I need to drill 2 holes in a very hard wood desk about 7/8 thick. I think the Brad bit will do it. The twist bit didn't make a dent. Thank you for the info. Good education.
Hmmm, I was hoping for a more thorough dive into this subject. Like more of a comparison. One goes in at an angle but what about the rest? Very clear and clean presentation though 👍
It's be nice to be able to find a full set of Brad point Hex shank 2mm-10mm drill bits one piece hss not 2 parts bonded friction together as I found a cheap set to be
What diameter bolt? Probably an auger bit, because they are made in large lengths, but if the hole doesn't need to he precise, and you aren't drilling a lot of them, a spade bit is much cheaper. Very few small diameter Brad points are long enough. Same for twist drills.
Hey thanks for the lecture: However I have a question for you if I may: Can you tell me what am I doing wrong with my Forster Drill Bits as well as regular wood drill bits while drilling hard woods the all get very hot and starts smoking. Is it due to the quality of bits material? Is HSS better than regular bits? Your answer is appreciated. Thx

You might be applying too much pressure. You can also try drilling a smaller hole first and then stepping up
Nice
