Midi mapping the stems to the extra hot queue buttons above the jogs on the rev7 gives you similar functionality. But the rane's dedicated buttons are great.

@DJ Carlo if they are going to sell it at 1600€, I think it's gonna kill the market! The FLX-10 is interesting, but I think it will be in the range of 1800-2000€
The only thing I haven’t heard anyone talk about is how much computer you’ll need to use this gear. The stems already take a lot of processing power, how much more does it take to use this, stems on four channels? Thanks for the awesome review Carlo.
This is just a midi based controller so it shouldn’t take more processing power to run. You just have access now to more options so naturally it will take more CPU cycles to do more.
It really depends on how you use Stems. There is a Stems crate in Serato that let's you pre analyze tracks so the Stems files are then linked to the track, but this will take up more space on your hard drive. If you want to use Stems on the fly, then they don't take up any extra space on your drive, but you will need more processing power. I am using a 14" Macbook Pro, 10 core CPU, 14 core GPU with 16gb RAM and 1tb.

Hey Carlo, any issues with the jog wheels since you’ve been using the Rane Four, such as the song not stopping while cueing up or scratching? Mine has been having issues and I’m wondering if I should send it back for a replacement…
Been que pointing my whole collection last year .. rekord box and now i see this. Is there a way (software?) to keep all my que Points from rekordbox and switch to Serato? (Asking for a friend 🤣)
Check out my Best DJ Gear video from last Nov! Should give you a quick insight into the various 4 channel controllers available, with the different features and prices
This or the DDJ FLX10? I've been using Traktor and will be jumping into Rekordbox or Serato. Based on my research, I don't really have a software preference one way or the other... I just want the better piece of hardware.
The real question is who out of Denon and Pioneer will make the first to make a stand alone player with built in stems? The Rane 4 is nice no question and its main rival will be the yet to be released pioneer FLX 10 however imagine a SC600M with built in stems
I'm confused, the XZ has the stem control in serato, because they (Serato) repurposed the performance pads. Is it not like that on cheaper gear? Is it really that big of a difference to have dedicated labled buttons vs the repurposed performance pads?
Actually, for me yes! The performance pads are one thing, but having more buttons for vocals/instrumentals makes it even easier to play around with stems! And tbh, the displays also do help a lot
And Rane One is staying, there is something about the motorized platters i love...I plan to hook my plx1000s into the rane 4 for scratching and motorized feel
Not quite! If you have the right hardware, and Serato 3.0 (which you can upgrade to if you've previously purchased Serato DJ Pro), then you're good to go!
Here's the selling point for me. How does the scratching/jogwheels/crossfader compare to the DDJ-1000? I do technical scratching like you do, and I'll stick with my SRT if the Rane 4 is a step down at all. The inability to control tension is a concern for me.
Personally, I'd say the 1000 is a bit smoother for the jogwheels, but the crossfader (especially given that it's adjustable) is amazing. But, like Zvooka said, if you can test it out at shop, that'd be ideal.
Dammit.. I wanted you to know get one, but I have to upgrade my lights first, Already have the Rane One. I'm planning to sell my DDJ-1000srt and replace it with the RANE FOUR. I'm holding back on buying it.
@DJ Carlo reason I'm asking is because I noticed a big difference using the Rane Empath 3 channel mixer when using the EQ's and the over all sound quality compared to the ddj1000 which I have. So I was thinking to buy the Rane because of that. Have you used the Rane empath mixer?
I wasn’t in the market for a new controller, but this review is really making me thinking of getting one. The size of the controller overall is giving me pause though - for a lot of bars and clubs I work with they have limited space and I’m not sure this would fit in those spaces.
I listen to you always bro sold my SZ2 and bought this 2 days ago and ordered this I felt everything after the DDJ SZ2 flag ship controllers have just been cheaply built and shorted of the goodies we used to always get was hoping for a DDJ SZ3 with a more club standard deck all good though. I love pioneer always will but it was this Rane or the Opus since they are stalling on the XZ2 lol so Ima get down with rane until the xz2 drops then use the Rane for the studio and use the XZ2 for the live stuff
Cool controller. However, why not give re-released the Rane One with all of those features, especially with an 8.5 jog wheel while keeping the screen away from the middle? Ugh! Again, nice controller. But, no motorized platters? It’s a no go for me.
I'm sure it's because the Rane Four is targeting a different market compared to the One. So the One might get a new v2 upgrade eventually, but with the proper target market in mind!
@@djcarlo The Rane one users should’ve been the main target audience for this level of controller. After all, we’ve been asking for all of those upgrades, and it’s disappointing we didn’t get anything, except, another push button controller. Even worst? This one gets a bigger jog wheel, which is more infuriating. Why would they put a bigger jog wheel on a controller that I’m certain this new “target audience” won’t use for any level of scratching? (Let’s be real… this is more for EDM Dj’s). I completely respect your opinion because this is only your pov about this controller, but it’s annoying Rane drop the ball and gave us this crap instead. Again, not mad at you. Just mad at Rane.
Aside from the 4 vs 2 channel control, how do you feel about this controller vs the ddj rev 5. Seems like those two are the leaders of stem control in the market at this point.
Tbh, I'd still go for this just based on the number of features. Though I haven't really played around with the REV5 yet, so I don't think I can give a fully fair assessment yet
Fantastic analysis. Just got the Rane last week. After the setup, I played it, and it worked well. The next day, I wanted to play again. It won't connect to serato on my monitor. Please, what do you think could be the issue?
@@djcarlo when I’m playing a song I usually like to loop out the end. I know there is a loop button, but when you are doing things quickly there is no time to preset the loop that you are going to be using 1 beat or 1/2 beat. I’m saying you can’t do it on the fly line in pioneer in and out. U need to hit shift. And one hand cans hit shift and loop in and out
From what I know, there are no standalones yet with stem features. Maybe Engine DJ will come up with something soon, but the stem separation requires a good amount of processing power! Haha
What is your take on the Rane 4 vs. DDJ-FLX10 using Serato Software. They both look amazing, but what offers more. Price I similar, please help on the comparison of these two controllers.
I Liked the "*" about Stems so far 😀 Can't wait until you review the New Pioneer Flx10 that is rumored to arrive soon. Waiting on that to see if I want Flx10 or Four

Huge question!! Can you tell me if the crossfader is software controlled or hardware controlled? Is the crossfader controlled by Serato in the options?
I seen a lot of bulletproof stuff but I wondered if the Rane QA team was like "Yeah, let's take it to the gun range to make sure this is bulletproof" lol
I was originally looking to upgrade to the Rane one or DDJ Rev 7 for the motorized platters. Is the Rane 4 recommended over the Rane one for someone who's never had motorized platters?
@@djcarlo Thank you. I thought the motorized platters would help improve scratching quality over the DDJ200. I am thinking the XDJ RX3 might be best for me, in spite of having jog wheels. Do you think the XDJ RX3's jog wheels might be an improvement over those on the DDJ 200?
Your review is nice. But at this all reviewers forget those things 1 size and weight 2 butens , faders, pads filling like smooth or hard or velocity sensor or .... 3 jog size. Thank for your videos
Good calls! The size and weight are actually widely available on Rane's website and retailers, that's why I didn't include it anymore. The buttons and faders all feel premium, with a bit of tension, so you feel the quality. Hard, but not too hard essentially. As for the jog wheels, I recall they're about 8.5" big
@@djcarlo if you could do a comparison video that would be brilliant. Or just let me know which you think, when you get a chance. I’ve always used Pioneer, but feel the FLX10 is more for Rekordbox than Serato. I want the best for Serato stems. Thanks for replying

Check out my Best DJ Gear video from last Nov! Should give you a quick insight into the various 4 channel controllers available, with the different features and prices
wish you could use it with rekordbox T.T it to much to have multi playlist between all the programs
Let's see if RB finally comes out with stem control. Otherwise, it wouldn't really make sense haha
Wow wanna try.. very good information 👌 😊
Stems open a whole new world of amazing possibilities Rylie!
@@djcarlo thanks thanks me and follow you very creative dj in world.. I got rane 4 yesterday too. No idea how begin😊😊😁🌈🌈
This or the DDJ FLX10? I've been using Traktor and will be jumping into Rekordbox or Serato. Based on my research, I don't really have a software preference one way or the other... I just want the better piece of hardware.
I haven't received the FLX10 *yet* so I can't say much about it, but the Rane Four is definitely an amazing controller!
The real question is who out of Denon and Pioneer will make the first to make a stand alone player with built in stems? The Rane 4 is nice no question and its main rival will be the yet to be released pioneer FLX 10 however imagine a SC600M with built in stems
Only time will tell there! Let's grab our popcorn, and watch out for it hehe
@@djcarlo Picking up the FLX on Monday!
what would be your choice between Rane 4 and Mixon 8 when using only DJay Pro AI ?!
Good question! Let me do some tests, but I'd say the Mixon 8 would be better, at least till Djay Pro supports the interface on the Rane Four.
Hopefully this is better them the pioneer rev 7 how is the sound card on the rane
I can't complain! Sounded good to me!
DJ Carlo, waiting for you to upload a mix video by using Rane Four!!!!!
Coming soon!
I have a Rane One and love it and will get this and love it even more. onboard FX and STEM, 4 channels, inputs galore! fogettaboutit!
And Rane One is staying, there is something about the motorized platters i love...I plan to hook my plx1000s into the rane 4 for scratching and motorized feel
Creating the dream set up right there!
yo that controller looks sick cant wait to finish the vid
Thanks for the fast comment! Hope you watch till the end and let me know your thoughts!
@@djcarlo the video is really good keep up the good work
Wow so many amazing new controllers pieces of fear coming out this year. Truly a good year for us djs. 🎉
I honestly can't wait to see what arrives next!
Flx 10 ? ;)
What is the phrase absolutely to get your hands on ???
That just means it's worth trying and buying
doesn't your computer have to support stems in order to use this equipment. this seems to be an overlook
Not quite! If you have the right hardware, and Serato 3.0 (which you can upgrade to if you've previously purchased Serato DJ Pro), then you're good to go!
Can you connect vinyl deck to this and use RANE vinyl control for Serato?
Yup! Essentially, you can turn this controller into a full 4-channel one, so if you have two turntables, you can plug 'em into channels 3 & 4.
Here's the selling point for me. How does the scratching/jogwheels/crossfader compare to the DDJ-1000? I do technical scratching like you do, and I'll stick with my SRT if the Rane 4 is a step down at all. The inability to control tension is a concern for me.
i'd go to a shop and get a hands on feel for this
Personally, I'd say the 1000 is a bit smoother for the jogwheels, but the crossfader (especially given that it's adjustable) is amazing. But, like Zvooka said, if you can test it out at shop, that'd be ideal.
@@djcarlo I love the Magvel on my 1000, it's like butter 😂 tysm for your help and great videos!
Dope review, as always. Static platters is a dealbreaker for me.
The Rane One might be a better fit for you Flip-U!
Im sure they will bring out a motorised version soon.
@@djcarlo Thanks! The Rane One looks dope. I'm still using my Numark NS7 which I love.
Dammit.. I wanted you to know get one, but I have to upgrade my lights first, Already have the Rane One. I'm planning to sell my DDJ-1000srt and replace it with the RANE FOUR. I'm holding back on buying it.
I'd say it's a pretty worth upgrade if ever Youkai!
Really looking forward to Pioneers response controller to this.
Same! I hear the FLX10 is their answer
@@djcarlo the only thing missing from that is the effects toggles in the center like the S9 and S11 have.
bigger screens on wheels with info of song and use usb stick for loading songs will be dope and best controller
Agree with the larger jog screens, though they're good enough for me!
How are the EQ's sound and impact when you adjust them compared to the Pioneer DDJ 1000. How is the over all sound quality compared to the DDJ1000?
I'd say they're about even on that front! I didn't discern any big differences with the EQ adjustments
It IS on the larger side, but I'm sure they'll made space for ya
I can understand how happy you are
So many good things to be said about this controller!
Good choice! Indeed, im not a fan of Pioneer switching from their metal controllers, but can't complain much. At least the weight went down haha
Good job.👍 Awesome..👍Thanks for the lesson..🙏🙏
For sure! More reviews coming soon!
@@djcarlo OK.. I always look forward to the next lesson. I learned a lot the from you DJ Carlo. Thanks.
imagine flx 10 and rane 4 with a big display for a standalone device.. that would be crazy
Also crazy expensive I imagine, but man, that would be amazing!
Fantastic analysis. Just got the Rane last week.
After the setup, I played it, and it worked well. The next day, I wanted to play again. It won't connect to serato on my monitor.
Please, what do you think could be the issue?
That's really strange! Have you tried restarting your laptop? Might be a firmware thing too
@@djcarlo yeah, I did but it won’t work.
How many hours have you put on this thing Carlo? Any hardware issues you've run into? I keep hearing about issues.
Quite a LOT. So far, only issue I've had is some slight EQ knob glitches. Otherwise, it works like a dream!
no looping in and out , need to press shift its to far from each other you need 2 hands
Actually, there is! The loop buttons are on the lower right of each jogwheel, and one button is all you need
And one hand cans hit shift and loop in and out
Wish it was a standalone... trying to get away from laptop except for the stems maybe have 2 channel for stems and 2 for standalone
The FLX10 is arriving soon in my country, so ill let you know once I receive it and test it out!
I Liked the "*" about Stems so far 😀
Can't wait until you review the New Pioneer Flx10 that is rumored to arrive soon. Waiting on that to see if I want Flx10 or Four
Indeed! I added that at the 11th hour simply because I found out about the FLX10 while finalizing the edits! Can't wait to see how it holds up against the Rane Four!
Damn no jog tension adjust. How’s the phono preamp though 🤔
I'd like to know the phono preamp quality too
@@machiventa858 word. Imagine it would be on par with the xz or better.
Ah, that's something I've yet to truly test out! I've yet to hear anything bad about it though!
Im so excited to got this on may 5 here in taiwan :)
Exciting! Just 2 more weeks for you!
@@djcarlo so now i can practice all your scratch tutorial with the twist of stems :)
IS THIS STILL WORTH IT FOR BEING OCT 2024 OR IS THERE SOMETHING BETTER COMING…???
The Rane Performer already came out, but this is still pretty solid for Serato users if you ask me!
I think its fairly priced in opposite to many other Units out there.
Indeed. Some of the prices are ridiculous; this one is pretty much worth its weight
Does it work with Virtual Dj? and if it does, how good is it with that sofware?
It does! But I havent tried it out yet, so i dont know how well it works
@@djcarlo Thank you brother! I will just buy that one instead of Rane 1. i guess I just have to get use to Serrato. You have great totorials man! I saw another tutorials but the way you explain is more clear and easy to follow! I have been out of the game for many years. I'm a good dj but with your tutorials I will be even better. Stay humble man! Saludos from DJ CACHE!
Huge question!! Can you tell me if the crossfader is software controlled or hardware controlled? Is the crossfader controlled by Serato in the options?
It’s hardware controlled!
I seen a lot of bulletproof stuff but I wondered if the Rane QA team was like "Yeah, let's take it to the gun range to make sure this is bulletproof" lol
That's what they said! Haha, though I wonder which reviewer is crazy enough to test that
Just a question. Can you play 4 different songs? like a 4 channel mixer or 3 and 4 is just for a instrumental 1's and 2's?
You can! You can make use of the 4 channels for 4-track mixing!
I was originally looking to upgrade to the Rane one or DDJ Rev 7 for the motorized platters. Is the Rane 4 recommended over the Rane one for someone who's never had motorized platters?
I would say yes! It's a more familiar set up for sure
Very nice and packed controller! Thanks for detailed review. Would consider it if something terrible would happen to my SX ^^
It's a good upgrade/replacement, believe me!
Hi idol i have a question if i will connect 2 turntable should i buy dvs expansion or it is freely to use in rane four?
It should be free to use! There are inputs in the back with Line/Phono switches, and you can plug those in as your 3rd and 4th channels
Heat!!! Great review!!!!!
Thanks Akinkunmi! Can't wait to make sets on this baby!
Your review is nice. But at this all reviewers forget those things
1 size and weight
2 butens , faders, pads filling like smooth or hard or velocity sensor or ....
Hi, I’m a Serato user. Which is best in your opinion, Rane 4 or FLX10? 🤔🤔
I've yet to receive my FLX10, so I can't compare the two just yet!
@@djcarlo if you could do a comparison video that would be brilliant. Or just let me know which you think, when you get a chance. I’ve always used Pioneer, but feel the FLX10 is more for Rekordbox than Serato. I want the best for Serato stems. Thanks for replying
I know its for serato 3.0 stems but will the rane four also support serato 2.6? Until a DJ upgrades to a faster Laptop?
Good question. From what I know, it won’t work with it. But you can always disable Stem Functionality on Serato DJ!
