intentionally created.. looks like..
