I wanted to say something about the escape sequences. during my play through of the game I found some points where it automatically saved by itself. it seems nobody notices those save points because they might have got through that part to quickly. still a great review
Yep I was interested when Ori came out but sadly never got it. Then I saw the e3 trailer for the sequel and I just finished the first one. It is now at the top of my favorite games list.
Even when the game got frustrating; I always thought of Ori, because I always thought they looked adorable. No joke, every time I fought an enemie, I'd say "Dont hurt mah babeh!", even TALK to Ori, like "C'mon Ori, we can do this!" Ori was my goal, I didn't really care if I got to my ACTUAL goal, I just put my attention on keeping Ori SAFE. Thats what I thought, and when I saw those other ways Ori could've died instead of just popping into dust in the Extras/Theater, I would've NEVER played in fear of killing them; they got cut in half, BOTH waist AND head to end! As soon as I got the demo and saw the Prologe, I INSTANTLY fell in love with Naru and Ori. I am SURPRISED I didn't cry at the end! I actually "talked" to the people in the credits, just saying "Thank you for making this wholesome game.", if Ori was real (And not very tiny); I'd give them a big squeeze and never let them go!.... I got really into that, but I dont care. XD
Ok... super weird but I felt the same way talking to Ori and wanting to keep him safe. I would have never told ANYONE this, but apparently it wasn't just me. XD
Just got this game a couple days ago. I'm very pleased with it. While I get your complaint about the do or die dungeon finale challenges, I just did the Ginso Tree one with the water rising. My thumb started to hurt after a few deaths and I let out more than a few expletives, but man, when I finished it, I felt so good :)
@@Jarekthegamingdragon Yes, I could see by some of the footage that the others seem to have a bit more "trial and error" to them, which I could see as lessening the fun.
I remember playing the definitive edition back when it released, I was excited for will of the wisps when it was announced E3 2017 and boy have i've been waiting for it's release. I had my memory refreshed when it came to the Nintendo Switch and played it far too many times to count and I still don't get bored of it. I would agree with your review although the 'Dungeons' were hard especially the escape sequences, with practice you can ace it, I barely die in the game now as my average is always bellow 5 as I know the game off by heart. I got myself a new gaming pc and pre-ordered the game, now I just have to wait until March 11th which isn't too long from now.
On my first playthrough I had over 1 200 deaths, hard but awesome game and yeah the last place(The lava place ,I think its called mount horu??) Heccin sucks but the ruins escape was the most fun escape Imo, and the ginso tree escape always makes me shaky(I have done it 3 or 4 times yet)
Ori is one of the best games i ever played, i like fps, but this game got me, art design, story, soundtrack, everything. Its have special place in my heart.
Try playing one of those escape sequences with a fiddly controller analog stick that's bad at directional inputs Shelving the game until I get a controller that works properly, still I've enjoyed the 30 or so % I've made it through though
I only got the game a few days ago and only cleard the first dungeon today (it's my first PC game and hooking up my controller took a while), so far my only complaint is that hitpoints are kind of meaningless, when you have four hitpoints and one hit takes away three of them, it begs the question of why didn't they just give us two hitpoints? It's a preferrence thing, but I think it'd be nice if those hitpoints meant something.
I LOVE this game! The controls are perfect and it was made right. I do agree that some escape parts were not so good. Except the ginzo tree, that was good. Also, there may or may not be a sequel coming some day.
A sequel is coming. It was announced at E3 of this year. It's name is, "Ori and The Will of The Wisps" and it'll be released in 2019. Just to let you know.
@@ArdonTHS Feb 11 2020 is the current release date. And honestly? If its quality is actually better than O&tBF on all counts (which it's most definitely looking to be), I'm honestly not upset at the rollbacks. In your complaint about the escape sequences, you mention that a single checkpoint could fix this. But there actually ARE at least a single checkpoint in those sections.
Androgyny Joe not sure who i should of replied to to insert my (perhaps unwanted) opinion but i honestly think that they should keep the checkpoints in normal mode at -least-, because the lack of them doesn’t make it any harder. For me, it just made it a lot more frustrating. No amount of difficulty should come at the cost of pacing or the enjoyment of the game. That is just my opinion, however. Feel free to completely disagree. 😂
Man I really hated the escape sequences. And not finding the zone with dash as the game does not naturally lead you there, I wanted to quit so many times. And because of these escape sequences, I will never play the game again.
Great review man...love the detail you go into,i realise you probably wont even see this but just incase you do...we do game reviews (we did an Ori one aswell) and the channel is struggling a bit...can i please ask that you view 1 review and inbox me feedback/critique...not asking for likes or subs ect just want some constructive criticism from someone more experienced. ill understand if you can't as i'm sure people hound you to "like their shit" regularly and i'm sure it can get tiresome...but if you can it would mean a lot to me to get your feedback. thank you
Watching this as the game is about to come to switch. I'm so glad that this takes after metroid rather than castlevania. I personally can't stand the castlevania style so it's made this even more of a must buy. 👍
This is at the top of many people's all time greatest games. Yet all you wanna do is complain about the difficulty? Lol Also, it's 96% OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE on Steam. So you're one of the 4%?
I spent 96% of this video absolutely praising this game and had one complaint about no checkpoints in the escape sequences but that SOME HOW means "all I want to do is complain about the difficulty." I said this game was an absolute must play, I have no clue what video you were watching.

same here ^_^
Ive heard of it, but i never looked into it till i saw will of the wisps at e3.
I attempted the One Life mode today and got 75% of the game done, then an insta kill laser got me in the Forlorn Ruins.
Oh rip...
bad luck :(
Don't give up you can do it! 🙂
I've made it after 30 tries i guess with 99%
took me over 30 tries to get one life mode. On normal I can easily reach below 5 deaths, but one life mode was an absolute challenge.

This is the ONLY super hard game that I've ever enjoyed! The emotions in the game are truly inspiring!
Mikey Henry play Hollow knight then. It may be to your liking from the info in this comment
what about undertale? its even harder and i think its even better
If you haven’t played Celeste or Hollow Knight, then I would highly recommend.
Same... also I enjoyed Hollow knight veryyy much. Both are awesome games
@Just Living Yes? what about it?

That one is easy and not frustrating. It's the other escape sequences that got annoying.

No, there are no checkpoints in the escape sequences. If you die at the very end, you need to do the entire thing over again.
You're both right. In easy mode there is exactly one checkpoint in each escape sequence. In normal and hard mode they removed the checkpoint.
Yes i just figured this out too. It is ONLY when playing on easy it seems !

Does anyone else think Dan should be paid for how much money he's putting in the pockets of the creators of Ori (Moon)? LuL

if I remember correctly... the escape sequences had a few checkpoints...
They only have checkpoints on the easiest setting, which does not count.

oh i kinda get why you're not a big fan of the dungeons, i ended up raging at all three... They where so flippin hard
