i have a lot of these from 59 to 85 all in really good condition since my grandfather brought them to our country and they were never used
See? This is PRECISELY why I'm collecting US coins like I do. My goal is to get 3 of each year of every coin denomination with each of the mint marks. Except for the State Quarters and State Park Quarters. Those I want every year and mint, but I'm also going for every state and state park minted in that year.
Its really amazing how fast coins like this appreciate. Some coins I had in my old collection would have seen 100x their value today!

I just spent some time on the PCGS site. It was difficult to find it but after more than one search I got to a grading fees page. Unfortunately I can't tell if it would cost me $16 or $300 (+1%) to get a 1970 nickel graded for FS or what an over punch, or double die might cost. I would like to suggest you make a video that takes us through getting 3 or 4 coins slabbed. What do you think?

I had misplaced the 1977 nickel but found it yesterday with some change l put aside. It has a few small marks, but it's in fairly good condition with full steps.

I got a collection that I inherited and I have some 1955 and one like you're showing now which is a 1977 clearly can see steps and all of building windows lines and everything in it and it's shiny like that one is I have over $280 in face value coins that I got but do not know the collector value everything from Penney's all the way up to half dollars and dollars

Its the mint level of the coins condition that sets it apart just like classic cars that were kelp in a garage since new will be worth a lot more than a car same year make and model that were parked outside and ran into the ground for the last 30 years or so

I guess you need to know where to go. For example, I am sitting on a Jefferson Nickel 1963, no mint, with all steps and clean fields. In this miserable desert where everyone cares about tools, there is not much room for a coin this beautiful. It's too easy for people to say, "Well, I wouldn't pay a dime for it." I suppose the same could be said about something like the original manuscript for Gone With The Wind.... not comparing the two mind you.
I also have a mint error on a 1959 D.

The steps are higher than the rest of the design and wear rather quickly. If one looks a little closer there are shorter sets of steps at each end of the building. These steps wear off VERY quickly. If you can find full step nickles they are worth more. Some people feel that unless all three sets of steps are clear it is not a full step nickle. I have been collecting these since the early eighties and have learned that some year nickles full steps do not exist even in proof sets because of die polishing where they buff the coin and change the date to save making up new master dies. I have literally HUNDERDS of full step nickels, many with all three sets of steps clear of defects.
