i have no idea how i stumbled on this video but its amazing to see how much you care. I remember how much i loved elementary school, i even remember my kindergarten teacher and I'm about to be a sophomore in college. i just remember how much i loved learning and they all told me to strive for the best and ended up with A's and B's all elementary. as i got older it seemed like my teachers started to care less so i started to hate learning i wish all teachers were as dedicated as you or otherwise i wouldn't be rushing out of college; teachers like you help kids so much with learning !!
Thank you so much!!! :) That really means the world to me. I really believe that when you love what you do, the rest comes easy! I have to agree, though. One of the reasons I went into teaching is for the very reason you just said - not as many teachers seemed to care, so I wanted to change that! How much longer do you have left of college? What are you studying? :)
Itzz alexaaa ikr! I thought 2 of my teachers were "cool" for teachers until I saw this lol. One of them is like 27, has a successful Etsy shop, and dresses like a common white girl haha.
I am so glad you find them helpful! I actually have a series of classroom management videos. Here is the first one: ua-cam.com/video/XhJni_yuEug/v-deo.html
Hi Marie. There may be a couple of useful videos on my channel on classroom management if you haven't found them already. Click on my logo and you should find a few things helpful on this. Good luck!
I'm so jealous of how organized you are. I'm nearing the end of my first year of teaching, and I feel like my room and everything else is constantly a hot mess. I'm changing schools next year, and I'm going to try to make organization a higher priority.
You are too cute! You definitely look like a teacher :) Your videos make it seem like you're super dedicated, and it seems like there is a mutual love between you and your students. You are definitely impacting lives, they'll probably remember you forever (I know I remember my favorite teachers!)
I admire an organized and positive teacher; and that's my impression of you. Your classroom management skills and approach would suggest that you have been teaching for much longer than you actually have. I loved the cultural integration that you facilitated and shared in this video. Kudos to you for your impressive work this past school year!
Teachers dont get paid enough for what they do, they set you up for success and a brighter future and no one seems to understand that! Love the channel! Keep it up
Katherine L Stay organized! I think that is the biggest thing because it is what has kept me sane, especially at this point in the year. Also, establishing good classroom management is key if you want to have a year that runs smoothly. I have some more tips coming for new teachers this summer! 😊
I cannot tell you how motivational and helpful these videos are for a future teacher like myself!! I'm a junior in college majoring in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education! I'm taking my methods this coming fall semester and I'm so excited! I love the atmosphere you have created in your classroom and as a Latina I really appreciate you including diversity and respect in your curriculum. Much love and good luck with the end of the year!!!
I wish teachers got paid more money because they deserve it, doctors get paid more than them, but without teachers they wouldn't have their degrees so they won't have their doctor job. I appreciate teachers so much, I am in 5th grade and I am leaving elementary school soon and at the start of this school year I was really behind but thanks to my teacher I am working at the 5th grade standard so thanks for being awesome! 😍
Don't forget, teachers get a guaranteed pension for life, while the rest of us have to fund our own retirement, and it's not secure by any means or guaranteed.
This brought tears to my eyes that your school has lessons with the local native Americans. That is something A LOT if not most schools don’t do or probably even think about. Your kids probably get so much out of that and will hold those values and lessons with them for a lifetime!
I'm in the M.A.T program and I just got super excited all over again about furthering my teaching career! Just from watching your uploads. I also take advantage of the "me" time during lunch. It's like a supercharge for the remainder of the day. God bless you and your career!
Recently new to your channel and omg!!! I think I binged all your videos! I am a 2nd year education major and I am also Native American, apart of the Mashantucket Pequot tribe and seeing kids respect other cultures and embracing our pow wow dance and music was so amazing to see! You make me can't wait to start teaching in a couple years!!! Love you're channel! You're so positive! Keep it up! :)
**sigh** god I miss elementary school. recess, all your classes were taught by one teacher except for maybe one that was taught by a different like p.e, making it so you had more consistent friends, work was easier and you got less of it, there was less drama and stress, the teachers were nicer and the classrooms were better looking, the desks weren't attached to the chairs, we barely ever moved our seats, there was more interesting interactive projects.... ughh I wish so much that I was back in elementary school, middle school sucks ass!!!! Like if you agree
I wish my elementary school incorporated different cultures the way that yours does! It develops respect and appreciation for others at a young age, something most of my generation lacks. Loved this video 💕
I don't remember my third grade teacher being so happy. I can tell you love your job!!! Thank you for helping to make a difference in the lives of children!!!
I love this so much you seem like an amazing teacher! I bet the students love you! Keep up with all these videos it makes me motivated to follow your footsteps of becoming a teacher 🌸🌼
So glad I found your channel! I am beginning my credential program this summer. I'd love to teach 3rd or 4th grade. Can't wait to watch more of your videos! 😀💕
this may be a dumb question, but one I've always wondered about - when do teachers typically plan their lessons? Do they do it during their "free" time (as in, not during designated school hours?) Or is the summer designed for lesson planning for the entire year? Or do teachers do it on professional days only? How long does it take to plan a lesson? Are teachers paid for this planning time? I realize this is actually a bunch of related questions lol.
Not a dumb question. I suppose this varies by teacher/grade level. Teachers in my area get a planning period, and so I use that time to plan. However, at times, I also have to prepare outside of my contracted hours - after school, on weekends, or during school breaks (winter, summer, etc.). I am not paid to plan unless I can get approval from admin or I have been selected as a part of a curriculum writing cohort. The amount of time it takes to plan a lesson will depend on the topic I'm teaching. As a high school science teacher, I also have to set up and take down labs - so that adds an extra layer.
I just found you while watching a video my professor suggested. I absolutely love your vlogs. I am a late in lifer, returning to school working on my degree to teach and then my masters for special education. I want to work with children with behavior disorders and how they can be mainstreamed into regular education classrooms. I was sick yesterday and watched every vlog you have posted from the beginning until current. Thank you and please, please, please keep posting tips and suggestions for organization, arrangement, activities and how to manage your classroom. You are currently my mentor. You are great!
Thank you, Christy!!! I am so excited for you and your journey! :) I definitely have had some experience with students who have behavior disorders this year. It has been my toughest year yet, but oh, so worth it. Thanks so much for watching and I wish you the best!
Oh thank you for the tips! I'm a teacher too....actually in the making... I'm still at university, but that was really helpful! I had 3rd grade too at my last semester of practicing 😀 I'm in a really different country though... our classes are smaller and less beautiful 😛
I love this video! It is amazing to see how much you truly care about your students and you make learning fun!I am currently in eighth grade and I can just say that I loved my elementary school teachers more and felt they cared more! Keep up the amazing work!!
Loved watching this! Although I'm not a teacher now, nor do I plan to become one, I agree with you on grading papers. I wold rather be at home when I do it.
Just found your channel today and i'm so glad I did! I'm currently a junior in high school and plan on becoming a 1st grade teacher. SO excited! But anyways do you have any advice for me for college or when I start teaching? Would love to get any advice. Thank you so much!
I am so excited for you!!! :) I would say to definitely keep an open mind! If you are leaning towards 1st grade, definitely make sure you observe a classroom in each grade level PreK - 5th. It will open your eyes to different things and you may decide another grade may be for you instead. Reach for the stars and don't limit yourself! Also, one thing that a lot of new, young teachers struggle with is confidence. I definitely did. Just remember that once you have had the courses/training, you ARE qualified! Believe in yourself. :)
Love it! I finally decided to become a elementary teacher. I am enrolled for elementary education. I use to own a childcare with a preschool program. I loved it! So now, I am nervous but you make me feel like, I can accomplish it!
I find it so interesting to see your day as a teacher! I am a teacher as well, only in the Netherlands. I teach children the same age as a 3rd grade (our school system is different, so 3rd grade equals group (year) 5 in the Netherlands). I think it is so fun to see how different our days, lessons and classrooms are! Eventhough we teach the same age group. I love to see those things!
I had to watch you for a class assignment in college for my education degree and I LOVED IT!! I want to be like this as a teacher you did an AMAZING job!!!!
I’ll be starting school this spring for my BS in elementary education. You just made me SUPER excited! I’ll be over 50 when I’m done (second career). Excited and scared! Have you done a video on what to expect our first year or things you wish you knew before becoming a teacher?
I love your channel! I'm going into my junior year of high school and it is so nice to see a teachers perspective in a classroom. I'm thinking about going into to teaching elementary because I love children and the impact that you can have on their lives is amazing. I still remember teachers that have taught me the simplest things by making them fun and exciting. I want to give back and give others the kindness and patience that others have shown me! Though I still have a couple questions about going into education, if you could answer them that would be amazing!
i'm in school right now to be an elementary teacher. your videos remind me why i am doing what i am doing everyday. if i ever lose my motivation i watch one of your videos💙
I came across your channel because my aunt is actually a 2nd grade teacher and I recently job shadowed her! I am a freshman, in two days, a sophomore in high school and I'm looking forward to becoming a 3rd grade teacher. Love love love your videos! ❤
Wow who would've known that a teacher would have a UA-cam channel! Pretty cool. This video got me very excited for the start of the school year. I'm definitely subscribing.
I am SO happy that I found your channel!! I'm going into my junior year of college to become an elementary school teacher. Your videos are so helpful and your organization and energy is so inspiring. Your channel makes me so excited to have my own classroom. I can't wait!! 💕
I DREAM to be a teacher. I am constantly watching videos like these to see how it is. I am always helping kids in elementary school. I might only be in the 6th grade and i started helping in 3rd. It's my number one dream and I'm constantly making lesson plans in case I have someone to teach and I have a bunch of supplies. And it's people like you that inspire people like me.
School is so different here in the UK it's crazy! I'm currently at uni for English and will train to be a teacher after I've gotten my degree, and I love these videos :) x
A Classroom Diva Thank you so much! I work in a class of 5-6 year olds, and apart from reception (4-5), the rest of the primary school is fairly similar! School starts at 8:40, and there's usually time in the mornings to do a starter activity to get the kids' brains all warmed up. Then assembly is at 9, and can last anywhere from 15-30 minutes! After that, it's either English or Maths. Then there's a 15 minute break, where the kids go out and play. Then back in school for the kids to learn phonics, and they dive right back into either English or Maths (whatever they didn't do earlier). The curriculum and resources used are definitely a lot different, in Maths especially! After that it's lunch for an hour, then they come back into class and do two more lessons (History, Science, Geography, Art, PSHE, etc) until 3. In the younger years, there's a fifteen minute cool-down time, where a story is read or kids can do show and tell, or letters and notices can be handed out to everyone. Then it's hometime!
Omg this gave me so much inspiration because I'm going into my senior internship and I was contemplating if the school district I'll work in will allow me to continue to make videos or not if I were to get hired. AHHH this is a relief!! 😍
Ever since I was little I would teach my cousins and nephews and now I can’t wait to be a teacher, my teachers and videos like these inspire me to keep on going and follow my dreams by the way I’m a freshman 😊💗!
Heya ! I'm from the uk and your schools over in the US are a lot different !! I want to teach over in the us when I'm older ! How many kids do you typically teach? ❤
is that real life. holy shit teachers need better pay u have to care so much and b such a good hyper person to do that stuff all week plus off the clock work i commend you
My step-mom teaches 2nd grade and, I'm in 6th grade, so I grade papers for her sometimes! It always helps her stay organized! I also go during the summer and help her organize her classroom!
this is amazing! you seem like a very organized and nice teacher!! enjoy the rest of the year!! YOUR STUDENTS ARE SO LUCKY!!! can you do a video for more details on the planner?
My older friend says that being a teacher will be a good thing in the future. I mean is a good thing; yet the teaching profession will be so honored. Obviously cuz teachers make schools exists. It is a lovely thought being a teacher and having your own classroom.
Loved your video. I currently work at a Learning Center where I tutor and teach Spanish and Reading to young kids, but I'm hoping to get my teaching credentials soon. Loved getting the inside scoop of what it's like inside a classroom. :)
I'm going into my junior year of elementary education and I am so excited to become a teacher. It sounds so overwhelming at first but I can't wait. Can you make a video on how it was finding a job, how long it took, etc??
My Boyfriend is native and we love how you guys were playing a Tribe Called Red! The reservation he grew up on and a lot of other places are terrible, lots of drugs, alcohol and social interactions between huge age gaps. It's good they're learning to appreciate their culture and others, while still having a good environment to be around outside of their home.
As an intern for an elementry school I can agree. The kids are very nice and so are the teachers. On the first day of me being an intern the teacher had me bring very important stuff and I show the kids. Then after that I will be given an answer key and then graded papers for the teachers because they had very important stuff that they were needed to do. Then on the second I read a book to the kids and then the kids did a presentation on the very important presidents and what they did. Then on the third day we had a test for the kids that they needed to do about math and I had to help a kid with autism so that was fun.
Hey! I'm hoping to be a 1st year teacher in 2018-2019. I have a lot of questions! How early do they allow you in your classroom before the new school year? How early in the summer break do you start planning lessons? When do principals hire teachers? May, June, July??
Wow, great video! I always appreciated what teachers do, but this video just showed me even more about the time, preparation, and work you guys do for the world. Thank you for teaching our youth and hope to continue seeing your wonderful videos :)
Just found your channel!! Binge watching ❤❤ I'll be a first year teacher come August!! I went out today and bought the recollections teacher planner!! This channel makes me super happy, already ❤ I can tell you're a wonderful teacher!!
Omg I love you so much. I remembered reading Sarah plain and tall and wanted to tell my brother about the book but couldn't remember the title until I watched you. Thank you so much for recording that part!!
I have been a teacher for 21 years, and it’s been a Journey! I started teaching 5th grade when I was 29, and in my 9th year of teaching I switched to 2nd. I’m thinking Of switching again but it’s so fun to teach younger kids! I have 3 kids, one is in 12th grade. She’s growing up! I love your classroom!
My jaw actually dropped when I saw the Christmas lights around the bulletin board, haha it's the little things. So cute and I would have never thought of it! I'll definitely be doing that!

I agree but doctors also work really hard for longer harder hours and you wouldn't even be alive without doctors

I’ll be starting school this spring for my BS in elementary education. You just made me SUPER excited! I’ll be over 50 when I’m done (second career). Excited and scared! Have you done a video on what to expect our first year or things you wish you knew before becoming a teacher?
Wait till her students find out she has a UA-cam channel
Sophia Beck this reminds me of the time when we had a substitute teacher and we found his UA-cam channel... He made an Adele parody XD
__. ary .__ ohhhhh what is the name of the channel
__. ary .__ wtf did you roast em
My fifth grade teacher had a UA-cam channel but he didn't share it with us until the end of the school year lmao. That was five years ago tho
Sophia Beck thats what I was thinking
I love your channel! I'm going into my junior year of high school and it is so nice to see a teachers perspective in a classroom. I'm thinking about going into to teaching elementary because I love children and the impact that you can have on their lives is amazing. I still remember teachers that have taught me the simplest things by making them fun and exciting. I want to give back and give others the kindness and patience that others have shown me! Though I still have a couple questions about going into education, if you could answer them that would be amazing!
i want to be a teacher when I. grow up im 10 thats why i watch your chanel
So exciting! Thanks for watching!

This is the first video I've seen from you! It's so great to see how a teacher thinks and what they do when children are not in the classroom!
Would definitely like a planning/planner video!
Will do!
Aw i wish my 3rd grade teachers were this great :( you are the definition of an actual teacher! Wonderful, kind, and caring!
My husband and I are currently in school to both be teachers
I came across your channel because my aunt is actually a 2nd grade teacher and I recently job shadowed her! I am a freshman, in two days, a sophomore in high school and I'm looking forward to becoming a 3rd grade teacher. Love love love your videos! ❤
My school uses class dojo and I go to school in the uk 🇬🇧 if u drive to school at 6:30 then what time do u get up in the morning
I'm a big morning person (I get it from my mom!), so I usually get up between 4:30-5:00. I enjoy getting up when the sun is coming up! :)
Lara Marshall same
A Classroom Diva ew :/ haha! I'm an education major in college right now and i struggle to even get up by 10am. Lol!!!!
Class Dojo is so fun! I’m in Year 9 (also uk lol) and my chemistry teacher introduced it to us and it’s so fun

I am SO happy that I found your channel!! I'm going into my junior year of college to become an elementary school teacher. Your videos are so helpful and your organization and energy is so inspiring. Your channel makes me so excited to have my own classroom. I can't wait!! 💕
I wish my third grade class was like this 😂
I DREAM to be a teacher.
I would love to see how education over there is different! I'm always looking for new ideas! :) So excited for you and your journey!
And we all wear uniforms, of course! That's a crazy difference to me. x
Omg this gave me so much inspiration because I'm going into my senior internship and I was contemplating if the school district I'll work in will allow me to continue to make videos or not if I were to get hired. AHHH this is a relief!! 😍
What state do you teach in
maybe south or north dakota
Ever since I was little I would teach my cousins and nephews and now I can’t wait to be a teacher, my teachers and videos like these inspire me to keep on going and follow my dreams by the way I’m a freshman 😊💗!
Heya ! I'm from the uk and your schools over in the US are a lot different !! I want to teach over in the us when I'm older ! How many kids do you typically teach? ❤
libsnchlo
I'm still a student but in my elementary school there were 28-30 kids in each. The typical number was 29. Hope I helped 😊

I know it takes time and money, but changing careers is possible.
I loved the ending
So off topic but your teeth are so white!!
I’m currently studying to be a teacher and this video was perfect for me! Her voice is perfect for a teacher
Please give more details about the planner and how you set it up. Thank you for sharing! Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
Will do! :)
I've been in high school for what feels like forever now that I needed this little refresher of what elementary school was like lol!
Hey! I'm hoping to be a 1st year teacher in 2018-2019. I have a lot of questions! How early do they allow you in your classroom before the new school year? How early in the summer break do you start planning lessons? When do principals hire teachers? May, June, July??
Cute, cute classroom!!
This channel makes me super happy, already ❤
I can tell you're a wonderful teacher!!
You seem like a great teacher! 3rd grade is one of my favorite grades, I student taught in it and LOVED it!!
My jaw actually dropped when I saw the Christmas lights around the bulletin board, haha it's the little things. So cute and I would have never thought of it! I'll definitely be doing that!
