I respect Gordon and Flex for their dedication to their chosen craft and art. Hope Gordon continues in competition and helping to expand the art of BJJ even more. God bless you both and many returns

      100% agree regardless of the haters! 83% sub rate tying Rodger Gracie and 90+ wins with only 17 that weren’t subs. Not only those unbelievable stats, but he then calls how he’s going to beat the guy and gives it to the announcer before to read afterwards. That’s a savage right there. I’d say definitely the definition of excellence.

    Gordon THANK YOU for talking about the link between gut health and mental health. This is something that isn’t discussed enough. I’m on the autism spectrum and have found that when I don’t care for the health of my vagus nerve, everything falls apart. Many people on the autism spectrum have gut issues because of the disorder of their vagus nerve. If we can reorient the conversation about mental health to include gut health, it will help so much. I have had all the same stomach problems for a long time, I went to all the doctors, took all the medications, nothing worked. After 10 years of doctors telling me they couldn't figure it out and just give me bogus diagnosis, I decided to stop seeing doctors all together and only tried natural remedies. Honestly the two things that worked for me was swallowing raw garlic every other night, just about 2 to 3 cloves of raw garlic and sometimes during the day. Also swallowing unprocessed coconut oil. Both kill all the bad viruses, bacteria and fungus in the stomach and intestines. You should stick with natural because these medications will only make you worse and actually make more stomach problems. Even though all my gut illnesses are gone, from all those years of medication, there is physical damage to my stomach/intestine lining so my digestion is not perfect but it's manageable. Also very important. Cut the sugar down, sugar feeds all bad bacterias , fungus and viruses. Basically you want to starve them and burn them out with the raw garlic cloves. And never take any medications. Doctors only make money from procedures and medicine. They cant make money on garlic and coconut oil and anything natural so they will never mention it.

    I hope this info might be relayed to Gordon somehow, but I’m a student in psychology and I’ve recently been researching and experimenting with neurotransmitter precursors and amino acids. Fluctuations in my brain chemistry through experimenting has sometimes given me extreme nausea. I read a paper recently which stated that serotonin released into the gut faster than it can be digested may also cause extreme nausea. It would definitely be worthwhile looking at any meds supplements etc you are taking that might be causing neurotransmitter fluctuations and/or even blood pressure changes like caffeine or 5htp for example. Otherwise these fluctuations might be happening naturally as a maladaptive biological response to stress (training/competing). Also high serotonin levels would make you feel less hungry due its ability to increase satiety. Maybe that fungal infection is causing neurotransmitter fluctuations

    • @austindaily3091
      @austindaily3091 2 роки тому

      Speak for yourself, thats awful to just tell people suffering from anxiety to shut up and deal with it. Shit like that is why so many men feel like they cant talk about their problems and end up ruining their lives with addiction problems or killing themselves. Actually a horribly toxic mindset and I cant believe you would try to encourage that. Real men talk about their problems and use them as a way to lift others up, not shit on them.

    • @Karanar
      @Karanar 2 роки тому

      The thing is. You can fix anxiety, but most are to afraid and to ingrained in their coping mechanisms to change anything.
      Nobody can deal with this for you, you have to do it yourself.
      People get tired of having to cope with the fallout and collateral damage these coping mechanisms put people around them through.
      It doesn't matter how you deal with it, but you and only you can.
      So instead of whining about how terrible anxiety is, why not just deal with it?
      Not everyone can be helped. That is just a terrible fact of life

    • @austindaily3091
      @austindaily3091 2 роки тому

      @@Karanar I’m not saying not to deal with anxiety. I’m saying telling men not talk about it is absolutely fucked and is the reason men kill themselves at such a higher rate than women. Shut the fuck up and gtfo with your toxic ass mind set. Edit: you’ve clearly never had someone close to you kill themselves. I just wish they had told me they were struggling.

    I went septic with Staph infection at 14 from a ingrown toenail. I was on a family vacation in PA. I woke up with a narley infected toenail. But we we’re all going to a theme park that day so as a kid you just fight through it.
    By that night I had the worst hip pain I’ve ever felt in my life. At this point I’ve already broken over 8 bones and that didn’t hold a candle to this pain. So my mother brought me to the nearest hospital. I had a 105 temp crying my eyes out in pain. The hospital never drew blood. They kept thinking I had a injury from the roller coasters at the theme park. They literally did nothing for three days but give me shots of morphine in my ass.
    Finally on the third day my mom told them to transfer me to another hospital. I don’t remember any of this on that final day. All I remember was waking up out of surgery on my hip in Pittsburgh children’s hospital. They figured it out right away and went in and flushed out the Staph infection but from it sitting in there for 3 days it destroyed my hip. My leg quit growing from age 14. So once I left the hospital to fly back home they put me on oral antibiotics and the infection came back so I had another surgery at 15 back home in Florida.
    After that surgery they ran a pic line to my heart and I was on IV antibiotics for 3 months. Walked on crutches for 2 years they didn’t want to replace my hip so young but the doctor said go as long as you can until you can. I made it to 30 when I had a total hip replacement. I’ll be 40 in 2 days.
    But the moral to this story is I’ve had mystery illnesses pretty much this whole time. I get sick really easy. I’m just now learning it’s gut related from all that trauma on top of so much heavy antibiotics but all these doctors around me can’t figure it out. My lymph nodes are constantly swollen, bad sinus infections, mucus build up, nausea, anxiety, it’s outta hand. Unfortunately these doctors only know how to treat the symptoms which is more antibiotic use for them to fill out. Instead of getting to the root cause. I don’t have the money to hire these top of the line doctors. Unfortunately it’s a lot of suffering but it’s really nice to hear Gordon talk about it to where I know I’m not crazy I bet I’m dealing with something extremely similar. I remember I was tested for 3 different types of mold toxicity like 7 years ago I came back positive with 2 of them. But that doctors protocol didn’t work.
    I know there’s hope I just have to find the right doctor that can get to the root of the problem!

I started 09, blue belt 10, purple belt 12 and in 14/15 i got a stomach ulcer, poor diet and sex apparently when i spoke to a specialist. SAme thing took me 6-8 months nothing worked, lost 10KG couldnt' train and finally the one specialist gave me some advice, with a lot and i mean a lot of effort i could feel healthy for 6 months at a time I got the point I could train maybe once a week and spend 2 weeks recovering to avoid the pain.

    There is a lot of stress that athletes like yourselves accumulate, some of this is physical, but each holds an internal, deeper sub conscious imprint too. Getting to grips with physical symptoms is always about addressing both.
    Struggling with chronic pain myself and unable to compete with myself let alone others currently, but will find a way. However, medical acupuncture, hypnosis and psycho physical recovery is the way.
    Pm me if you would like some tips, tricks and help.

    HOLY FUCK. I’ve been dealing with very similar gut issues for over a year. Constant nausea, bad bowel movements, gas, burping, horrible mental effects (acute episodes of extreme feelings of dread, and chronic embattled feeling where life is a constant struggle). Never had mental problems in the past. Only recently has the nausea and mentality gotten a little better. I don’t have $100k to spend on that doctor though, so I just hope things get better through my diet and probiotics regimen. I’ve learned nobody gives a fuck about your health except you (of course! but I didn’t fully understand that).

    The source of Gordons nausea is not from his stomach it is from his cervical spine , he should wear a cervical collar on his free time

    Like when he emphasizes that his supreme confidence wasn't a "fake it til u make it" thing; he gradually built it up through obsessive training, never satisfied with his skill set no matter the success. But I'd distinguish between that and the fact that for years GR seemed to have a knack for expressing/exuding confidence so effectively at competitions (via body language etc). You could argue that they're two sides of the same coin, but across competitive sports there's always competitors who excel more than others at the "mental game" before/after/during competition...and they're def not always the most skilled. When an athlete IS super dominant at both the mental & physical games - Michael Jordan, for one - it's a rare pleasure to take in as a fan. i think GR's in that rare group past couple yrs, but the question is can he keep it up long enough to make his legacy enduring legend.

    Hey Gordon, im one of your biggest fans. Love watching your matches over and over.
    But lets get real, u 20 yrs ahead??
    Clearly the last NickyRod fight showed that to be untrue.
    He was in fact closer to sub than u.
