There should be a copyright law amendment that if a movie is universally praised as 'perfect' then it should not be allowed to be remade. The 1964 Rudolph is perfect and should not have been allowed to be attempted again.

Dean Martin mentioned. Instantly subscribed. It feels like hardly anyone acknowledges the King of Cool

Wasn't the main cause of the major conflict in the second movie from Santa using a bridge?

Yeah, more-or-less. Essentially, no one was allowed to cross Stormella's bridge.
Two elves (Richard Simmons and that other guy) were the first to do so (I believe it was by accident?) and Stormella wanted to deliver justice on them, but Santa refused to hand them over. So when Zoey crossed the bridge, Stormella decided to create the blizzard to retaliate. (and also lock Zoey away in her dungeon)
...Yeah, I watched that special when I was young. Not in theaters, but on TV. Even recorded it too.

Sorry, you dropped the ball not mentioning Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanian's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer from their 1955 classic album Twas the Night Before Christmas. Excellent comedy version and a true classic.

Wait, wasn't the real Rudolph eaten by the Abominable Snowman in back in 1987? My Daddy l told me about what happened on Christmas Eve of that year. No one ever made a movie about it. It was too gruesome of a story for an up beat holiday movie. Prancer and Dancer were eaten too. That's why Santa never delivered presents to anyone in 1987. He didn't have enough reindeer to pull the sleigh until Christmas, 1988. I don't think that film version in 1998 was actually depicting the real Rudolph. That Rudolph in 1998 has to have been an impostor. So, too, are all the other Rudolphs depicted in movies made post 1987.

You wanna know what another reason why "Rudolph: The Movie" flopped in theaters? Here is what its main competition was that holiday.

Stormella and the Sprites of the Northern Lights are lame versions of Winterbolt and Lady Boreal.
