These heart-warming Christmas Bear stories make me nostalgic for my childhood in Northern Utah. As a five year old child, I used to visit my town's local mayor at his residence. His name was Heber. This kindly old gentleman had so many delightful Christmas renemberancs to impart to his five year old visitor. One of them included a wonderful story about a beautiful black bear that he accidentally woke up one Christmas Eve while venturing into the bear's cave to get out of a snowstorm. What a wondrous Christmas bear that was. It took as many as four slugs at point blank range from Heber's Remington shotgun to bring it down.
The inexplicable Ocean World scenes gave me flashbacks to the equally pointless Pirate World tie-in from the horror that is _Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny_ 😱 Speaking of Xmas oddities, you may want to check out the 1991 _Bloom County_ (or was it _Outland_ by then? 🤔) TV special “A Wish for Wings that Work” featuring Opus the Penguin making the titular request to Santa. I haven’t seen it since it first aired, but being a big Bloom County fan back in the day, it’s bittersweet tone stuck with me all these years 🙂
I've seen that one. Been a long time though. Bloom County was always interesting, Outland maybe not so much, but Bloom County was really cool back in the day. I had a friend who was all in to Opus.
Definitely see the parallels to Ice Cream Bunny! & yes... the Bloom County special is most definitely a forgotten Classic! Didn't Michael Bell provide the voice for Mr. Opus???
@@BarkeyDog I liked Opus just fine, but was more of a Bill the Cat fan (sorry Barkey 😸 Rosebud the Basselope was cool too! 😁) Never got into Outland beyond the first couple strips, after the emotional damage of Bloom County ending, i just had to walk away… i was kind of emo back then 😆
@@thrashpondopons8348 I believe you are correct about Mr. Bell 😁 I always intended to grab a copy of the DVD if i ever saw it in the wild, but it must be fairly scarce as i’ve never run across it all these years 😕
The only bear Christmas I've watched is "Yogi's First Christmas", which I show every year to family on Christmas. Being a Hanna-Barbera cartoon, there are plenty of mistakes to point out throughout the movie.
I only can tolerate Santa and the Three Bears. It's a nice little Christmas story, and the soundtrack is actually pretty good. One of my favorite seasonal songs comes from this movie: Wintertime. And thank all the spirits you did NOT do Yogi's First Christmas this year! Merry Christmas, Barkey!
Strange. I've seen "Santa and the Three Bears" several times in my life. They showed it to us in grade school. Never seen a version with the Ocean World stuff. It usually begins with an old man telling the story to his two grandchildren.
Santa and the Three Bears. Now there's a childhood classic for me! I actually had no idea about the live-action stuff, so I assume it was cut in future airings. (either that or I simply forgot about it) The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas is also a Christmas special I watched, and on its own, the ending is alright. But what makes it weird is that it got two sequels: "The Great Bear Scare," and "Ted E's Thanksgiving." (The first one is a downgrade in the animation department, and the second... I can't even recall, since I haven't watched it in a long time) Those two specials also kind of imply that Christmas ending didn't happen. Unless, chronologically, the Christmas one is the last one in the timeline anyway, lol.
Don't want to be that guy but bears don't hibernate, they go into a state called torpor. It's where they reduce their body temp and sleep lightly, so that if they need to wake up quickly to fight off an intruder or give birth in cases, they can.

I remember watching the Dancing Bears Special when it 1st aired... it was downright surreal! Especially when the Snurps sing!

Obviously that bear had too much eggnog and was feeling no pain.

I vaguely remember that, too. It's better without the Ocean World stuff, for sure!
@@BarkeyDog Barkey Dog, you remind me of two Sesame Street Muppets: Baby Bear and Rowlf.
I really?

funny enough, I watched The Bears That Dance On Christmas Eve before this video came out.

Well... they should still be snoozin' it up, at any rate!
Da bears!
Where are all the Christmas Sharks?!?
They're all at the big Christmas party where Santa sank an ocean liner so all of the sharks got Christmas dinner.
