This was the best "Day in the life of a teacher" video that I've seen! I'm 21 and just recently decided that teaching is what I want to do in life and your videos make me so excited to teach!!
i like when you get the kids together and talk about any problems that are going on. its a good way for them to be open and know they are in a safe space.
I want to thank you for not only putting up this video but all your other videos. Currently I'm a senior in High School and will be entering into a Bachelor of Arts in September. In the past few months or so I've been thinking about the future and suddenly my being an Elementary School teacher really just clicked into place and I suddenly realized what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Seeing these types of videos is just solidifying this plan and helps me see just what I could be doing after University, which is extremely helpful.
Imogen Lee same with me! I'm currently in my first year of college for pre-nursing, but I feel like it isn't for me. Being an elementary teacher is what I feel in my heart is what I want to do! 😊
Hey girl! I'm actually in nursing school right now, getting my bachelor's degree, and I'm a junior. It took me this long to realize that nursing really isn't for me, and so in the fall I'll be pursuing a degree in elementary education. My advice is to pursue what feels right to you. I actually decided to take the leap after reading an article written by a nurse that was documenting advice from patients that were on there death bed, and one of them said that you don't want to be 92 and wondering 'what if'. That was it for me, I knew I was making the right choice. I want to be a teacher until the day they tell me I'm too old to keep up! Good luck to you!
I'm in the 7th grade about to go in the 8th grade and I literally started laughing when you talked about the diet coke because every single teacher I have had always drinks diet coke lol
Wow Kindergarten has really changed a lot in 20 years. This looks more like a 1st or 2nd grade classroom to me. When I was in Kindergarten we had play corners (dolls, blocks, dress-up, etc) and it just seems like so much more is expected of 5 year olds academically nowadays.
Vivian Jones You're gonna love it once you start doing field observations and student teaching I'm in my junior year right now and just started field observations :)
Another great video! I would love to see a video discussing teaching routines at the beginning of the year. You can really tell that your children know what to expect.
I'm 27 and have been teaching English abroad for 3 years. I graduated with my BA in 2016 (unrelated to teaching) and now I've been considered becoming a kindy teacher for the past 2 years. Thanks for this vid.
+raquelrocksful I was hoping this would be beneficial to watch. I remember being a student teacher and you are never fully prepared for the teaching life. Glad you liked it!
I'm a trainee teacher from the UK, your videos are so valuable to me, I'm collating them along with other ideas I have magpied from all my placement schools over the years, in a big folder that I can go to when I finally get my own class next year!! Thank you so much for these videos they're invaluable!! But you start so so early in your school, I take my hat off to you!
I am so glad that I found your channel. I have been teaching adult learners, but I am really passionate about teaching children. This channel has been affirmation of how much I would enjoy teaching elementary. Thanks for inspiring me to pursue my dreams.
I am writing far from where you teach and I literally love your teaching style, students and class order. I've been teaching teenagers for 10 years and now I admire your class.
I absolutely loved this video! It was so interesting to see how you lay out your day and it seems like it really works for you! I love how much small group time you plan in your day. I would love to see a video of how you differentiate in your classroom as well as your classroom management philosophy!
+Julia Salvador Julia! You are always commenting and I totally love and appreciate you! Yes, small groups play a huge role in my room and I feel like my kids behave better when I am meeting with small groups. I have written that down and will get it in. Thank you.
Thanks for the video. I have taught secondary for over a decade, but I've recently accepted a 5th grade elementary school position. This video (and my experience) has made me have a new level of appreciation for K teachers.
It's amazing seeing how many resources and extra space some schools have. You could fit 3 of our classrooms into her classroom with 30 kids (pre covid) in them. This classroom is wonderful
I loved seeing how enriching your program was for your students! I work as a teacher in Canada, and they have recently introduced a play-based approach to learning in kindergarten. Some teachers unfortunately take this as having students just play all day with very little direction or vague centers. This leads to a lot of behavior issues and low reading and writing skills going into grade 1. Watching your video made me nostalgic for the time when kindergarten was about learning and not glorified day care! Please keep up your amazing work :)
I have had my dream of caring for children at my own daycare since I was little, and in a couple days, I will be starting training for the profession. I really love you and your channel :) You are a great teacher and an inspiration to me
I am a Senior in college and I am an Elementary Education major. I start student teaching next month in January! I am very much looking forward to it, but I am nervous as well. I really enjoyed this video!
I love this! I think it's awesome that you're kids work a lot in small groups and are so independent during those times. I'm also amazed at how you squeeze in so many things throughout the day, especially assessments. You are a super teacher! You're like my virtual mentor. Thank you for always posting quality content and videos!
+Wileen Hiinani You are so very sweet. I love sharing everything that I have learned and am learning right now! I feel like it makes me a better teacher to connect with you all and be able to collaborate.
Teaching is HARD WORK. I have taught many different age ranges but I have to say, kindergarten ('nursery' here in the UK) is a wonderful age to teach (but very challenging). Good luck to all new teachers.
I am deeply amazed by how you could continue assessing your pupils despite of the busy day. I'd like to know more of your teaching strategies, techniques, behavior modification methods, and classroom management. I look forward to your new videos. Thank you and have a nice day!
I'm a teacher in the UK (Upper/secondary school so 11-18 year olds) and you definitely have it a lot more difficult than us, certainly as a secondary teacher! We aren't expected to buy our own resources, clean our own rooms (although if it is VERY messy then we usually will because we don't want to leave it all for the cleaners), and our school day is from 8.50 to 3.30 so not as long as you either. This was a very insightful video, great work!
I am a week away from finishing my teacher education program and this video gets me super excited to work! :) I love how organized you are with everything
Hi there! I'm about to be a junior in high school, but I'm thinking about majoring in elementary education in college. I've gotten a lot of negative feedback about being a teacher, especially from teachers themselves, and it's very discouraging. Do you have any feedback or tips?
Don't let anyone discourage you. Teaching is a calling, and if you have that calling you should absolutely become a teacher. The career choice will have its challenges, many of which you will have no control over (politicians deciding what's best for kids when they have never stepped foot in a classroom, curriculums, pacing guides, etc.), but the rewards HIGHLY outweigh those challenges. Teaching is an amazing profession. The feeling you get when a student "gets it" for the first time, or you see that light bulb go off can't be beat. If it's your dream...go for it, or at least explore it. Good luck! I have taught 2nd grade for 3 years. It is the BEST.
Hey girl! I definitely understand where you're coming from. I've wanted to be a kindergarten teacher since my sophomore year in high school. I would always get told that I should set my goals higher and that it doesn't pay well. The comment that really upset me was when people would say "you really want to take care of screaming kids all day?" It made me so mad. But seriously girlie, don't let it discourage you. I'm now an elementary education major at Chapman University and I am so excited to finally be following my dreams. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't accomplish your goals. I believe in you. ❤️ Much love!
Caitlin Rose yes! I just graduated in May & got my very first classroom in August! It's a lot of work but has always been a dream of mine & that outweighs all the "negativity" from ppl in a heartbeat. I love teaching
erikagirl552 That is so comforting to hear. Congrats on all you've accomplished and are continuing to accomplish! I can't wait to get to that point, but for now I'm enjoying every second of the time I get to spend here studying what I love to do. I wish you all the best!
I am a senior in high school and I'm debating or not to be an elementary school teacher and this really helped me think about it more because you have such a great system going on and I love working with kids and I can also see you do as well. Keep up the good work!
I love your videos! Very insightful on what to expect! Im actually in college right now and work with pre-schoolers! My goal is to be a kindergarten teacher as well! It's scary to think about it though....having the classroom and having to teach the children myself, did you ever feel this way when you started as a teacher?
I've been following your videos for about a year now I love them! I just found out I'm moving from 2nd grade to Kinder next year and I couldn't be more excited! Thank you for making all of these videos! You're such an inspiration to me!!!
I am so obsessed with your videos! I am in my first year of my degree in Australia and your channel is what gives me the motivation to get going on my assignments and what gets me excited about working my way through university! Thank you so much! xx
+The Lettered Classroom I can't wait! Once I'm further through my degree I'd love to develop my channel into one like yours! Right now, I'm making videos but it's hard to talk about something you're passionate about when you haven't been in the field :P
What time do you work to? How many hours do you sleep a day? I'm a teacher myself and I once asked you on twitter a question using the hashtag but didn't get your answer to my question haha. I still have loads of questions to ask you because I love your videos and I love and enjoy watching them. They have inspired me and motivated me and made me think that teaching is one of the fantastic and rewarding jobs.
This is a wonderful video. I'm in high school 10th grade and wanting to be a 2nd grade teacher. Even though the grade is different it's nice to see what goes on in a classroom and how to be a good teacher. Thank you for the video
I'm in AL, too!!! I will be a senior in college in the fall. I also want to teach kindergarten. I've been having thoughts like, "What if I am a bad teacher? What if..." I always love to watch these videos to gain my confidence back up!
Thank you so much for saying this, I work in a Montessori and people mostly take it as "just minding kids", but we are doing so much work with kids and we deserve respect.
So right now I am in 7th grade. I love this video so much. It has made really and I mean REALLY want to be a teacher! So thank you for that. Have an amazing 😉 day.
I watched this video because I wasn't sure of going into elementary education as a major. (I am a new college student, and I'm in FL.) This got me very excited for the future! Thank you for this video, very enlightening on the everyday process!
Yay!! Hopefully you find the rest of my channel hopeful as well :) I continue to post a few videos each week. Some are topic focused and some are 'Day in the Life' style. I hope you enjoy!
I wanted to be an elementary school teacher, I'll be going to college next year and I'm currently helping at my elementary school and watching these videos helps me so much
Just a reminder OCD is a serious mental disorder, not an adjective. Honest mistake, and honestly an easy one to make in our culture. Love this channel!
I like the message on your wall about reading. It reminds me of what Dr. Ben Carson said of reading in his biography when he was a kid. Thank you for your videos!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I loved this video and it was SOOOO helpful! Especially because you explained everything in detail that helps you get through the day and plan for the next day. Wow! I'm going to follow some of your tips myself!
7:55 Doesn’t that look like the room of the vine when the teacher trips over the whiteboard and lands face first on the floor, or is it just me again?!🤨🤔
@The Lettered Classroom I can't go to college because it's harder than high school. I already found a job that I want to have in the future. But I realized that I can just volunteer to help out with the lunch ladies at Centennial Elementary School in the future.
Fantastic video it's so interesting to see the similarities & differences between how you approach teaching young children in America to how we do in the UK. I can see you are very caring and thoughful about each child, Very inspiring!
Where is your tan bag from in this video? With the brown leather straps? Amazing video :) I watched this a few months ago but i was just watching again lol
+Theresa Winslow My school sets up the dismissal. I simply made the pages and hot glued them to the wall to keep me more organized. We have four bells to help spread out the students leaving the room and it won't be so crowded in the hallways. I like the idea but it does take 10 minutes before all my students are gone for the day.
I'm currently a Kindergarten Teacher, and I can remember watching this video way before I began my education classes to become a teacher. Your video was an inspiration to my classroom. I do have a question, and I know that you don't teacher kinder any more, but I noticed that your kids at the time were doing a counting jar in the morning and I was wondering did you guys do this everyday in the school year or did you change it up? I've tried morning bins and I've tried a worksheet and I've found that neither of these work for me. I'm trying to get some ideas while we are on Holiday break. Thanks for everything!
This is a very good video. You don't seem to have that many students. Which makes it easier on teachers. Where I'm from most classes could have up to forty kids which makes teaching very stressful. I'm assuming only a few were just included to help with your video. It takes a special person to be a teacher but mainly you need to be super organized which you seem to be. Thanks for sharing.
I love this video!! I've always wanted to be a teacher, but I'm currently in high school for law. lately I've been noticing that law isn't for me, and this video really gave me a feel of how teachers work. i will probably be going to college for teaching now, it just seems to be a better fit for me personally :)
I see how your class has like 10-15 children. I wish I had something like that. Classes here have a minimum of 20 and most likely you have 25 to 30 or even more. Looks like you're doing a great job by the way!
The Lettered Classroom oh my bad! I only saw 10/15 children at a time. My bad to jumping to conclusions too quickly. I'm going to older children, but I have hugh respect for teachers like you. The creativity you need is incredible. Great to upload a video like this.
This was the best "Day in the life of a teacher" video that I've seen! I'm 21 and just recently decided that teaching is what I want to do in life and your videos make me so excited to teach!!
+Vi Conley That is great. I wish you all the best!
+The Lettered Classroom you sound like a very nice teacher

I love you I'm in middle school but you help me from playing school😘😘😘😘

Niya Simmer Same
Niya Simmer ikr my teacher is OBSESSED with Diet Coke he has this huge thing and he drinks like all of it in one day
Am I going to be the only teacher who will be obsessed with dr pepper
Niya Simmer I had one teacher that loved Diet Coke/Coke and another that liked Pepsi and one that loved Dr Pepper.
Gene C. is that an American thing or something? all my teachers drank water😂

ConcreteAngelx3 same my classroom had a play kitchen
I'm a preschool teacher and I can attest to this. Preschool is now more like kindergarten and kindergarten jumps right into core subjects.
I like it
I have been in a public kindergarten class as a preservice teacher and the students do not have the fun this video shows
This is a public classroom. 🤗 We learned a lot and had a lot of fun 🥰
I will be a preschool teacher assistant this year and I have to say it's just a blessing bring around children 💓
+Sandra Hernandez -Yes! It can be a very rewarding career. I LOVE it! I hope you continue to follow your passion.
Sandra Hernandez I teach preschool and it is so much fun!
Dont forget the key step...

Vivian Jones You're gonna love it once you start doing field observations and student teaching I'm in my junior year right now and just started field observations :)
Another great video! I would love to see a video discussing teaching routines at the beginning of the year. You can really tell that your children know what to expect.
I have it on my Summer List!

I'm 27 and have been teaching English abroad for 3 years. I graduated with my BA in 2016 (unrelated to teaching) and now I've been considered becoming a kindy teacher for the past 2 years. Thanks for this vid.
Thank you for making this! I loved getting to see a day in the life of a teacher. I'm currently student teaching right now!
You are so sweet. Thank you!

Thanks for the video. I have taught secondary for over a decade, but I've recently accepted a 5th grade elementary school position. This video (and my experience) has made me have a new level of appreciation for K teachers.
I love your way of teaching. You are very caring!
Thank you so much!

It's amazing seeing how many resources and extra space some schools have. You could fit 3 of our classrooms into her classroom with 30 kids (pre covid) in them. This classroom is wonderful

As a 2nd grade teacher it is really insightful to see what kids are capable of in kindergarten. I thoroughly enjoyed this video and learned a lot!
I am a Senior in college and I am an Elementary Education major. I start student teaching next month in January! I am very much looking forward to it, but I am nervous as well. I really enjoyed this video!

and i thought teaching Kindergarten would be a walk in the park ! It must be so exhausting
:) Teaching is not 'easy' , but if you have the passion it is extremely rewarding! :) I can't see myself doing anything else anymore!
This woman is making teaching into a science.
If i had a child , i'd choose you to be his/her teacher .. you are great & organized . How many hours per day do you work / teach ?
MOZN same
I am a week away from finishing my teacher education program and this video gets me super excited to work! :) I love how organized you are with everything

right? It was so simple then :(
You seem like the best teacher ever. Seriously, if I decide to pursue teaching, that is what I want to be like.
Wow! Thank you so much!

That is totally normal! I am in my first year of teaching kindergarten right now, and I still get nervous sometimes!
I've been following your videos for about a year now I love them! I just found out I'm moving from 2nd grade to Kinder next year and I couldn't be more excited! Thank you for making all of these videos! You're such an inspiration to me!!!

announcments at 7:50?what time do they have these kids up???
And how long is the school day!?
DrumStick IKR I'm in high school and our announcements don't start until 7:30.
COLLIN R 7:15 was when our late bell and announcements began.
In the school I teach at in the UK, the children don't get in to school until 8:55am!
i'm in high school and my school day doesn't start till 7:50 😂
Excellent so much great Information on organizing, lesson ideas, etc. You're classroom looks so colorful and you have so much heart.
How do you prepare all these materials?? This is so amazing!
I'm in AL, too!!! I will be a senior in college in the fall. I also want to teach kindergarten. I've been having thoughts like, "What if I am a bad teacher? What if..." I always love to watch these videos to gain my confidence back up!
I wish my sons teacher was this hands on!

+Melvin s joseph - 👏👏 Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for saying this, I work in a Montessori and people mostly take it as "just minding kids", but we are doing so much work with kids and we deserve respect.
The way you teach the children is great. The organization of your class is awesome. I love it
Thank you so much, Jasmine! It really helps make everything move along smoothly!
Great video, I teach high school and your students would scare me. Love your organization. Thumbs up and a share

OMG it seems like a long day! Great video btw! I really enjoyed it!
I wanted to be an elementary school teacher, I'll be going to college next year and I'm currently helping at my elementary school and watching these videos helps me so much
As a teacher from the UK I find your videos so fascinating! I love seeing how different it is across the pond! Keep up the great work!
This video alone, is enough for teachers to be more respected, better treated and paid!!
I love that your teaching and assessment go hand in hand
Yes! Very important! Thank you for watching!
Just a reminder OCD is a serious mental disorder, not an adjective.
Honest mistake, and honestly an easy one to make in our culture. Love this channel!
I am in college i wanna work as an Teacher i live in Connectict and my school i work at is awesome the teachers are fanstastic
As an education major hoping to teach kindergarten this was very well insightful. Thanks for sharing.
:) I'm glad you found this helpful! Thank you for watching my videos!
I have always wanted to be a elementary school teacher!💗especially either preschool kinder or first grade✨
I like the message on your wall about reading. It reminds me of what Dr. Ben Carson said of reading in his biography when he was a kid. Thank you for your videos!
You are so professional! I'm thinking of going back to get a teaching degree to teach young learners.
Yay! I hope you enjoy my other videos as well! Thanks for the kind words.

This was so different to watch! I loved this. Love how organized you are and how bright your room is!
I just found your channel and I love it! It is so inspiring! I look forward to see more videos :)
Love from Sweden :)
I teach third grade and I love this video!!! Very nice pacing. Nice independent skills for kinders!
You should smile more 😃
You seem very serious.
Your classroom looks awesome. I taught k for 30 years.
Concert mom 180 Betsy Persiano she’s teaching future nobel prize winners and you’re worried about her smiling 🤔
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I loved this video and it was SOOOO helpful! Especially because you explained everything in detail that helps you get through the day and plan for the next day. Wow! I'm going to follow some of your tips myself!
+Rabbit Child YAY! I am so glad that you enjoyed the video.
7:55 Doesn’t that look like the room of the vine when the teacher trips over the whiteboard and lands face first on the floor, or is it just me again?!🤨🤔
Parneet Kaur it does
@The Lettered Classroom I can't go to college because it's harder than high school. I already found a job that I want to have in the future. But I realized that I can just volunteer to help out with the lunch ladies at Centennial Elementary School in the future.
College is not that hard...you just have to stay on top of your homework.
what is the 31 folder system?
Fantastic video it's so interesting to see the similarities & differences between how you approach teaching young children in America to how we do in the UK. I can see you are very caring and thoughful about each child, Very inspiring!
Loved this! Thank you for sharing
I just found your channel and love it!!! I just recently decided to become a kindergarten teacher and your videos are so helpful!!
+Katy Harris YAY! So happy for you!
Where is your tan bag from in this video? With the brown leather straps? Amazing video :) I watched this a few months ago but i was just watching again lol
that's a longchamp bag
Thank you so much for posting this video (as well as other videos). You have no idea how helpful they are!
When i was in kindergarten all we did was play, eat, nap, and sing ABCs XD
Where do you get your worksheets and supplies?
At 12:07 this little kid walks up and starts touching stuff and shes like "go sit down" 😭😭😭
I don’t like your classroom design choice personally but I think you did a great job with helping express the children’s personality!
So do you ask parents to allow kids to be filmed? Thanks for the videos I love it!
Great video! Can you tell me a little more on the dismissal process. You talked about different bells. I'm very interested.
Hey just out of curiosity, are you allowed to film your kids and put them on UA-cam?
A lot of schools have the parents sign social medics release forms that allow photos or videos
You are amazing!
I wish I could hit the thumbs up button more than once👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
+lisa Loucee you are so sweet!!! I honestly didn't think this video would come that great. I am so happy you enjoyed it.
Where did you get that wood organizer that stored their folders.
I love this video!! I've always wanted to be a teacher, but I'm currently in high school for law. lately I've been noticing that law isn't for me, and this video really gave me a feel of how teachers work. i will probably be going to college for teaching now, it just seems to be a better fit for me personally :)
Great video !! Do you have a video on the counting jar ?
I see how your class has like 10-15 children. I wish I had something like that. Classes here have a minimum of 20 and most likely you have 25 to 30 or even more. Looks like you're doing a great job by the way!
+MrSarcism - I had 24 student that year 😉
The Lettered Classroom oh my bad! I only saw 10/15 children at a time. My bad to jumping to conclusions too quickly. I'm going to older children, but I have hugh respect for teachers like you. The creativity you need is incredible. Great to upload a video like this.
fantastic teacher, such a well-prepared teacher
My class does Go Noddle and we're in 3rd Grade so everyone is standing and looking at people who are dancing and giggling
