Dear lord I love this game. This is what a platformer should be.The art is amazing, the music is fantastic, and the gameplay is so fun.And it even has an interesting story! So glad I bought this game.
Right at the start I wanted to go to another review when I heard "Or-eye" instead of the appropriate, "Or-E" pronunciation. God that hurt the ears, hahaha. Still, I'll give this a listen and attempt to get over it.
I "hate" platformers and Ori is in my top 10 of all time. And with those aesthetics I bet you can play this in 10 years without having your eyes bleed, I can tell timeless games in an instant. :p
Easily the best game I've played this console generation. It may be short relative to bigger titles, but the entire experience was bliss while it lasted. I'd recommend it to any fan of platformers, or games in general.
I'm so happy when games actually pay attention to sound, it just makes such a massive difference in the perceived atmosphere when you got the right sound for the right moment! Really good review!
You wanna know what I love, +ACG? I love how when I am bored and looking for something new to play, I can just scroll through your old reviews with complete confidence that you will point me towards a fucking gem of a game. It happens every time, without fail. You're the best, Karak. Thanks for everything you do, man, I mean it.
+Craig Bellew Yeah XD ...And *yet* all the grown up gamers nowadays *constantly* wax lyrical about their happy memories of *Super-Tough* NES / SNES etc 8-Bit/16-Bit titles from "Back in the Day" - I think kids *can* take the challenge of hard games, and I think we adults often forget this.
Just found your channel, and all of the content is REALLY good. Every second of every video has me pulled in, and the comedic timing of everything is spot on! Keep up the great work man!
I usually don't go for platformers but I'm a huge fan of Ramyan Origin/Legends. I assume this is one of the few games in the genre that I would enjoy. Love the art, music and feels.
i didnt like rayman legend at all its an instant bore to me but ori got me 100% implicated and captivated from the freakin loading screen. Its like if the game possessed my soul from the verymoment i launched it the first time till a whole week after i beaten it
This was the last game that truly blew me away, and reminded me *why* I game at all! - Just fabulous! :D Only negative in any way I could think of : There's no New Game+...Other than that, pretty much gaming perfection!
I'd never heard of this game until now, but I'm getting a similar feeling about it to when I first saw Fez a few years back, and it's on my list for when I get an XB1. Thank you!
I will be playing this at some point. I wonder why so many reviewers miss that this game is heavily influenced by Studio Ghibli animation (Miyazaki and co.), the developers were open about that. I noticed the influence when I saw the first solicits! Anyhow, great review as always.
Fantastic review as always. This game has had me intrested since the E3 trailer last year made a tear run down my face, it looks like it turned out to be an incredible game and I can't wait till it launches tommorow.
Brilliant review as always. About 5hrs in and the first platormer I have played in years that is just old fashioned 2D but it takes me back to Pandemonium and how that changed this genre stylistically. Much harder so far though, but not too hard...yet :)
As usual review was great! I'm starting to see the light at the end of my 360 backlog and might just pick this one up as a break from 360. So many great games on that console about to close the lid on it. You should do a video of top games from last gen so I know I didn't miss anything ;)
Awesome review!, just curious will you be doing a review for Cities:Skyline? because I was looking to get SimCity, then we saw what happened with that...
AngryCentaurGaming Karak please try to review it, your legendary attention to detail was born for getting to review complex system games like Cities Skylines.
Anyone else sometimes just watch his reviews even when you're not interested in the game? Just love ACG's review style! Keep it up man, best reviewer there is.
You're no doubt the most entertaining and credible reviewer there is on UA-cam. Everything you say is backed up by supporting claims and evidence plus you're funny as hell. I think I'm going to purchase this game when I get a chance being that I bought Rayman because of your review and my girlfriend and I are enjoying the shit out of it! One question though... is this game two player?
Damn that sucks. Lol well maybe I can get her to agree to taking turns. I don't usually play platforming games like this too often so it's nice to have someone to laugh with when I'm exploring these things. Any games similar to Ori that are two player you can suggest?
This and Grim Fandango Remastered are pushing me to get a better PC. As always, great review Karak. One question about the save system: Was the resource management aspect punishing at all? Like, will I have to be careful when I use it?
hey mate, i was wondering if you tried AC rogue on pc, as being let down by unity i was thinking about giving rogue a shot. Didnt know if there would be much difference between 360 and pc other than resolution.
I thought I'm a FPS + Action RPG kind of guy, till I saw Trine 2, and wow I fall in love with the beautiful platform games. this game is right in my ally. I bought right away on Steam.
I have been wanting to play this and Cuphead for a long time; don´t have a Xbox One or a decent PC, but I am glad Microsoft is giving it´s audience some good platformers, we all could use more of them (come on Ubi, a new Rayman!). Great review and BTW would want to here you opinion on Shadow of Mordor´s latest DLC
+popcrnshower Old comment, but for me it was harder than all those, maybe even harder than super meat boy. The moveset you have feels different than other platformers and I just had a hard time feeling truly comfortable with some of the moves. Also as Karak mentioned, it can be hard to figure out the geometry of areas due to it's almost ethereal art.
I've seen many many reviews of this game now, and all of them say that Ori is (extremely) hard and frustrating. I really haven't witnessed all this difficulty, I finished it without many worries, the only actually hard parts are the escape sections the first time you face them, and anyway you will eventually beat them. The rest of the game is fairly easy imho. I don't know why everyone says this game is hard, because it's not !
Oh man, it's like Miyamoto and Miyazaki had a baby and named it Ori. This is just excellent! It looks like MS beat Sony to the punch in delivering a GOOD title for their latest console. Of course I expect Bloodborne to rock it's $&^%$ socks off, but still. So glad this is also out on PC
Collision detection is pixel based as far as i can tell. The problems you expedierend can't be of technical nature. I heard of people where the monitor/tv didn't show up enough contrast to separate some of the elements, so they couldn't see the objects perfectly. Maybe that's the reason you ran into some objects you didn't intend to. That's not a collision detection problem, but more of a wrong choice of color palette. They didn't expect people having shitty monitors aka TN panels.
AngryCentaurGaming aww :c but i hope i will enjoy it. nice review btw you covered all topics i wanted from a review unlike some reviewers... (ign i am looking at you and your 2 minute reviews)
AngryCentaurGaming Please do a early access review for savage lands please!!!!! I'd love to see your thoughtas on it! I'd be very greatfull. Keep up the good work man love watching your reviews!!!!!!
Great review. But i do not understand why this game should not be for kids. I beat Probotector (Contra) when i was 11. Some say that Contra was one of the hardest game ever made and somehow i remember it was not that hard :-) Well it was long ago ... very long ago ;-) Or Turrican or Apidya or Gargoyles quest or ...
FleshEatingMouseBottles ! after 5 hours in the game i became a fanboy so its not depressing, its intense gameplay and calm down music is a masterpiece ,sex for eyes and ears
Seems like a missed opportunity not to have this on the PS4 using the touch pad. Good on Microsoft for finally realizing, there is a demand for indie games though.
I am not trying to be rude but your talking leaves me out of breath No really it actually hurts a little o.o im impressed Good review interesting game but still feels like i have seen this somwhere

MrHoooover Thanks bro glad you liked it
Except for OR-eye, I would have to agree. Doesn't complain like some other noobie reviewers
12:09 That exploding children line had me cracking the hell up! Excellent review as always :)

Very nice review!
You just became my #1 source for game reviews...
IGN and Gamespot forgot how to do their job right...
Great review ! You and AngryJoe are one of best reviewers here on youtube.

Jared Kunish You bet bro
Really reminds me of the love child of Dust, Child of light and Rayman with the story telling of great emotional indie films. Can't wait to get it.
NYImpact414 It is, in my opinion, better than all of those. And I loved Child of Light and Rayman
Wow, and I love all 3 of those games. This becomes a day one purchase then.
Love your style of reviews, man. The game does look amazing and as a fan of such platformers I'm so tempted to buy an XBONE...
Georgi Georgiev Thanks so much Georgi

Vadim Arkhipov Not sure
So which part did you consider the Fennec Eater?

This is my favorite game of all time. I have the soundtrack on Spotify, and every time it comes on I have to take a second and just listen.
Shadow Complex and Mark of the Ninja were some of my favorite games, and I'm really looking forward to playing this one.
Another excellent review.
Anyone know how difficult this game is compared to donkey Kong returns, rayman legends, guacamelee etc?
cool thanks, i havent played the guac hard mode (the regular mode was challenging too!) but at least that gives me some sort of gauge
+popcrnshower Old comment, but for me it was harder than all those, maybe even harder than super meat boy. is there a difference between this and the definitive edition
yeah! like a lot. the DE is like the ultimate version of the game.
Excellent review!
How much is this game?
+PandaPwnz 19$ / 19€

This a fantastic game, and a great review... I haven't enjoyed a Metroid style game this much since Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet...
Beavernator Thanks man

Best 2D platformer i have played in a very very long time.
Is this game this insanely hard? You made me have second doubts for getting this :c and I don't know if my pc will be able to run it
Dusan Merdzanovski It is fairly difficult ya
AngryCentaurGaming aww :c but i hope i will enjoy it. nice review btw you covered all topics i wanted from a review unlike some reviewers... (ign i am looking at you and your 2 minute reviews)
Dusan Merdzanovski Even if some sections are hard...sometimes the music gets you inside the game and you don`t get bored or angry.
Gordan Victor yeah i know. i beat the game, but the water thing made me replay that section 10 freking times ;c
Dusan Merdzanovski omg hahah only 10 u must be fking proud of yourself :D
How would you say this games difficulty compares to real ballbusters like DK country returns and super meat boy?
6:08 - I can tell you who if you like ;)
Friend of mine, was in the same grad program as me : soundcloud.com/garethcoker
This look so much like the Trine. I wouldn't be surprise if they're the same creator.
***** Different developers
Damn good review. I just finished the game and I agree with you almost on everything. Just had to pronounce ORI wrong haha
finally gonna get to this game. sitting on my backlog since the day it came out! oxys will be available....

AngryCentaurGaming Please do a early access review for savage lands please!!!!! I'd love to see your thoughtas on it! I'd be very greatfull. Keep up the good work man love watching your reviews!!!!!!
this game is amazing! it's still like one of,if not the best xbox exclusive out there!
Don't underestimate kids for hard games, they can learn pretty fast
I actually never thought my little brothers could finish the game. They usually get frustrated and not play the game at all when it's difficult.
amazing review!
Channel Vargar Thanks man
Or-eye, Ramond, hmmmmmm
Great. Now I'm craving for oxy again.
Great review.
But i do not understand why this game should not be for kids. I beat Probotector (Contra) when i was 11. Some say that Contra was one of the hardest game ever made and somehow i remember it was not that hard :-) Well it was long ago ... very long ago ;-)

12:10 I god damn love this part😂
I loved Rayman (One of my 5 favorite games), but some platformers depress me and this game looks depressing.
FleshEatingMouseBottles ! after 5 hours in the game i became a fanboy so its not depressing, its intense gameplay and calm down music is a masterpiece ,sex for eyes and ears
notis mplampla I may try it out.
The FleshEatingMouse Have you tried it out? :)
***** It was pretty good. It felt depressing for some reason, but gameplay was fantastic.
The FleshEatingMouse Great that the gameplay was fantastic! :D
Maybe if felt depressing because visually it felt enclosing?
I'm glad you played it!
Loved the review loving the game atm 44% in and im so hyped!!Sex for our eyes and ears indeed!!!

OR E not OR I
European "i" that's used in most english words that begin with an "i" inhibitor, igloo, etc etc
it’s clearly short for orianna... there’s literally no excuse with a name that common.
this review is fucking fantastic
glad you enjoyed it
haven't seen a side scroller this pretty since trine.

Good game, but the pacing is a bit off. You eventually get the hang of it, but the progression isn't all that smooth.
Here for de switch
Whats up with 3D platformers? Why noone is making any of those anymore?!
Getting Okami vibes
Hollowed are the Ori
Boris Maric Same thing that was in my head
