    So sad that you are not in kinder anymore! I'm switching from 4th to kinder and your videos have been so helpful! I love how organized you are! im thinking of buying your planner but I'm not sure yet if my principal prefers hand written or typed lesson plans! Super cute though!!! Do you have an aide? I will be teaching full day from 7:50-1:50 and will only have an aide for one hour! Super nervous about that since its my first year in kinder!

    • @BridgingLiteracy
      @BridgingLiteracy  8 років тому

      No worries! Stay organized and you will do great! I have never had an aide and I'm still here :) As I discussed in the video I use both Planbook.com and my Planner daily, both serve a different purpose. I would definitely look into Planbook.com if you choose to go a digital route. Best of Luck!

    Hi ! Wow what a wonderful classroom ! A couple of questions: how do you make the magnets for the word wall? When is your planner for next year going to be released ?

    • @BridgingLiteracy
      @BridgingLiteracy  8 років тому +1

      +Jenai Om I simple print my sight words on labels, adhere them to the yellow paper, laminate and stick a magnet on the back. I get my magnets from Walmart and they already have a sticky backing so it makes it really easy.

    I've watched this like 4 times! I'd like to know more about those dry erase math practice fluency folders you have (what sheets do have inside?). Really interested in your daily data, counting jar, and estimation station. Thinking about adding that into my 1st grade class. I wish I could come and observe you teach! :) keep sharing, I want to know everything! 😜

    • @BridgingLiteracy
      @BridgingLiteracy  8 років тому

      +tamicay925 You are so sweet! Thank you for watching the 'movie'. I know this was super long but I'm known to ramble A LOT. Yeah, my reading coach shared this with me. If you go on TPT and type math fluency sheets you are bound to get so many. I tried to incorporate various things: finger fluency, die fluency, number fluency, shape fluency... really all you need to do is reflect on what concepts you teach in math and look for fluency sheets. I will do a post soon on my reading/math fluency and early finishers tub. Did you see the vlog post called Questions Answered? It has my explanation about my counting jar. Thanks again. I hope this helped. If not let me know!

    What kinds of categories did your kiddos organize the library books into? This is a fantastic idea, and I never thought of having Kinders do it themselves!

    • @BridgingLiteracy
      @BridgingLiteracy  8 років тому

      We discussed organization and categories in class, then I asked them to organize it themselves with what they had learned. Each year is different, but I ask them to maintain the library throughout the year.

    I am catching up on your vlogs and am very curious about how you had your kinders organize the classroom library. Were their common categories that they came up with? Are there any blog or vlogs that I could get more details about your process? If not, no worries, I know that you are working with older grades now :) Thank you for your vlogs!

    • @BridgingLiteracy
      @BridgingLiteracy  7 років тому

      Welcome! I don't have a video about my K library, I started vlogging after we had it set up. I chose to let the students set up the library. They made their choice by "likeness" while we talked about Fiction and Non-Fiction. Then they came up with their own categories.

    you're classroom is lovely but have you ever considered using yoga balls instead of chairs for the students

    • @rachelcralley4976
      @rachelcralley4976 8 років тому

      +Raylee Hood I've taught in a classroom where students used these and the exercise balls minimized distractions actually because the students could fidget on them instead of tilting their chairs. Expectations and how to use them just need to be enforced and practiced a lot at the beginning of the year, but that is true for anything.
