Yo Lost In Vegas. I love your reactions and appreciate the variety of genres you chose from. As one of your biggest fans I highly recommend you do a reaction to Mase dropping a diss track on Diddy. Its called "The Oracle 2". Its definitely worth the listen and has potential to be one of the greatest disses of all time. Thanks for the great content.
Would love to see you guys check out Mad Season again. You guys did River of deceit which is the mellowest song on the album. Remember Mad Season consist of Layne Staley from Alice n Chains and Mike McCready guitarist 🎸 from Pearl Jam. I would recommend you guys do Wake up or Long gone day or maybe above. Shoot all of them are good but start with the first song on the album wake up.
Good video! Listen to the live version from Woodstock '94. It's intense. With all of the Purple Rain mentions, if you do a video on that song, I just wanted to let you know that PR is based on Journey's song Faithfully. Prince asked Journey for their blessing, which they excitedly gave. Keep rocking for Vegas!
You should really check out “You” by Candlebox. A real feeling in that song, too. Extremely underrated band. I won’t reveal too much, but “You” has some real feeling, too.
Wow, I never realized how much this song has in common with Would. Both great songs, both have the mellow/menacing intro that follows into an explosive/frustrated chorus. And they both have a dissonant outro over screaming vocals.
The fusion band "Temple of the Dog" (Soundgarden & Pearl Jam members) was also a tribute to Andrew Wood. I love the "Times of Trouble" track. The guitar is so nice, so incredible-sounding, so mellow.
@@Chadner well many of the songs on that album aren’t directly about wood, hunger strike, pushing forward back, four walled world and all night thing quickly being the ones off the top of my head.

I hadn’t heard this song in so so many years. That opening riff…instant time machine. An unexpected flood of emotion came through me. Brought a tear to my eye.
In the Alice in Chains biography I read, it talked about how the lead singer of Candlebox was shooting dope with Layne when this video premiered on MTV. Jerry Cantrell called him an ironic piece of shit and walked out.
@@sebbach3747 when asked about why that was, I’ve heard more than one of those guys in interviews say that because they were underage, it was easier to get heroin than beer. Go figure.
This song is about Andy Wood also! Was that on purpose since you posted this along with Temple of the Dog? Cornell was his roommate and Kevin Martin was close with Chris and met him when he was 16 and had just moved to Seattle. So its super sad that Kevin sang the other song, Say Hello 2 Heaven about Chris when Chris died and Chris had wrote it about Andy. What a sad history for that circle :(
You know that one song that takes you back like a literal time machine to a particular moment in life and it's just so damn bittersweet because it's a moment in time that no matter how easy it is to drift back to those memories and just engulf your soul in it, the minute you hear that melody... it hurts so damn bad because you know you can never be there, and truly experience that particular time in your life again? This is that one song for me. As much as I love this song, and wanted to see your reaction...I almost try to avoid it like the plague. It pulls at my heart strings every damn time 🥺💗.
I so agree with this. I was 21 when this song came out. My whole life ahead of me. My life is great now, my own family, etc. but that ache you feel of your youth gone forever and those carefree times. You hear those first few notes of this song and it's so powerful, you almost get transported back....but not quite. Being a GenX, I think we really got some of the best decades to grow up in. And the stark difference in this world and that one is almost enough to make you cry.
One of the best records of the decade. This, Throwing Copper and Ten were the three albums that changed my musical life in the 90s. The live performance of this on Letterman is amazing.
Definitely an emotional song that captures the feeling of sadness, anger, yet also love that come along with the loss of a friend. It's one of the greatest songs of the 90's in my opinion. Now check out the song "You".
This always reminds me of the distance that took place between my brother and I before he passed. It touches a deep part in my soul and brings me to the edge of Tears every time I hear it.

This Candlebox album is one of my favorite albums. So many great hits, You, Cover Me, Change, and even Blossom are absolutely amazing! Don't sleep on this album!
This is such a great album that I still have in my rotation. "Cover Me" is by far my favorite off this album though. There are so many good ones to choose from . BTW (unrelated to the Grunge-ish marathon) you've got to get back to Pantera. (Groove Metal Marathon perhaps?) As far as I am aware, you have only reacted to "Walk", and the drum track for "Suicide Note Pt. II", in memory of the late, great Vinnie Paul. Walk is great, but just the tip of the iceberg regarding the talent and aggression that Pantera brought to metal. Dimebag Darrell Abbott, is one of the greatest metal guitarists of all time, and was taken before his time. There are way too many Pantera staples to mention here. I am sure Patreon poll would get the job done. One of my personal favorite tracks is "By Demons Be Driven". Vulgar Display Of Power FTW!!!!
Candlebox was one of my favorite groups from that Era! They also put on one hell of a live performance! You guys should definitely check out other songs of theirs.
This song was written about Andrew Wood, former lead singer of the band Mother Love Bone who passed away from a heroin overdose. I believe he died right before their album came out. There’s actually 3 hit songs written about Andrew, this one from Candlebox, Would by Alice In Chains, and Say Hello to Heaven by Temple of the Dog. He was Chris Cornell’s roommate and well known by these other bands. It’s a great song.
The crazy thing to me is that a lot of these artists, even with all the fans and people surrounding them, are still completely alone and are just wanted for what they are and what they have and not who they really are, but you can really tell Andrew was surrounded by people who truly loved him. That's what makes his story so very sad compared to "just another rockstar OD." I put it in parenthesis for the fact that they are all sad, but this one was different and you can really see it.
This song was played at ever school dance I went to. Probably that was the last time I heard it. As an adult listening to it this time it is a really sad song.
Candlebox had musicians a lot of grunge bands didn't have. One of the first CDs I ever owned. They definitely love blues and they have some songs that anyone in the blues genre would respect. Rain is nothing short of amazing.
I was just out of high school and was a band that really hit me out of the gate. I think I was primarily listening to PE, STP, Alice In Chains, Ice Cube and Wu
This album came out the Summer before my senior year in hight school. Dating a girl I thought this song was about a relationship. Left me far behind life moving to fast losing someone that you cared about someone going off to college and your left behind to suffer. Trying to save what you have knowing it’s ending not on your terms. Tortured things are crumbling all around you. Trying to hold on to what you had. Heart broken. It fit for the devastation at the time. Still love this song as well the hole album. I didn’t find out until later in life what it was about. Hey Andy!!! Love crown of thorns makes me cry!
You couldn't share the pain, they watch you suffer...hits hard on the heart. Addiction is real. And watching someone you love in the downward spirals and you are helpless. This song is so beautiful.
Candlebox's self titled debut is gold from start to finish! Definitely check out the opening track "Don't You" for its heavy bluesy hard rock grooves. Other awesome songs on this album include "Change" (a slow burner, but one of my favorites), "You", "Arrow" and "Cover Me." Enjoy 🤘😎🤘
Entire album is awesome. Grew up listening to this. “Changes and “Blossom” are probably my favorites on the album. I can definitely feel the purple rain similarities. It may have been heavily influenced 🤷♂️. Guess it’s a good thing I Iove both songs. Great reaction.
Tribute for the late Andrew Wood from Mother Love Bone, a band you should definitely consider reacting to. "Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns" would be a great place to begin.
They are amazing live!!!!! I've seen them 5 times lol the 5th one was at a smaller venue very intimate and they joined the crowd and hung out with all of us after the concert, very nice guys!
That is one of my top 3 guitar solos of all time and this was always one of my favorite songs to play on guitar as well, it's just such a well written song. While You is another big hit off of that album, my other favorite one is Blossom. It doesn't get enough love.
Hell yes!!! No way I'm not watching this when I see yall checking out an absolute classic and one of the more underappreciated bands from the Seattle scene.. COVER ME also another great one
I love the way George does his "DAMN!!" And his "BAM" Lol. Its Adorable!!! By the way love this song. The instrumentals are awesome and the writing is great!
Listening to this again nearly 30 years later, with a mind to break it down, reveals an interesting structural choice. Rather than going bridge into a solo back to chorus, they go solo into the bridge. That sets the tone and sets it apart from other hits of the era. The solo here describes the mood rather than being the catharsis. And the passion in his voice during the bridge, nearly wordless, is the emotional outburst. It's not the flashy notes that hook you and set your soaring, it's the passion that reaches down into your guts. There is no let up in the final runs through the chorus. Now he's finding his words, and there are too many. They don't fade it out, they run it too hard and it just collapses under the weight of the emotion. Candlebox was among the groups that came around and seemed like they were trying to make grungy hits. But this song stands the test of time because of that structural choice. It doesn't comes across, 30 years later, as trying to mimic the grunge aesthetic. It just sounds like a genuine feel that fits into the popular mood.
You guys need to review the song"Mother" it's a lesser known song by the phenomenal band Blind Melon...Shannon Hoon's voice (R.I.P.) rings out with such raw emotion & pain, kinda sad but a great tune from the days of grunge...enjoy.
I lost my best friend, Paul, during the summer between 5th and 6th grade going up from Elementary to Middle school. I don't remember specifically if it was the last day we spent together, but I remember us hanging out playing until it ended with a fight and him getting in trouble. He got tonsillitis and went in for a quick surgery which had no complications, but the meds they gave him when he went home that night didn't mix well with the aesthesia still in his blood, and he died in his sleep. This song really takes me right back to the very last time I saw him alive, how it wasn't under the most idyllic circumstances, and how I'd cut off my arms just to give him a hug and tell him I miss him. I love and miss you, bro. If there's ever a Get Out of Heaven For 24 Hours card and you can cash it in, visit me anytime after you visit your family and your little bro. I helped him grow up and I think you'd be proud of the man he is today. Just, rain on me once in a while man. Or give me 2 seconds of sun if it's already raining. Or blow a little breeze out of nowhere on a hot and still summer day. I'll know, man.
Love this album beginning to end. I heard the song You on the radio and thought, who is this? I immediately went to the store and bought the cd. Loved it from the 1st lesson. Seen them 4X's and they're great live too. Saw them open for RUSH in 1993. Great show.
The only time I ever seen a band open for Rush (I saw them twelve times) it was these guys on the Counterparts tour, and I was SO pumped that they did because I was already a fan of Candlebox.
@@jessestaggs2136 Me too. I loved and still do that 1st Candlebox album. I saw Primus open for RUSH on the Roll The Bones tour. RUSH is my favorite band. Where did you see the show? I saw them @ Madison Square Garden in NYC.
Rush is one of my all time faves! That show was in San Diego. I was SOOOO tired that night because I had camped out the night before at the same venue to be there early when Pink Floyd tickets went on sale!

I’ll admit I’ve never listened to a Candlebox album but the songs I know like this one and You are really good so I should check out some albums from them… I love this sound from this era. That somber and slow sound but peak notes of powerful voices but usually keeping soft. Man..
If y’all liked this song then definitely peep You as well, much more emotion portrayed there. But I’m still waiting for you guys to do a Santana song..
Go watch the BLINDMELON INTIMATE&INTERACTIVE show...will blow your mind how otherworldly they were, especially Hoon, in a live setting..one of the greatest shows of all time and is truly a spiritual experience. Walk, Soup and St. Andrews Fall are God like. Take care
Fantastic rocking CD from start to finish - a fantastic CD from beginning to the end ... Musically it has some real hints of jazz and blues and straight up kickass rock/alternative. .. Kevin Martin has a great voice and Pete Kletts guitar work was very good, he had some good riffs, some excellent leads, rocking tones and great writing material, the whole band just rocks , i think it belongs in the top 10 CDs the 90s for Hard Rock IMO, it absolutely belongs in the conversation.... Keep rocking
I grew up listening to candle box. They are amazing live. There music still gives me goosebumps and memories of where I was and friends I used to listen to this with
My favorite song by Candlebox is Change . I heard it on the radio before anyone heard this band and I was hooked immediately . After I heard Change I found out Candleox was playing near me the next week. I saw them with about 50 people in a bar in Asbury Park. Months later they were on David Letterman and played Far Behind. The rest is history . One of the best debut rock albums ever
Grew up with these guys. I'll never forget my cousin buying the CD driving around with his friends with me in the backseat of the car vibing out. Good times.
Candlebox had an amazing first album, but I never liked any other album they made. Candlebox had such great potential, but unfortunately their first album was the bands best and only really charting album. Candlebox's other albums just sound so different and weird than their first.
@@purplebeard1526 The album Lucy only had about two good songs on it. Let me ask you a question, name any hit/chart making songs from another Candlebox album after the album Lucy🤔 I bet you can't name any because there unfortunately there none.
I saw these guys for the first time in the UK a few years ago. Tiny venue and hardly anyone in the crowd because they aren't really known here at all. The band were really appreciative and they didn't expect anyone to turn up but those guys still played to 50 fans like they were putting on a show to 50,000 in a stadium, they were awesome.
This song was written about Andrew (Andy) Wood by the lead singer. Their band was recording at the same place Mother Love Bone, Andrew Wood’s band, had made all their albums which helped influence the idea behind the song. The original lyrics were “Now Andy” but were eventually changed to “Now Maybe”. The song “Say Hello to Heaven” was written about Andrew Wood as well!
The fact you enjoyed Candlebox, and didn’t like Jesus Christ Pose or Rusty Cage, is the equivalent to someone enjoying MC Hammer while dissing Public Enemy
I get it, but I don't really like Jesus Christ Pose at all, and Rusty Cage is just ok to me, and this song is just ok to me as well, not great. Outshined is really great though, but actually like Audioslave more than I like RATM and Soundgarden. Totally the best of both worlds in my opinion, all of this is a long way of saying People like what they like, I guess lol.
When this album came out you could not escape them. Every radio station, everywhere and it was glorious. What a great band with their own twist on the sound of the time.
I heard this song randomly on a youtube playlist about 2 years ago and I recognised it from my childhood. I had no idea what it was or who was playing it, but I recognised it instantly to be 100% 90s and one of those songs that Ive heard before and forgot existed for most of my life.
I’ve been watching your channel since the beginning. Seeing you guys having a better understanding of different music and appreciating it has been a pleasure. Thank you.
I will never forget when I bought this CD. I was driving my Mom’s big ass van. When I pulled out of the parking lot, I took off someone’s back bumper with my front bumper. They saw me when it happened and was like, “hey man, not my hooptie”. Lol.
this has been one of my favorite songs for the last 5 years or so. all of my "current" favorite songs are typically songs that i liked long ago and then get reminded of it again.

That's what makes his story so very sad compared to "just another rockstar OD." I put it in parenthesis for the fact that they are all sad, but this one was different and you can really see it.
A lesser know song but also a very good song written about Andrew Wood is Mr. Lovedog by Faster Pussycat
@@howiefelthersnatch3862 That’s cool, I’ll check it out!
Man this takes me back to my senior year in highschool....places, names, faces...all come flooding into memory ❤
Peace from Pennsylvania ✌
HOMESTEAD🤘
This song was played at ever school dance I went to. Probably that was the last time I heard it. As an adult listening to it this time it is a really sad song.
Candlebox had musicians a lot of grunge bands didn't have. One of the first CDs I ever owned. They definitely love blues and they have some songs that anyone in the blues genre would respect. Rain is nothing short of amazing.
I still think "You" is their best song hands down. You got to review that song.
Thank you for taking the time to share that with us.
Peace
You couldn't share the pain, they watch you suffer...hits hard on the heart. Addiction is real. And watching someone you love in the downward spirals and you are helpless. This song is so beautiful.
Candlebox's self titled debut is gold from start to finish! Definitely check out the opening track "Don't You" for its heavy bluesy hard rock grooves. Other awesome songs on this album include "Change" (a slow burner, but one of my favorites), "You", "Arrow" and "Cover Me." Enjoy 🤘😎🤘
Candlebox is so underrated. They are phenomenal
Entire album is awesome. Grew up listening to this. “Changes and “Blossom” are probably my favorites on the album. I can definitely feel the purple rain similarities. It may have been heavily influenced 🤷♂️. Guess it’s a good thing I Iove both songs. Great reaction.
Early 90s alternative was such a mood. Good choice.
I just saw these guys in concert tonight at River Spirit in Tulsa
Tribute for the late Andrew Wood from Mother Love Bone, a band you should definitely consider reacting to. "Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns" would be a great place to begin.
I’d love if they did that one
If you were learning how to play guitar in the early 90’s you learned to play that intro. lol
They are amazing live!!!!! I've seen them 5 times lol the 5th one was at a smaller venue very intimate and they joined the crowd and hung out with all of us after the concert, very nice guys!
Let's all pack our shit and move back to the 90's! Who's with me...!
you'd be hard pressed not to hear this song on the radio at least once a day lol absolute classic
That is one of my top 3 guitar solos of all time and this was always one of my favorite songs to play on guitar as well, it's just such a well written song. While You is another big hit off of that album, my other favorite one is Blossom. It doesn't get enough love.
I'd put it in top 5 grunge solos for sure. Absolutely fire.
I think Blossom might be my favorite song on the album. It's so perfect and hits you in the feelz
Hell yes!!! No way I'm not watching this when I see yall checking out an absolute classic and one of the more underappreciated bands from the Seattle scene.. COVER ME also another great one
“You” is by far my fav from this band but you can’t go wrong with any of their tunes
For some reason i was getting back into this album when i finally quit opiates. It will always has a special place in my heart.
Good song but i think soup, mouth full of cavities, toes across the floor, or the fall of saint Andrews would be a better choice for them
Always tell a true Melonhead if they know "Mother"
You guys should react to “Silverchair - Tomorrow” for 2nd wave of grunge bands in the 90’s.
Came here to recommend the same.
I reckon they would like powderfinger... aussie royalty. So many good songs
They actually already did that as part of the grunge marathon on Patreon
I wish they would do silverchair after frogstomp. Such good music left unnoticed in America
They did on their patreon
I never really thought about it, but the tone of the clean guitar is very Purple Rain.
@@jessestaggs2136
Me too.
@@jessestaggs2136
I saw Pink Floyd too on the Division Bell Tour. Saw them at Giants stadium in NJ. Birthday present for my 19th birthday from my parents.
My favorite Candlebox song. Glad y’all are here for it.
Blossom by Candlebox is an Excellent song. Listen to it.
Candlebox was my first concert. I was 3 years old and they played at a festival in my city. I don’t think they were like huge huge yet but my dad would always take us to watch live music when he got the chance. My dad has a cassette tape with this song and one other on it. Love Candlebox!
I’ll admit I’ve never listened to a Candlebox album but the songs I know like this one and You are really good so I should check out some albums from them… I love this sound from this era. That somber and slow sound but peak notes of powerful voices but usually keeping soft. Man..
You should really do yourself a favor and give this album a chance. Every track is great
Really thoughtful to release this on the anniversary of Andrew Wood's passing. We see y'all
If y’all liked this song then definitely peep You as well, much more emotion portrayed there. But I’m still waiting for you guys to do a Santana song..
I highly recommend seeing Candlebox live. The dude CAN SING. My lady and I were looking at each other in utter amazement.
Take care
R.I.P. Andrew Wood
You cats do thee best reactions period!
I like to see you react to Great White "house of broken love " the extended version intro is straight up blues.
Please do Stone Temple Pilots - “Sex Type Thing”, “Unglued” or “Wicked Garden”
Wicked Garden would be amazing!
Plush is better!!
SMASHING PUMPKINS - first two albums (Gish and Siamese Dream)
Toadies possum kingdom
I grew up listening to candle box. They are amazing live. There music still gives me goosebumps and memories of where I was and friends I used to listen to this with
It’s possible you heard this in an episode of “Eastbound & Down” 😂
I want it to have the pageantry of an Alabama concert.
Candlebox is an incredible band. Peter Klett's solo on this track is killer.
Also, the other big hit from this band is called "You" (I know pretty close title to my other recommendation) and is also pretty much a banger.
I second this.
Yeah, You is way better in my opinion.
The second album "Lucy" is a masterpiece compared to this first album.. A whole different level of artistry
Loved their debut, Lucy is even better! Dig it!
Care to elaborate on the albums past Lucy?
@@purplebeard1526 The album Lucy only had about two good songs on it. Let me ask you a question, name any hit/chart making songs from another Candlebox album after the album Lucy🤔 I bet you can't name any because there unfortunately there none.
@@ThomasConnolly To each their I guess. I loved Lucy (pun intended). I also really enjoyed Happy Pills. A very underrated album to me.
@@ThomasConnolly I couldn't even name an album past Lucy... much less a song...
@@purplebeard1526 Exactly👍
I saw these guys for the first time in the UK a few years ago. Tiny venue and hardly anyone in the crowd because they aren't really known here at all. The band were really appreciative and they didn't expect anyone to turn up but those guys still played to 50 fans like they were putting on a show to 50,000 in a stadium, they were awesome.
A lot of folks consider this song a latter stage of 80s hair metal.
It feels like a crossover between 80s Hard rock and 90s grunge
I’m more in agreement with the 80s hard rock/grunge theory. Not hair metal but too much solid guitar and epic soloing for slacker 90s alternative.
Nah
Far Behind has way more substance anything MC Hammer ever did.
Lol.
Remember as a kid my mother would play their music and loved it from the first time.
this has been one of my favorite songs for the last 5 years or so. all of my "current" favorite songs are typically songs that i liked long ago and then get reminded of it again.
This is the only Candlebox album i ever owned. This song really connected with me back in the early 90s. It still takes me back to that time in my life whenever i hear it.
Candlebox, Filter, and Stabbing Westward are 3 of the biggest club bands from the 90's that people tend to overlook due to the abundance of great music from more well known bands of the era
