- The history of Ferrari begins with race cars that could serve double duty on the road. Through the 1950s and well into the 1960s, many of Ferrari’s competition cars, could be driven to an event, raced flat out, and then driven home when the day was over. Although a few limited edition track-focused models had been produced in the 1980s and 1990s, the 360 Challenge Stradale of 2003 was in many ways a return to form for Ferrari. Based on the beloved mid-engine 360 Modena, the Challenge Stradale could weigh nearly 240 lbs less than the standard Modena and also received a host of suspension, engine, and braking modifications. Upon its release, Ferrari’s claim was that the Challenge Stradale was designed for “20% track driving and 80% road use” which clearly aimed it squarely at one of Porsche’s most popular new models- the GT3.
With only around 1,300 Challenge Stradales built between 2003 and 2004, it is no surprise that prices have been trending upward in recent years and will likely continue. Standing at the middle ground between the older analog cars and the more modern vehicles with multi-level traction and stability systems behind the wheel of the 360 Challenge Stradale, you are truly in control.

The sound of these supercar of that era will never be beaten. Pagani Zonda, Lambo Murcielago, CGT, Lexus LFA, Ford GT, Dodge Viper, Ferrari F355 and this will always be the greatest sounding cars in automotive history. Music to my ears
I'm not sure if I would put the viper on the list. Coming directly from the 355 video, the 355 has so much more theater than the 360 and absolutely does belong on the list of best engine sounds.
@@johnhunter7244 Personal Opinion. I think the 3rd gen and ACR viper does sound amazing. I agree with F355 but the 360 has much more character in its sound but both sound equally good for me
lFA isn't part of that era, all those other cars are early 2000's LFA is 2010's but you're not wrong otherwise 😁
@@GhibliNova LFA was in production in 2008 so originally it was a 2000s car but lexus shifted its focus on carbon fiber body.
@GhibliNova LFA started development about the same time, just took 9 years to finish.
To me, this is the BEST Ferrari ever made. The last TRUE visceral bare bones race car for the road. Enzo Ferrari would be PROUD.
The sound is just unparalleled, but I bet the driving experience is waaay greater. If it came from the factory with a 6spd it would even be more bliss.

The best Ferrari is the 458 Speciale. It no longer suffers from the antique F1 transmission. Has modern electronics and better interior that won’t melt away.

I owned one of these cars a few years back (black, yellow interior, race side-windows) and I can confirm (albeit it was not perfect, e.g. ABS) I loved it dearly and never fell in love with any car that after again ...... I miss you so much my little Challenge Stradale😢

I know I'm in a minority for thinking this, but the Ferrari 360 Modena and Challenge Stradale are, to my eye, some of the best looking cars ever made.This video captures a great example of one. Love it.

I love the way the single clutch adds to the experience. The throttle cuts on up shift, the overly violent rev matched downshifts, it’s just special.

Yes, this f360 still is another upgrade from f355. But f430 is just a leap with design from enzo and twin round taillights and 6sp manual

I have one. I raced it for a couple of years. It has at least 6000 redline miles on it. I’ve been over 150 more than a 100 times. At 150 + its breathing is unrestricted. Glorious. Reputed to be the loudest Ferrari.

To me, the late 90's early-mid 2000's Ferraris are the best era. Just enough tech to make them relatively reliable and respectably fast, but still enough old school to where the driver actually has to drive the car. PERFECTION. My 3 favorite Ferraris are the 355 Berlinetta, 360 Modena, amd the 550 Maranello 😊

It does have one of their best exhaust system sounds. 360 was good then this was even better sounding. Before everyone started doing exhausts with valves etc. Upon hearing this you knew it was serious because it left the factory sounding like that.
That OEM exhaust is so good that most people scrap their aftermarket exhaust when they find a Challenge Stradale exhaust for sale.
I think it's literally the best-sounding car from the factory that Ferrari has ever made. Zero modifications required. Just pure bliss, right off the factory floor.

After gettin to know about the blue 360 CS in the US which was converted to a manual, these things have landed on my bucket list. However, I'd prefer a high mileage example cos the Ferraris upto the F430 Scuderia did not like being garage queens n end up havin a bunch of issues. Also that way I won't really have to worry about depreciation either since I'd probably never sell it off. Have had the privilege to go out in 360M with full Tubi Exhaust system n the sounds were incredible!
Apart from that, an acquaintance of my Dad took me for a spin in his Novitec Supercharged 360M. The damn thing made in excess of 550bhp n that too at a time when the flagship front engined V12 Ferraris, the 550 n it's successor the 575M, just made 530 odd BHP. It had an almost straight through exhaust system coupled with a few CS parts too so you barely heard the supercharger whine from it. It was a rowdy machine n I only recently got to know that Novitec only managed to sell the kit to a handful of 360 owners primarily cos back then Ferrari particularly was not happy with the owners who modified their cars.

The 512BB is top of my list for mid-engine Ferraris, followed closely by the 355. But yes, this is a marvelous car.
