  • When it rains, it pours? It definitely poured at Overland Expo West, and that wasn't even the worst of my problems on this trip. The Jeep Gladiator broke down catastrophically TWICE on this 2 week trip. It was definitely an adventure.

O Shaun, the first time we took our truck camper from Melbourne, Victoria to Brisbane, Queensland we had major problems. We could not understand why the truck kept on wanting to lift. It turned out truck did not have the right springs for the weight of the truck camper. We had to buy a brand new truck and get all the upgrades done. I was so pissed off at the time, but it did not stop our overlanding adventures around Australia, just money. Love Rolanda

Wow, what an experience that must have been. I've got to hand it to Rob for demonstrating exactly how this community operates when something goes wrong. His family adapted to help in this situation, which I'm sure must have been difficult while traveling with a small child. Shaun, nicely done troubleshooting and problem solving both significant breakdowns. I was pretty shocked that in a couple of days, the trail destroyer was on its way to the next event. I'm sure by now you've got a resolution on the transmission issue. I'm looking forward to seeing the next video with that information. I'm sure EPIC will want to take a close look at the truck and AMW will likely want to get some feedback as well. Sincerely, what a flippin' awesome video.

Camaraderie is great in the hobby isn't it. Just to ask have you got a double cardan u-joint on the DS's? If so they should be greased every 3000-5000kms. For you and the hot weather travel I would say 3000. Pain to do as my LT V8 JK has them (they are smoother and better driveline angles IMO) and I grease them religiously. Drawbacks of adding big HP - I am only 355HP but I carry a hard line grease gun in my kit for this. Sorry for the preach but glad it all worked out for you.

Sorry to see all the trouble you had on this trip Shawn. I'm surprised the trans and T case lasted so long with all the power going through them and what the Trail Destroyer has gone through. Still a fantastic video! Stay safe!

Sorry for the trouble you had to endure, but it was a pretty entertaining UA-cam video. :) And you were in my neck of the woods, I live in Caldwell Idaho, very near Boise. Thanks for all the hard work you put into entertaining us, your videos are top notch and so fun to watch.

I just wanted to say how much you impressed me with your channel. I'm always looking for a content creator that provides quality experiences with real-life examples. Your repair experience and reaction was impressive. I have subscribed. I hope the little one is okay. He's a trooper.

Happy they were able to help you out at Summit. They have a great reputation. Considering you were a lot closer to Phoenix, why did you use one of our local shops? We have at least a dozen shops that could have helped you out.

Summit was overwhelmingly the most recommended when I asked for suggestions and were the quickest to come up with a solution.

Pretty jealous that you saw a Gila Monster in a day, as I've been here 6 years and still waiting. Glad to see you made it to the home state - figures you'd be thrown every possible curveball.
Hopefully will catch you at the next Expo West!
