Bro, with moving platters, this controller could be KING!! Hope y'all have that in the pipeline too. I know a lot of controller DJs are intimidated by the moving platters, and this is a good move for market share, but for pro-users, real deal platters is a necessary feature. Also, tell them to get the XLR booth jacks back on the real platter version 🙏. Forward!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@bpmdjpro so, in other words, would it be good to wait for a moving platter model? The Rane 4 is already a Beast but I can definitely afford to wait for a moving platter version! LET’S GO!!!
Your channel is dope. I definitely subscribed. It's cool seeing you're part of Numark's team. As well checking out your old videos at weddings/events and submissions. I ordered the Prime 4+ and am just scrolling through different channels for techniques and info. I haven't DJ'd much since high school as a Soph-Senior (03-05) in Southern Cali. I sold my gear a few years later. It was just cheesy Gemini stuff at the time haha. But I've done several gigs here and there throughout the years using my friend's gear.... I got more into the recording arts, so that was costly enough.
imo if this is the response to the 1000srt boy did it come years late. LED display does look a bit stutterish hopefully final release will be tweaked. Nice cuts!
The audio from this was recorded in Serato, the phone is plugged in to the input RCA jacks on the back of the FOUR to play a looping beat to scratch over
I like the 4 channels, I'm not feeling the toy platters. I will stick with Rane One, or eventually roll with a Rev 7. Are u hooked up to an Android phone or is it an iphone? Will it work on Android?
@@djnikko you really think it'll cost more than 2k? I just can't see anyone paying more than that for a static controller. I love Rane but even with the hardware stems, I can't see how it's worth more than a full battle setup.
Awesome vid.. im new to dj'ibg but like the look of the rane 4... its this or srt... i read that you can adjust the torque on the srt... does the rane 4 have that option and does that affect its scratching ability?
Too many tiny buttons and knobs. Also the main screen is waaaay too small in the mixer section. Lastly, the non-motorized platters is a HUGE missed opportunity because of the success of the RaneOne. It just looks like a step BACK.
How do you like the platters? Are they fully touch sensitive or you have to put a little downward force? This was Rane’s response to the Pioneer srt1000, they are definitely coming out with something to compete against the rev 7 in the future with moving platters.
The platters are fully touch sensitive, no pressure needed. I really like them now and was honored to be part of the beta testing team. I love turntables and motorized platters so I kept pushing for these to be as responsive as possible. You can see with my 2-Click Flares at 0:19 that I release the platter on the forward motions and the response is super tight, otherwise I would miss that first note of the 6 notes in a 2-Click Flare.
Just a quick question... is the cut in on the fader as long as on the rane one? I mean I really love my rane one... but I dont know if I would have bought it if I knew that the fader had such a long cut in (even with software settings and the dial on the controller turned to a short/fast cut-in). The rane four is an intriguing piece of equipment... but Id probably mostly keep it in my studio space next to a turntable. I would have prefered it either to be even lighter bc it has no moving platters... or at that weight to actually have moving platters :0
@@bpmdjpro Its also adjustable on the hardware on the rane one. But its still pretty damn long... but glad to hear that its very short on the rane FOUR. I find myself cutting totally differently on the rane one than on all the other mixers I own, who have way shorter cut-ins. Thx for your response G! Very helpful.
I have the Rev-1 and the mixer has messed up (2x). I know it’s a beginner controller but I’m an aspiring turntablist and at times move the crossfader hard lol. Would you say the Rane 4 is durable?
All of Ranes products are built like tanks. I have a Rane One. My question though is why looking at the Rane 4 if turntablism is your goal. The rev7 would be the better purchase, not to mention cheaper. With the Rane 4 possibly being $2k, you could get a pair of rane 12s and a numark scratch and have a full battle setup to learn on that costs less than the 4. That's my plan, once I get a pair of 12s I'm going to trade in my Rane one for a battle mixer.
@@atypical_blk_guy I seen other videos and some people have said there’s like no effects on the Rane One. I do like the price though, it’s $400 less than the Pioneer Rev 7. I don’t believe I’m ready for a system that’s 2k just yet. So I was thinking of something that’s under 2K and then in a couple yrs get actual decks and a mixer like the 12’s. A DJ did a review on the Four and said it’s a great option for multiple styles and the platters on the Four are just about as good as the One. He also mentioned that there’s rumors that it’ll be priced the same as the Rev-7 🤷🏻♂️. Still need to do research on the One vs Four.
@@demeriodiaz7967 Yea hardware fx are is the only thing missing from the Rane One. I'm just a hobbyist so spending $400 more for the rev7 didn't make sense. If the Rane 4 is priced around the same as the Rev7, I'll trade in my Rane One and get the 4 once I'm getting paid to DJ. By then I should have a full battle setup. Even though the Rane One doesn't have hardware fx, it's the perfect controller to get into the turntable world. Also you can get the One preowned in great condition for like 1200. Cheers brother.
killed me with static platters. Could never come from the battle world or Technics to it and be satisfied. I've tried and I just couldn't enjoy it the same. Nice work though.
Thanks for the test. I hear the crossfader cuts soft, like with the AMX and the Numark Scratch. Can't be set it sharper? The Rane One has a cut-in setting inside Serado DJ Pro*, but I don't know if this controller works in internal or external mix mode *right here: ua-cam.com/video/F85xClO8MCA/v-deo.html
On the FOUR, Crossfader cut in is set on the hardware in the utility menu (similar to how it’s done on the RANE SEVENTY). There is also a Crossfader curve knob on the front.
Keep the other 2 channels and give me 10 inch Platters instead!!!!! only like 10% of DJs use 4 channels! Why do they keep making these 4 channel controllers??? Give me a me a DDJ-800 with 10 inch platters with Rev7 Mixer layout and paddle effects! THATS ALL WE NEED!!!!
RANE is just adding a non-motorized option to the mix, and will still have gear with motorized platters. Now that Denon DJ is focused on standalone devices, there is a gap in the DJ lineup for a high-end static Serato DJ controller, which the RANE FOUR fills.
So I’m convinced. Every single demo I’ve seen of the R4 the scratching just sounds very watered down…like there’s no treble kinda just sounds like a very low quality file. I thought it was just from using stems but the scratch parts aren’t stems but my ears don’t lie it just doesn’t sound very clear with scratching…maybe it’s just me 🤷🏻♂️
