Hey, I'm subscribed to Rudan Roofing. As I subscribed to your channel as well, I'm 63. I'm a retired, I used to be a maintenance supervisor in home, business and apartment's. Now I get to sit back an watch y'all do what you do best. 😂
Nice work on this one. I love these systems. It just keeps getting easier. Only thing I’d mention is to have the breakers on/closed first before turning the BMS. It’ll precharge the capacitors that way.
Came over from Rudan brothers channel, gonna check out your work. Interested in learning about how this solar stuff works . Good luck with your channel
I'm curious what you ended up paying for duty considering you brought it up from Texas directly. No question this is the best and easiest system out there, it's on my wish list! Great video as always! Cheers from Alberta!
This look so great, exactly what I've been hoping to do for some time now. My plan is to parallel 3 sets of these to power the entire house. A huge project, but this video gives me hope that maybe it won't be so bad.😅 2 mini splits after that, and a solar pergola.
This looks great. Nice job! These are so much nicer (and IMHO SAFER) than having bus bars and Class T fuses and wiring crap running all over the place. Excited to see how it works with your mini splits and HVAC loads etc.
Very clean install. One suggestion the battery ring terminals should be 5/16th the ones you installed are quite a bit larger than the stud. You will have a much better connection with the correct size.
Nice job, looks like a good setup. Can't believe you are hotter in Canada than we are in Texas. Been mid 90's most week predicted 97° today. Have been enjoying my mini splits. Finally got solar to them so enjoying the free AC when the sunset out. Thanks for your help with them. Looking forward to your next video..... Jeff
Yeah, I'm up in Aberdeen, South Dakota as we always have clean air to breath and because we are farther north we get light longer because of the curvature of the earth than y'all in the South
The only suggestion that I have is that I would watch the Signature Solar video on setting up the Power Pro Wall Mount battery. There is a set process to follow when setting up the battery, not that I watched it about 4 times and made a list of the order in which to do them (All off, dip switch, communications cable, battery breaker...). The less headaches the better! They are delivering my Outdoor Power Pro Wall Mount battery, which should be arriving next Tuesday, I already have the EG4 6000XP (Indoor) . I am in the process of setting up a full size sub panel (Leviton 30 circuit smart panel) of which I am cutting the bus off at the 10 breaker point and use the bottom portion of the service panel for a few Automatic Transfer Switches. I purchased a metal vertical 72" (2) door cabinet (for the XP and Battery) which will be mounted against the cement wall in the Lanai and will be made air tight/insulated from the outside elements, with (2) 2" PVC pipes from the utility room located on the other side of the wall and will have a small computer fan drawing in cool dry air from inside and returning it. Wiring in, Grid tie for battery charging if needed, Remote Auto Start 12kW Portable Generator if needed, and of course Solar. Just waiting for the battery. I am really enjoying this project. Oh, you may wonder why I opted for the indoor 6000XP and the outdoor Battery. There are new rules that are coming out regarding batteries and where they can be located in the IFA (international Fire Codes) and NFPA 855. So I figure if they decide to insist that these batteries be mounted outside I will be all set and since the enclosure will be low humidity and constant temperature in the 70's the 6000XP will be fine. Good video!
Maybe you can help a novice …. I want the EG4 6000XP to feed grid power to my critical load subpanel and to charge the batteries FIRST. Then if the grid goes down switch over to feeding the battery power to the subpanel . My concern is if it not this way the battery could be in a low level of charge when the power goes out and then I don’t have sufficient battery to service the subpanel. Also, I keep hearing that I should use a 50 amp breaker in my main panel for grid power (to the inverter) and to the subpanel (from the inverter). I have 38 breakers in my main panel and to cover my critical load I will need many of these covered and therefore substantially potentially in excess of 50 amps of service. Am I missing something ? Thanks so much !
Awesome video! Thank you for posting this! Unfortunately, Signature Solar no longer offers that conduit box in the video. They only offer the "builder box," which I find inconvenient compared to what you have. If anyone wants the conduit that's in the video, I just ordered mine from Current Connected.
@@SmitHVAC. I received my conduit box with the door yesterday. They have 2 models, an indoor box with screws and the outdoor box with the latch and lock. Both are shown on the web site.
Great video - you're in Canada - if you are in Ontario (like me), did you get ESA approval for the system? ESA requires UL9540A and UL9540 I believe according to their bulletins - the EG4 18k with the PowerPro battery has UL9540, but not the 6000xp. Or did you do a site-specific inspection?
@@SmitHVAC. ok tks for the response! Can you clarify how the inverter is wired? i imagine: the grid goes to the main panel and from one of the breakers of the main panel the wire goes to the inverter grid port and the just the grid center is the load of the inverter? thanks

Hey, just came across your channel, and i am interested in knowing, why you ordered from texax vice sellers in Canada, any problems with customs and additional charges or shipping? I am looking at going solar, and am about to purchase. I have been trying to figure out which way is best to go to order. Thus far, i found two canadian companies that are in canada and can ship eg4 products, one in new brunswick and one in Ontario, alas none in quebec that i have found thus far that have competitive pricing.
It's definitely tough to get this stuff for a good price in Canada. Signature Solar gives me a discounted price on equipment for being part of their affiliate program. When I bought this system I had to pay an additional $1004 CAD in taxes and customs to get it across the border. That being said I would still purchase it from Signature after experiencing their customer service, I've had a couple small hiccups over the years and they were always excellent in making things right.
@@SmitHVAC. Thank you very much for the reply. Another question if I may, how long did it take for you youtube channel to make money once you went "live". Is it worth it? When calculating time editing the videos, recording and scripting?
@@pierrecharpentier8904 It's tough for a while, you have to enjoy making the videos for the first year or so, or you won't stick with it. It took me right around 1 year to get monetized. Once you start making money there's definitely more motivation!
For about $800 less than this unit you can buy an easy to assemble 15.5 kW, DIY LFP battery kit that uses high quality EVE cells with a smart BMS with active cell balancing, a full suite of communication ports with Bluetooth.
