I bought my son an All Weather Ruger American 7mm-08 with a 22 inch barrel. Had him choose the Bell and Carlson stock he wanted which was black with blood vessel texture or spider web red texture. Aluminum in the forearm and aluminum trigger guard upgrade. He loves it and got him a 2x7 Leopold scope for it.
That 2-7 is wise. I have one on my only deer rifle (308). I've had that scope on 5 different rifles over 20 years. One year I dropped it 2 weeks before deer season. I sent it in, they said "We don't work on these old scopes here's a brand new one, would you like upgrades?" I said yes. Vari X2, Matt finish, ballistic dots on the lower hair. $15. 🤣
That sounds like a great light big game setup! Actually the nearly exact next American on my list! Not decided on the exact model of lightweight replacement stock, but a light 7/08 with a 2-7x Leupold, my perfect ‘old guy’ deer and hog rifle. Enjoy that great rig, and good luck! 👍
I dropped my American Predator in an MDT XRS chassis. I love it, plus it got me to AICS mags without buying a whole new rifle to get the bolt that's "cut" for them instead of the rotary mags my gen I came with.
Hi from New Zealand 🇳🇿. Great chassis for the money the Oryx. I put a Howa 28inch heavy barrel action with a Timney trigger in 6.5CM in one. Shoots great and comfortable to shoot. Great vids keep them coming 🤙🏼
Oryx doesn't make a Stanag/AR magazine chassis yet for any barreled action. At present, you'll have to go with the [MDT LSS-XL SA AR] or [ICD AR/MoFo] chassis for Ruger American Ranch rifles. Magpul should have a Ruger American Hunter Stanag stock ready for release in the near future.
@@FAtE_454 The Howa Mini Actions do not use double stacked magazines. The LSI/ATI Ammo Boost 5-round magazines for the 6.5 Grendel/7.62x39 Mini Actions are proprietary, pricey and mine has been unreliable (misfeeds 1 or 2 almost every time). Maybe the even more expensive $120.00 10-round Mamba magazines will be much improved (1/3 the price of the rifle per magazine). The cheapest way to upgrade/fix my 6.5 Grendel Howa Mini Action was to buy the Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Grendel. I have two Orxy chassis, on my Remington 700 and Howa Mini. Both shoot much better with the chassis. I also took the opportunity to swap the trigger for a Trigger Tech while I was at it. Now that is a great trigger!
The Ruger American is probably the most underrated budget rifle out there, my go wild 300 win mag shoots very one inch to 1 1/2 groups at 200 yards not even using match grade ammo and walked out the door with it for $600 on sale
Try your factory mag in the new chassis. I bet it works. The predators came with 3 mag options, one of which was the AICS style. Yours looked like it was the correct one to begin with
Your videos have made me want to pick up a ruger american ranch in 308 or 7.62x39. This stock looks pretty cool, I might have to try it somewhere down the line. I appreciate your information you put out on all the difftent calibers and loads. Makes it pretty helpful for me to decide on what rounds I want to chose a rifle chamberd in.
If you are looking for a video idea. Do a weight comparison and an accuracy test between the stocks. It looks great but It would be interesting to see if it makes a difference!
I wouldn't mind seeing a back to back comparison of a factory stock against a glassed in stock with a harmonic device. I think you would like the results.
Looks sweet! Let’s us know if you see any change in the groups please. I have a 6.5C Predator and if you see any improvement in rigidity/grouping I may have to consider an upgrade. Thanks!
Love this rifle - It is the same action that mostly changed the production long range game 8 years ago or so. So you can buy cheap and build into an RPR basically. I got my 6.5 RAP when they first came out and have been loading and shooting it since (~ 2k rounds or more). 1k is not a problem and my first 1k hit was with a cheap $150 Nikon scope. I bought the howa 1500 mini in 6.5 Grendel with a 20 inch barrel and that gun is sub moa to 400 yards. I use the 123 gr Hornaday, the 124 gr hammer bullets custom load, and the 129 gr nosler accubond custom load. They are all sub moa with that chassis and barrel. That predator stock ain't no slouch with the V shaped metal pillar bedding. My TC Compass II .308 Win has metal pillar bedding. But I like chassis. I have an MDT chassis (LSS Gen 2 with folding stock adapter and the SCS buttstock) for my Mossberg Patriot .308 W and it made that a 1 MOA rifle. There is a design problem with Patriot synthetic stocks that hampers accuracy. MDT does not make a chassis with the 7.05 in distance between action screws for the Compass II SA. But their sister company, Oryx does. In fact, when you order it, it comes through MDT shipping. I had a few problems at first and so I put the rifle back in the factory synthetic stock but then I worked out the problem I had and can offer some insight. First off, yes, you need to take the recoil lug out of your synthetic stock, if it is TC or another brand that uses a separate lug that will contact a slot in the action. Other actions have the lug in the action and you do not have to worry about it. When putting the lug in the Oryx, put one layer of duct tape only as wide as the lug on the bottom of the lug. This is shim and will give exactly the right amount of rise to engage the recoil slot on the action. Secondly, you can get the thumbscrew parts to have keyless adjustment of the cheek riser. I did. Do not bother with those because, handy as they are, you will not get it tight enough to hold. Stay with the original set screws and just keep an allen set around. You will not be adjust the cheek piece unless you are changing shooters or scope height above barrel. Third, look closely at the mag. The MDT polymer and even metal magazines have the right gauge of distance between the retension lips at the top of the magazine to keep the round from jumping out. I also have some double stack p mags and those were nothing but problems. Stick with the MDT mags. The 5 round mag can be a bit difficult to extract the mag but the 10 rd allows your fingers better purchase. On mine, I have both for it. Also, regular medium high rings for me, 2 inches center of scope to center of action. I only use AR mounts if mounting on an AR style rifle. No one, not even Falcon Strike, makes a hydraulic pad for these chassis butt stocks. So, and I have seen another shooter do this, slip on a Pachmayr Decelerator. That is what I have. A day at the range is at least 40 rounds for me. No one has asked me how I get average of 1/2 MOA out of this rifle (other than factory accuracy) but my answer would be, practice, practice, practice. And that means shooting and more than 3 shots for the whole day. I also have a muzzle brake on mine. Manage the recoil. A Vortex Venom 5-25X56 FFP scope (35 ounces.) A 10 round mag of 165 gr is about a pound. So, loaded with that mag full is 13 pounds 9 ounces. Still doesn't feel too heavy to me. Full disclosure, I am a big and strong guy, so I might have an "unfair" advantage. Caldwell sling on some QD sling studs. The MLOK on the bottom of the chassis will fit a bunch of stuff. I did not put a bipod on this. That is extra weight I do not need for hunting. I rest in the Primos trigger stick tripod or a handy tree branch. At the range, I sit and I rest the chassis on an old hand towel on a piece of packing foam on my plastic ammo can, getting as close to real hunting conditions as I can. I always zero and practice with the the butt of the stock against my shoulder. I cannot drag a shooting bench through the primeval forests I have. I can recommend the Oryx as an affordable chassis option for any one from hunting to range shooting to long distance competition. Again, stay with the set screws for adjustable cheek piece, don't bother with the thumb screws. Stick with the MDT magazines. Also, follow the torque directions. No one except them would publish needed torque on action screws. And some stocks, like the Patriot synthetic, you will NOT be able to torque the rear action screw anywhere close to what you need. So, with those, the back of the action is moving and sometimes, you are lucky to be on paper. With the Oryx, they will tell you 60 lbs. My tool goes to 50. So, I step from 30 to 40 then to 50. After that, I put the allen head in my regular non torque tool and give it another snug bump.

😂 seemingly "we _american guys_ " tend to want it to got that way, unfortunately ,most instructions & products is of Chinese origin - ''- 😂 that's my story 😂
I am going to get the Oryx for my Savage 110 in 6.5.
I just got a new savage 110 in 6.5 PRC that is naked. I've been looking at these stocks and will probably get one. I'm looking at their XRS CHASSIS SYSTEM.

I was going between the oryx stocks or the boyds . Ended up going with walnut and laser engraved for a classic look on my ruger american. Love the oryx too tho !
The "King of the Hill" cartoon is why they call you Hank Hill, lol!
Ironic there’s 204 comments ! Scope height is what fits you in my opinion . The low as you can go is good for old stocks that were designed for iron sights but that’s just an opinion ! AR scopes aren’t usually strapped down because bore axis in relation to the butt stock . My $.02
I am with you
There ya go again... now I got to have one..
Sweet setup

That stock should improve your group-nice looking stock.
That is awesome.
My best upgrade has been doing away with the rail and installing a DNZ game reaper , lowered my Burris to the perfect position.

It be awesome to see the prc's bronze barrel in the oryx.
Looks sexy. Just change the scope mount. 👍👍. Definitely a upgrade. Let’s see how she flings projectiles compared to factory stock.
Looking forward to see if accuracy changes.
