Crazy to think this review was ten years ago and it was the early stages of UA-cam movie review/commentary channels working together, Schmoes/Chris Stuckmann/Double Toasted/etc. A decade later, some still exist, some not so well, but still good to see you've kept your core audience and not only existing, but still thriving in the present day. Seriously, good for you and I hope another decade of success for you.
This eventually evolved into the era of screen junkies amc/collider movie talk and it was incredible. Feels like that sort of format will never happen again
The amount of heads getting smashed with a giant hammer was amazing. I have to agree with the cool fake part, but it really was cool. The part in the end where Zeus & the gang descends and starts kicking ass, was really really cool. So much blood.
I don't know about anyone else, but I was extremely entertained by this movie. Great action sequences and a simple story to hold it all together makes this an all around good time.
I think it's mostly because directors think people want character that will basically have sex a lot and Artemis doesn't fit the memo in their minds which is a darn shame since yeah she is pretty cool.
The only actors I like that have given a great speech before they battle would be... Mel Gibson (Braveheart) and Gerard Butler (300). I don't know who else has given an awesome goosebumping speech. Any additions?
As a greek the way Hollywood sees aincient Greece is laughable...Sorry but the art directors are way off track..And why are all of those films so damn dark? Greece is luminous and sunny 98% of the year ;D
They usually have no idea how to do anything right that isn't from an Anglo culture (which usually explains the casting). Be lucky you don't get constantly portrayed as Nazis and nothing else.
I would have liked this movie better if they didn't force the romance down your throat. Also the beginning was very cliched. Now favorite Greek thing...I personally like the original mythology. Yup, I'm sticking to that. Now if only I could get a good movie about Japanese mythology that isn't an anime...
AC: Odyssey is my favorite game at the moment and for movies about Greek mythology I have to say Immortals is my favorite. Those slow motion scenes of Zeus or Aphrodite were so awesome.
yeaI think that was my biggest issue, in the beginning you get this story about the titans, and I expected the titans to come out within like 30 or 40 mins, them just get released and just destroy greece, and it would be the gods joining thesius and his army to fight against them... and I agree the gods were too young, I like that they made Zeus this attractive man and all but there are attractive older men who are badass who could take on the role
I watched this movie in theaters with my dad. The only part I remember clearly (for reasons that will soon become obvious) is the romance scene some ways in the movie. (SPOILERS) Freida Pinto is treating Henry Cavill's wounds, then they kiss, and then she takes off her dress. Thing is, she's standing so close in front of the camera that, in one moment, you see the back of her dress, and in the next moment, her naked ass is on an entire half the screen. When that happened, I distinctly remember a guy behind me (in an otherwise empty theater) saying "Damn." Sadly, for reasons I will never quite comprehend, it turned out Freida Pinto used a body double for that shot. Other than that, I don't remember the movie so well. Freida Pinto was really good in "Blunt Force Trauma," though
yeah fredia pinto is so sexy and she was good in rise of the planet of the apes i love her and i didnt see this movie and i want to see this movie all becuase of she in this movie i know it had bad reviews but i will still enjoyed it no matter what but that just me in my opinion we all have our opinion dont we
Sorry... more ranting and questions: Why did Hyperion need the Oracle anyway? He had all those minions, why not search the maze cave until he found it? If he had looked around at all in there, I'm sure he could have spotted that strangely out of place rock. One solid hit with a hammer would have split the rock and revealed the bow. Jeeze!
Wrath of the Titans was not that bad. The directors listened to those that hated the Clash remake and made the changes they felt they needed to made. I mentioned that in my review.
They should totally make a modern game based on Greek mythology. That would be so awesome. Maybe you could be some bad ass dude, battling titans and minotaur and Medusa and like.... Zeus!!! You could fight Hydra, and like, break a ship apart and impale the hydras skull on the mast. You could like, have 2 knives on chains. it would be EPIC!!!! Alas, as far as I know, no such game exists, so I'm going to have to say Kid Icaris as my favorite Greek based game..... *sigh* maybe someday......
man.. the MAIN gripe i had about the movie is when it went to the scenes on mount olympus, like that WHOLE set was like Pure Green Screen and you could just tell
yes i was not denying that but look at what was happening in it, not the way the gods where but the setup of things in it like tartarus being in a mountain on earths surface or how the gods looked or a mortal using a gods or demigods weapon and other things like that
Wayyyyy too much talking, not enough action. And the way the gods were depicted was just awful. And someone plz explain y ppl were fighting in the sky at the end.
The Odyssey starring Armand ASsante as Odysseus. It's long ,well made and pretty accurate too, they don't make accurate myth films anymore, nor do I suspect they will again :C (full film in one video @ watch?v=c-7_8y-McLo ) As a Greek-mythology fan I don't understand why they even used Greek mythology if EVERY ASPECT WAS INACCURATE. EVERYTHING. Why didn't they just make their own fantasy world??
i was so disappointed when i watch this movie and i was hoping for so much more, the gods are looking as a normal humans even not like been gods and titans are calling titans because they are like titan or big not like rats in the cage :P pathetic
ahhh i see. I still really want to see it, i like the look of the action. If i see it for like $5 used at the old movie store, should i buy? or is it not even worth that do you think?
I honestly thought this movie was shit and I think that the writers of 'Greek mythology' movies in Hollywood should be banned from the writers guild. Don't pretend like killing of Meneloas in Troy, putting Heracles in a Roman setting or throwing Ares with a stupid hat into a wall for no reason is acceptable! Please show some respect for culture!
And how about what they did to Themistocles, the guy who was basically responsible for Athens's naval might? I absolutely hated how they portrayed him.
Actually no. I talked to a Greek tour guide who knew a lot on the subject. It was just the Spartans. However, they were more than 300 strong, but Leonidas only wanted 300 fighting at a time so that when he shouted orders they could all hear him.
I started to watch it, and honestly, i couldnt get pass the slow slow slow slow pace, it started awesome with the first fight scene, but then got boring, i might just skip to the half and enjoy the fights, btw jeremy, what you think of the Wrath of Titan Trailer? it seems good to me, alot of action.(i am a sucker for mythology.)
I'm mainly sick of all these Greek God movies, like, there is a whole WORLD out there with interesting mythologies that would make for great movies. I'm tired of seeing the same bland shit.
Especially when all of the Greek movies recently have been utter shit. I'd enjoy seeing any mythology in a movie if it was decent. It's not the Greek thing that's the problem for me, so much as the quality of the film it's featured in.
i watched some episodes from ancient aliens and this battle was described in hieroglyphics. they even found proof of nuclear weapons being used before pyramids were built. so it's gonna be pretty cool watchin this
Something I thought was cool about this movie is that Zeus wasn't an old dude with a beard. That's how he is represented in just about every other movie or story. To have him a much younger guy was a nice paradigm shift. I thought the movie was cool but it coulda been better. At least it didn't put me to sleep like the new Clash of the Titans did.
It's interesting that you referred to Henry Cavill as Superman as he will in fact be playing Superman in the new reboot. Coincidence, or was that a subtle reference?
I actually thought Immortals was really good. I thought it was just awesome. The gods were so cool and the bow and arrow and the titans. It was an enjoyable movie
Attended a free screening and it was eh, definitely felt like I had seen it before and had a "Why didn't you just do that at the beginning of the movie, because you know you could have" sort of ending.
I was thinking after the movie that I really wanted to see a faithful adaptation of the God of War franchise made into a movie... Have it based on the first game where he goes after Ares.
1. the monkeys that wrote the scenario were drunk and drugged(not the sleeping kind) 2. the godly action scenes were few and without any meaning(one hit slow motion kills no one on one duels) 3. the ending was going for a sequel that will never happen
I had these books with accompanying cassette tapes, that were all about Greek mythology, they were awesome, which is why I enjoyed Disney's Heracles so much, 'cause I could compare the two & chuckle, also I was a semi-fan of the Heracles & Xena series.
you should review anime movies like evangelion1.0: you are (not) alone, evangelion2.0:you (cannot) advance, and the upcoming movie coming in January for like 2 days, evangelion3.0:you (cannot) redo.
300 rips apart history in so many ways, I don't know what you're talking about. but it's executed in such a stylish way, and demonstrates the honour and sacrifice that characterized the Spartan city-state, that it doesn't matter. 1. never showed the helots in the city. the population was ~60% slave-based; 2. not just 300 spartans fought. I know it´s just a movie but wouldn´t you be angry if they made a superman movie where they change everything like making him unable to fly or giving him a pink suit ?... My point is, if it ain´t broken don´t fix it... And 300 is history turned legend, I know it´s not mythology but all those stories were based on something...
Here's a Biblical reference possibly alluding to the heroes of Greek mythology. Genesis 6:4 "There were giants on the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men who were of old, men of renown."
What annoyed me in this movie (character and mythology wise) was that zues killed one of his fellow gods. Also how on mount olympus the 5 gods you see look like there the only gods there.
Percy Jackson Lightening Thief thing...whatever it's called. It's childish, cute, funny, entertaining Greek mythology movie. Plus the dude with the goat legs is just awesome.
I thought this movie was alright, but Artemis is brunette and I felt like the titans were just really fast demons . . . it didn't make sense. The god's had powers . . . why didn't they use it? Just really confused me and the Wrath of the Titans is soooo much better but this could've been a great movie . . . just needed more gods . . . and wish it was better overall
I really liked how exaggerated everything was because that is essentially what a legend is: an exaggeration...but during the fight scene I was kinda like "Why aren't the titans more bad ass? and where are all the other gods?!" and then the whole part where the gods and titans can die...isn't the whole point of "IMMORTAL" the fact that they can't die? My thoughts that's all
My favorite story about Greek Gods is the manga "Knights of the Zodiac: The Lost Canvas". One big tragedy of man vs. God, and how man can or cannot prevail.
I guess am probably the only person who is here in 2020...but I just watched your review of the movie Immortals and at 1:50 you called Henry Cavill Superman .That is the moment ..I know you just predicted the future without you even noticing ..Thanks again ...from Germany
Homer'd Iliad is my favourite (except that chapter about all the ships etc) Troy was an ok adaptation of the story, but left out the gods role in it. Brad Pitt & Sean Bean, were good cast choices but not orlando bloom and diane kruger. it would be great to see Home'rs Iliad made with all of the gods cast well and their comedy and divine actions included (might need to be 2 movies). Peter Jackson as director maybe
" -Henry Cavill looks like superman..." If only you knew Jeremy...
***** Henry Cavill plays Superman in Man of Steel as well
***** his comment was "if only you knew jeremy.." to the jeremy at the time of the video, 3 years ago, god you're so dense haha
thatevilchicken he was already cast as Superman before the movie premiered!
@Vijay Kiran When does he say exactly this phrase? I've only found this 1:37.
2:57 GOD OF WAR
He predicted dceu

It's so funny to watch this after man of steel
The irony!
Because he also played Superman?
@@RedShirtRemyStarship yessss.. 😴
It's came out on 11-11-11 Skyrim came out that day that was awesome.
The amount of heads getting smashed with a giant hammer was amazing. I have to agree with the cool fake part, but it really was cool. The part in the end where Zeus & the gang descends and starts kicking ass, was really really cool.

"I think it's Henry Cavill"
He had no idea who he was dealing with...
I know it came out years ago, but does anyone remember Spartan: Total Warrior? I loved that game!
I want to be the one that says it... God of War.
Really the only thing that made it cool. I'm so over now cause they'd beat it into our heads in school.
dude, the titans in this film are like the first enemys that show up in god of war 1
Greek mythology movies don't really have much of Artemis. Which is a shame. She's awesome! In the future, I would like to see more of her.
I think it's mostly because directors think people want character that will basically have sex a lot and Artemis doesn't fit the memo in their minds which is a darn shame since yeah she is pretty cool.
Well there aren't really a lot of myths with Artemis besides Orion and possibly a few others
I wonder if he re-reviewed this movie would his opinion have changed with the way the world is now
The only actors I like that have given a great speech before they battle would be... Mel Gibson (Braveheart) and Gerard Butler (300). I don't know who else has given an awesome goosebumping speech. Any additions?
What about Aragorn's speech at the end of "Return of the King"? That gave me goosebumps!
Oh yes, I forgot that one! Thaanks for mentioning it!
***** What about Elizabeth Swann's in Pirates 3... oh wait...
Haaaa. That was corny actually. Lol.
independence day? lol

how come there is a sight one that bow. back then bows didnt have sight
and why does it look more of a modern recurve than an ancient composite bow

There's 3 kinds of apologies; real apologies, Mel Gibson's apologies, and Family Guy Mel Gibson Apologies. Jeremy's apology here was the third one. :D

God of War!
So, speaking of William Wallace, will you be reviewing Braveheart at some point?
Kid Icarus uprising
+Gohanxx2 preach
+Gohanxx2 Was thinking the same thing xD
Although I still love God of War
I'm so confused. It's not troy, 300, clash of titans remake, Hercules...wait what? Is eva green in a boat?
hey! the shomoes!
Age of Mythology, it's not just Greek but you can play as Greek gods (Its a real time strategy game) I grew up on this game.
I’m from the future of 2023 to tell you that Henry Cavill was indeed Superman
Greek gods can’t die! They can only be forgotten!
I'm mainly sick of all these Greek God movies, like, there is a whole WORLD out there with interesting mythologies that would make for great movies. I'm tired of seeing the same bland shit.
one does not get sick of Greek God movies with all the fighting and the blood

i totally agree with you
if only 47 ronin didnt go down the shit hole
Yeah the story of 300 was an actual event, but I have no idea why they're releasing a sequel.
Percy Jackson
i watched some episodes from ancient aliens and this battle was described in hieroglyphics. they even found proof of nuclear weapons being used before pyramids were built. so it's gonna be pretty cool watchin this

In the description it says no Sam Worthigton, lol
It's interesting that you referred to Henry Cavill as Superman as he will in fact be playing Superman in the new reboot. Coincidence, or was that a subtle reference?
Ive seen that bow before, it was used in Conquest by Lucio Fulci.
Age of Mythology... has everything from Greek deities to Norse to Egyptians. and... in the expansion, actual Titans! XD
So I get the drunk viewing recommendation but would you consider this a positive or rotten review, Jeremy?
I was thinking after the movie that I really wanted to see a faithful adaptation of the God of War franchise made into a movie... Have it based on the first game where he goes after Ares.
Hey Jeremy can you review Troy? Sorry if you haven't noticed I've been throwing a lot of suggestions.
It's pronounced how it's spelt. "Cav-ill" Cavill. Not Caville.
Basically, he found Hank's bow from the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon.
"Remember when the platform was sliding into the fire pit and I said 'Goodbye' and you were like
'No way!'"
1. the monkeys that wrote the scenario were drunk and drugged(not the sleeping kind)
2. the godly action scenes were few and without any meaning(one hit slow motion kills no one on one duels)
3. the ending was going for a sequel that will never happen
1. never showed the helots in the city. the population was ~60% slave-based;
2. not just 300 spartans fought. Battle of Thermopolae involved a thousand Thepians and Thebans + more;
3. Demesthones was not Spartan, he was a local of north greece;
4. Theron is fictitious
The original Jason and the Argonauts movie. Watch in appreciation mode as it doesn't hold a candle to today's special effects, acting and movie making style, but for when it came out? Amazing.
"Henry Cavil shows us why he is the superman".......Jeremy, you sure are the psychic.
agree with the 3 good fx sceens but for me the movie crumbles when i saw the construction structural bars on the titans cage...literaly constructions material. aprox 2:04 on the sceen
Damn the opening to this video is funny as heck. I need to watch this movie
looool when Jeremy mentions Henry cavill giving a superman speech and acting as superman, turns out Henry cavill managed to play superman
Immortals felt dirty, Mickey Rourke did some cruel shit
i enjoyed darksiders for pc... is that greek mythology?
The funny ting is when I found out when it is coming out I said it wouldn't have a chance because Skyrim was coming out.
This movie is interesting after seeing Man of Steel but if you didn't it's just, meh. Was it explained why Titans just look normal?
Love the line "From the producers of..." - Why not "From the company which paid for..."?!
I know this movie is old but I like Jason And Argonauts form the 60's with the stop motion effects.
GOD OF WAR. Why even mention it? It goes without saying.
Here's a Biblical reference possibly alluding to the heroes of Greek mythology. Genesis 6:4 "There were giants on the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men who were of old, men of renown."
When did superman get quincy powers
What annoyed me in this movie (character and mythology wise) was that zues killed one of his fellow gods. Also how on mount olympus the 5 gods you see look like there the only gods there.
Why did moves like jagger be the ad before Jeremy Jahns damnet youtube
Percy Jackson Lightening Thief thing...whatever it's called. It's childish, cute, funny, entertaining Greek mythology movie. Plus the dude with the goat legs is just awesome.
Favorite Greek mythology figure: Hepheastos. Why? Because he's the guy behind the screens of Olympus who makes the gadgets for the Gods...
Halo. Spartans are Greek right?
JeremyJahns: I'm sorry for being more right than wrong. That shall be my apology.
My thoughts that's all
1:39 He didn't even know Henry was gonna be superman.
Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis. (retelling of the myth of Cupid and Psyche)
In Greek mythology the Olympians are always dominant to every war they fought and they always win without casualties.
Hey jeremy, please do a review of the Chronicle trailer, i would love to hear what you have to say.
My favorite story about Greek Gods is the manga "Knights of the Zodiac: The Lost Canvas".
One big tragedy of man vs. God, and how man can or cannot prevail.

he was announced as Superman before this video was made, Jeremy knew because it was announced
You mean the very old one?... Yes I have, it´s very fun actually, but it´s a little dated don´t you think?
Why does Jeremy Jahns always wear the same shirt for evey review?
Homer'd Iliad is my favourite (except that chapter about all the ships etc)
Troy was an ok adaptation of the story, but left out the gods role in it. Brad Pitt & Sean Bean, were good cast choices but not orlando bloom and diane kruger. it would be great to see Home'rs Iliad made with all of the gods cast well and their comedy and divine actions included (might need to be 2 movies).
