Hey Nige, we have been alerted to your channel and this video by a potential customer. Great video, thank you! Glad you are happy with your exhaust. And the mint cake! 😂
Love to know how noisy this would be with arrow decat , currently running arrow decat with original silencer ands its not very noisy but dont want to get too much noise
Really couldn't say but removing the db killer even with the cat still installed makes a fair difference. Other 790s I know that have been decatted are extremely loud using aftermarket cans with the db killers removed. I'm keeping my cat fitted because I do a lot of long distance and find too much noise increases fatigue quite significantly. My guess is you'd certainly want to keep the db killer in place. Upsetting the locals is never a smart move anyway, right?!
Sorry RedRupert64, I'm not sure what you mean. There is only one silencer (the "end can"). The entire system comprises the following:- from the header (aka exhaust manifold) there is pipework (c/w lambda temp. sensor) leading (2 into 1) into a catalytic converter (cat). I decided to keep the cat so the bike remains UK road legal. After the cat we get to the parts I have replaced. These are the link pipe from the cat to the end can (the new end cannot be fitted using the original link pipe). The end can has a decibel killer (db killer) at its tip. Removal of the db killer makes the bike illegal for UK public roads and has little effect on weight, but it does release an even better sound than the conversion in its stock form. In standard factory form the sound of the bike is strangled and unpleasant to my ear and I find the end can to be a bit ugly and bulky. These were my main reasons for changing it and I wouldn't expect everyone to agree - it's all in the ear and eye of the beholder, right. Apologies if I haven't understood you or answered your question and thanks for watching.
@@motonige There are two silencers (or mufflers). The item within the swinging arm, behind the engine, as referred to by KTM as the pre-muffler. Having the pre-muffler allows the silencer to be smaller, as well as helping to centralise weight more effectively. I apologise to you, as it seems that you have left the pre-muffler intact. I agree with your reasons for doing so.
@@RedRupert64 OK, I get what you mean now. That is the part I have called the cat. It will, of course, also act as a silencer by constraining the exhaust flow, but it is primarily where the catalytic converter is housed. There are several aftermarket exhaust systems for the bike which "de-cat" it by removing that box and replacing it with more simple pipework, allowing the bike to breathe more freely, weigh considerably less and make a heap of lovely extra noise like Arrow Exhaust's part number 71719M1. www.arrow.it/en/assembled/1662/KTM-790-Adventure-2019 KTM calling it a "pre-silencer" is just weird, but then that's KTM for you 😉. Anyway, I chose NOT to remove that part as I find really loud bikes very tiring on longer trips.

Thank YOU! Great service and a fine product. Shows what we can achieve up here in the Lakes, right? Keep up the good work folks!

Why did you remove the exhaust pre-silencer?
