Excellent video. I could not find that relay anywhere, until I saw your video. It was exactly where you said it was. I just cut it open and got the relay out and replaced it with a new one. I went to Pep Boys for the replacement part and it was $79. Yikes, but it fixed the problem. Thank you for the great video.

I had to replace mine that was underneath the headlight a few times so I wised up and relocated the relay to the top of the radiator support by the rubber hood adjuster and it seemed to last a few years and just went out recently
Hi Oz, my relay goes bad yearly give or take, is there a way to put the fan to turn on directly with a switch bypassing the fan relay? One local mechanic (not certified) told me not for 1999 and up, I have a 99 Jeep Cherokee Laredo, If it's possible, can you make a video on how to do it or send instruction via youtube message, I would pay you for the video or message with instructions.
You can use a simple relay instead of the jeep relay and lust wire it up. Relays are simple.Main power and ground supplies the power to be transferred and a signal voltage tells the relay to give power out either positive or negative.Get a wire diagram for this relay like the one in this video and a simple relay diagram and do a little wiring.If you are clueless on what i said then have someone else do it or do some research on relays.
@@michaelvictor196, if that was the simple case then when would so many ask? You are wrong, BTW. There is a location marked for it at f10 but there is no relay or fuse there...
I was changing the right front turn signal and saw mine had a hole already cut. I bought an extra from a junkyard jeep. I have discovered the 04 grand cherokee has it in a difference spot. With these cars you also need to check the coolant level from the radiator cap. The overflow tank is misleading.

Oz Mechanics i did that too if i ad grd to it the fan runs so that means either the relay is bad or pcm is bad right? I put two new relays just in case first was bad and still no fan? So is pcm bad?
Everyone of these instructions basically concentrate on the fan and the relay....but what about the electrical motor attached....not one person has talked about connecting the electrical motor....what gives ?!
Chad Dickerson you can use either power probe or a test light to see if the control wire from pcm is grounding the relay. Easy way to bypass to make sure the fans come on is to turn on the ac

I have 04 and the relay is located is not located in that area would you know where else it could be located.

John Nelson where’s it located on the 04? I cut the hole and it’s not there
Hi where was your fan relay located because i have an 04 as well and its not in the location he indicated
In 2004 Jeep located the fan relay to the fuse box.
@frankzee111 , not true. Which is why everyone with an 04 is asking. There is a spot for it at f10 but there is no fuse there.

My fan comes on but it runs low and it runs hot around 240 degrees at red lights and traffic
How did u test that relay under the headlight?
I tested the control wire. Control wire is ground control. So by sending ground it verified the wire integrity is good from the relay to fans

How to fix a fan that runs constantly from cold engine on to hot. Engine continues to overheat.
CHECK WATER PUMP, THERMOSTATO, RADIATOR MAYBE IS DIRTY INSIDE, CATALITIC (INSIDE THIS ITEM HAS A FILTER LIKE BEE PANEL WHEN IS OLD ITS CLOSE GOOD LUCK
Make sure no one ran a toggle switch to keep the fan on at all times
