@OhioPowerTools~ THANK YOU SO MUCH for this highly informative and detailed explanation regarding ALL of these variations of bits which are ultimately meant to cut holes in your material! It has helped me narrow down what specific drill bits I want to add to my collection. My Dad was a Master Tool & Dye Maker and has a huge machine shop filled with just about every type of speciality drill bit ever made! He's 83 yrs old now and gets depressed when I ask him questions about this stuff, because he's physically unable to come down to the shop to work with me. Your video has given me the knowledge I need to identify the specific "type" of drill bits in his collection....there are dozens upon dozens of them. I now feel confident to be able to create an organized storage system for each category and know which bits I can successfully begin to sharpen too! This video has been an absolute life saver for me!! THANKS AGAIN! ~~Christy~~

I’ve been trying to figure out what bit/drill I’d need to drill multiple holes 5 inches in diameter and 12 inches deep into a 8 foot log for a diy project.

Thanks for putting this together! Answered a lot of questions I had...great info, like not to use a hole saw if you are cutting deeper than the depth of the hole saw blade.

Hey, thanks for watching! Any Forstner bit will get you a clean hole, but this is one we recommend and stock www.ohiopowertool.com/milwaukee-tools-48-14-0004

Best way to drill a 1 and 3/8 through wood with nails?

We would recommend a carbide hole saw for something like that. Milwaukee's 49-56-0712 is a great option!

I need to drill a 1/2” hole through 8” of wood. What is the best bit for this?

      Auger bit

      @@AK99581 I agree lol.😂
I already did the test for myself because I got kind of mixed answers from different people. Yes, the auger pit is the best, but the spade bit does pretty well also.
