I've made many of these over the past few yrs. Today I decided to do the border a little different & it looks amazing. I ch 1 & sc in same stitch, then I did 3dc in the center of the 5dc from the previous row. On the 3rd dc I did a picot of ch of 3 & sl st back into the 1st stitch, then continued with the remaining 2 dc then sc in the dc from the previous row
I am just echoing all of the positive statements from all of the reviews. I have watched many tutorials but this was so easy to understand and carry through.....My baby hat turned out adorable and I thank you Wooly Wonders Crochet!!!!
This is a wonderful tutorial for a newbie. I have gone back to crochet, which I learned as a girl, since I retired some months ago. I want to crochet soft hats to donate to NICUs and cancer treatment centers -- and keep my hands busy while I listen to books! I tried this hat for the newborn size three times, following your video (stop, start, stop, start, go back, start, stop... and so on, paying careful attention to the details) until, on the fourth try, it clicked and my finished product was perfect! Thank you for your excellent instruction and extremely clear videos. I'll be trying more of your projects and, because you are such a good teacher, I now feel like I'll achieve success much faster than I did with this very first project. Nicely done.
I just finished this. It took me probably about an hour. I made it for a friend who is due very soon with a baby girl. I wish I could post a picture of it here. I love this pattern! Thank you for sharing it with us via tutorial.
Hello ☺it's a pleasure to follow up your crocheting patterns💖 to be honest I've learnt crushing watching you ,and it's so nice an easy you making it, I believe you can be the best teacher ever.☺
you're the first person I've seen who hasn't used a little marker to mark where your starting position is. I don't know how you don't lose your place lol. Great video.
@@annebk4710 With this pattern, you can tell when you come to the end of a round because of the height of the stitches from the previous round. That's why you might not need a marker for this little hat, but if that makes you more sure of when to stop, do whatever is easy for you. Happy crocheting!
Thanks for the video, very easy to follow and your voice and accent are lovely! I wish I could upload my version of this cute hat, I don't know how to do it.
I love your tutorial videos. Could this be made using DK weight yarn at all. I'm struggling to find a little girls hat (ages 3 and ages 6) using DK yarn?
Thanks for sharing this cute pattern and tutorial! Plan to try in premie sizes (9-11" circ.), which would start with dc (or use hdc instead). Just curious why you didn't work over the tail in the magic circle.
I am trying to make an adult size hat... after 11 rows mine looks like this..... so is it OK to continue the same till I get the required length... I am doubtful if I would get the required circumference for an adult.... please guide
can you add a onzie to your list to make? so far you've put all I wanted into videos. Thank you! can you provide written patterns to print? especially the recent cream and green chunky sweater. and how do you feel if I sell some items I make from your videos for a non profit fundraiser?
HI +Emily Horton thank you! I was thinking of doing a onsie soon so I will definitely add it to my list. I have made some of my written patterns available - please see the description box below the video. I will try and get round to adding the green sweater to the written patterns for you within the next week :) You are welcome to sell any finished projects but could you please credit my channel Wooly Wonders Crochet. Thank you very much x
+Bex Gidman thank you! Yes, just do not change the last round of the hat to make the shells (explained at the end of tutorial) and then work a round of 1dc into each stitch. Thank you for watching x
? The written pattern seems to be different is there a pattern that matches this? I do not see the 3 and 4 dc rows in the written pattern. And it does not explain how to do the shells in the written pattern. If I had not watched this I would not know to go down into the dc below.
I'm new so, of course, I have a bunch of questions. I noticed that, for each new round at the beginning, you are only doing ch 1, even though dc usually requires ch 3. Are you doing this so that the top of the hat will have some curvature? if not, can you help me understand the reasoning behind it. knowing the "whys" helps me. thanks!
+vegangelist -- I'm not WoolyWondersCrochet, but I can answer. You are correct that double crochet would be a chain-3, but as she says, the single crochet is not counted as a stitch, and is not the start of a double crochet. You start the dc just from the yarn-over. I hope I explained that well (it made sense in my head).
Plain E Thanks. Just from reading it, it doesn't make sense entirely but I've since (just this past weekend) tried a shell border so now I understand the structure of the shell stitch - that the stitches on the sides are laying more horizontally and, thus, don't need the height. Thanks again. Now I get it :)
When you chain 1, it stops the previous stitch from blending into the next stitch - without distracting from the pattern. You are correct, it adds to the structure of the pattern.
Help! Plz! Why is your hat already "domed" on just third round and mine flat as pancake? I'm following you exactly, it's not hard to follow you at all which is why I like you so. I have frogged a few times and yet no difference??
What follows after round 1 ?? I could NEVER find the written instructions so I could make this Newborn hat! Do we have to pay for the pattern in order to get the instructions??? Disappointed if I have to do THAT since most patterns on Utube are Free tutorial with written instructions!!!! I guess i WON'T BE MAKING YOUR HAT!!!! ;(
Thank you for this detailed tutorial! You provide the most clarification on your process even I, as a beginner, can follow. ❤️

I love this stitch. It works very well.
you're the first person I've seen who hasn't used a little marker to mark where your starting position is. I don't know how you don't lose your place lol. Great video.
I also need a marker, but I'm still a newbie and I expect that experience helps.

I love your video but What size hook are you using plz
If I used s smaller hook I wonder if I could make this in a preemie size to donate.
How do you keep the hat in a dome shape? Mine was great until I got to row 4 and then it flattened out.
Thanks for sharing this cute pattern and tutorial! Plan to try in premie sizes (9-11" circ.), which would start with dc (or use hdc instead). Just curious why you didn't work over the tail in the magic circle.

hi. thanks for the video. I'm going to make this for my daughter. is there a way of finishing this so that it has a straight edge?
+Bex Gidman thank you! Yes, just do not change the last round of the hat to make the shells (explained at the end of tutorial) and then work a round of 1dc into each stitch. Thank you for watching x
+WoolyWondersCrochet Thats great! thank you very much for your reply 😊
could you do a baby turban hat? I've been wanting to do one.... but I can't find a tutorial I like

I have a much thinner yarn, so, how can I adjust the pattern for the thinner yarn?? I tend to have this problem very often :(
I'm new so, of course, I have a bunch of questions.

can u upload triangular shape shawl
Hi +angel raj I do have a shawl tutorial on my channel (purple shawl in photo). Thank you for watching x
you dont say what size hook or what weight yarn to use. could you please let me know.
Tem como traduzir o vídeo
which yarn should be used? can you please tell the ply rather than the brand. I stay in India and I don't get the same brands here.
Hi Reshma, in the description box I say to use any worsted weight yarn x
Reshma Lohia I would say 10 ply
is it normal for it to look flat for adult size after round 4
With the adult size the hat will get it shape later than the other sizes. Thank you for watching x
i don't see the description box
found it lol
thank you
what size hook??

I missed hook size?
Quick question - what size hook and yarn?
Please see the description box below the video. Thank you x
The description states a 5mm (US H) hook and Aran weight yarn (sometimes called Medium/worsted, sometimes a bit heavier).
I want to crochet for a 7 year old and a 10 year old...so both 10 DC or 1 10 and 1 11??
found my answer in the video.
Marianne Corman crochet
Hardest pattern ever to learn yall, imma stick to my simple hats.
En latin porfa soi chilena
You are actually incorrect about sizing difference/number of stitches in R1. And you are suppose to chain up 3 BEFORE beginning a round when using dc.
I always just ch1. I find this makes it neater. x
What follows after round 1 ?? I could NEVER find the written instructions so I could make this Newborn hat! Do we have to pay for the pattern in order to get the instructions??? Disappointed if I have to do THAT since most patterns on Utube are Free tutorial with written instructions!!!! I guess i WON'T BE MAKING YOUR HAT!!!! ;(
good tutorial but a shame you don't take a couple of seconds to say what size crochet hook you're using
Thank you. If you look in the description box I always state it there x
How do you access the description box?
