I hope you do realize that once you get the 3rd floor room done, we are all going to want a series of videos of you giving the room a makeover... a vintage makeover.
Actually, we’ll all want to come stay in your guest room and escape our own families for a while! 😂
@@spaced1298 😂🤣OR, just go thrifting with You, Jocelyn!!🙂
So in addition to all the extra time we got to spend with our loved ones during the lockdown... Jocelyn found the floor! Great job!!!
I feel like we all accomplished something on this day. Haha. Now... if only I can get the rug down...
Ok Jocelyn... interested in a challenge?? Fill one box to be listed on Ebay in 5 minutes. I would love to see this ;)
I swear you are my cat’s spirit human. Lol! She’s been ignoring me for 2 hours & as soon as your video comes on & she hears your voice, she comes running. 🤣😻
3:15 is a humidifier for a Franklin stove. You usually see something like a old time coffee pot on them, but the duck(?) is much better looking.
How Cool!! 🙂
Thank you SO MUCH for talking about your hair color and recommending the Kera products. I play with color as well and can not wait to try these products! Your the best! I love that your allowing Juliet to have fun like this!
I am trying to find the product.
Try soaking the taped on items in the sink in warm water. A lot of times after soaking for 30 minutes or so the tape with slide off pretty easily. The plastic material can be tricky and might have a little residue left but it usually comes off pretty clean for me with that method.
I shall try this. I just hate the smell of the chemical adhesive recovers.
A magic eraser might work...no chemicals!
Crazy Lamp Lady Hmm. I’ve never noticed a smell. 🤷🏻♀️ Just pull it quick. Use our newest sidekick the mask if you have to. 😜😷
Polar bear is for baking soda in the fridge
I had plastic ones in the 70’s
Was going to say. 😀
Probably for the freezer?
I still have mine. And, yes, he is in the fridge filled with baking soda. Now that I've been reminded of him, its probably time to change the baking soda!
Fill the bathtub with warm water, add dawn dish soap, and toss those canisters in. The sticky residue will come off with just a wipe of a wash cloth after a soak! Works like a charm.
Yes exactly , that is what I do with everthing , it just falls right off .
Hi Jocelyn, I just wanted to let you know that I use Goo Gone all the time. I use Goo Gone on cardboard boxes like the Goodwill price tag you just ripped off, and it wouldn't have hurt the box at all. I use it on packages of vintage nylon stockings, I use it for everything and no it will not melt the plastic of your canister set, you just put some on a paper towel and wipe the canister said it won't hurt it at all. When I use it on cardboard I put a piece of paper towel underneath and it will have a mark for a couple of days but the sticker comes off after about an hour of soaking....so really use goo gone for many other things I have and I don't worry about it damaging anything.
Touch each item only once. If you are selling it, put it in a box to leave the room. No need to have to move to shelf then move again.
Legal Rants I agree 😃
However, I understand what she’s doing, I’d need to see it all too before the full process. Very visual 😃
She stated she didn’t have packing material in the room.
I think she said her goal was to clear the floor and get the chair out of the room, so in that sense, she is accomplishing the task without having boxes sitting everywhere, as Casey only takes a few at a time to list. However, you point is noted.
Martha Cueva no big deal to bring up newspaper. Plan ahead. Lol
@@marthacueva8574 Legal never mention wrapping it.
The polar bear is for holding baking soda in the fridge (to get rid of fridge smells).
Enjoying every minute, surprises make me laugh, over a year ago I put things in storage and have little memory what’s there! Blessed and safe days!
Letting go of stuff and gaining SPACE is just as refreshing as the monetary exchange. Great Work! Go! Go! Clear it all out!
That was actually a really fun video to watch! While other youtubers are cutting back on the number of videos you keep us filled and I know it isnt easy so thank you so much. And I can hear the ladies thumbs clicking away to order some color shampoo. I know I am.😀 . Please continue to be safe. I know PA is still on lockdown...I live in the northeast part. I too am cleaning out my forgotten items and listing and boxing up redonate things so know you are not alone in your actions. We are chipping away to make room for new and fresh STUFF. TA-DA 🎶
Living for this room clean out & just think how packed full of goodies the thrift shops will be after the world opens up after everyone decluttering during this time !
Here's Hoping!! 🙂
That bed frame in the background.....ooo Lala love it.
Me Too! I’ve been admiring it since first we got to come into this room!
Eastlake?
Some really great pieces....you birds are Happy HAPPY😁😁😁
When progress equals seeing the floor you know your hooked on the biz lol.
Jocelyn I’ve used goo gone on plastic many times. it does not dull the plastic, it just takes the stickies away. it’s kind of slick and greasy - i think you would have success with it, especially since the canister set is a hard plastic. if you’re worried, try a little of it on a q tip in a tiny spot to test. but i think you’ll be happy with the result.
So glad you are continuing cleaning up that room. Lots of gorgeous stuff and good money to be made. Pretty soon that room will be empty.
Use a hair dryer or heat gun and carefully scrape a little at a time on your label on the cardboard box to the kit.I use a small thin paint scraper. This also helps get tape off better without leaving as much residue. I’ve used goo gone on all kinds of items including plastic without a problem. I haven’t melted anything yet. Love watching you thrift. We don’t have the variety of thrift stores and our goodwill stores aren’t very good. Is there a place or book to go to so I can start learning some of the basics on the different glasses and markings?
Thanks for the fun look at your death pile. I remember some of that stuff. My trick for stickers is a craft heat gun we use for embossing.
Many years ago a boyfriend owned a new corvette every year a new one and what he used to detail his tough grease was White Spot restaurant oil based mayo ( he would ask for a side or two of mayo to go) and it works great and does not leave residue like goo gone. Now a day I use avacodo or olive oil mayo to detail my cars and clean stick residue off of stuff. I think could give it a try on your sticky tape residue Good luck
I love the Mexican pottery plant holder!! I have a little cactus that would look so cute in it 😊
Also -- love the hair update at the end of the video -- always loved your hair (too chicken to try any color other than brown). My hairdresser just texted me and asked if I wanted her to put together an at-home color/conditioner kit for me. She'll include instructions. Heck ya!!
I love your hair and always wondered how you were able to change color so quickly! I never would have asked, so thank you for sharing! Love all your videos!
Undu is wonderful product to get the sticky off most surfaces. I use it to get the residue off of books and it leaves no smell. It will not harm plastics. Great progress on your room. I have been working, too, but mine still looks a mess.
I am an x hairdresser and have noticed your hair lately. I like it so much better and wondered where you were able to get it done since we can't get out. Good job. I love watching your videos. Keep them coming. Hugs.
Your current color is my favorite on you. It's brown, but witht reddish highlights. It's not so drastically different from your natural color, so it's beautiful. Plus, adding the pink gives you a little fun color to play with! You're beautiful no matter what!
I think the black thing is a humidifier ... you’d put it on top of a cast iron stove.
I love hearing your colorful feathered baby calling you in the background. We had a sun named Jojo and we miss his squawks (even though at the time we were hearing him we told him to hush a lot, lol. ) It's a homey sound when a birdie calls. ❤
Eucalyptus oil gets sticky stuff off easily and won't damage the plastic. It smells great too. Love your hair.
You're proving to everybody that you're not a hoarder because if it's in a box you're not hoarding
my experience has been that Goo-Gone leaves plastic cloudy. I just use warm (not too hot) water and dish detergent. Soak it for a few minutes and rub with my fingers and then a sponge. usually comes off well.
That handled piece that you say looks like a duck is a medication"steamer"vessel or to heat oil. The bottom is make for intense heat and that's why it is made with durable material. Also tape residue can be taken off with rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball. Learned that in the hospital cleaning equipment.
Jocelyn, you can get the sticky tape residue off of the canisters by applying peanut butter with a dry rag.
@3:03. You know everyone paused the video right here to go look up “Italian pine cone lamps” 😂😂😂
🧡 those canisters for my orange vintage kitchen!!!
Thanks Jos. This is very motivational. I'm working on my deathpile as well and it feels Liberating.
Hey Jocelyn, I have been using good old fashioned isopropyl alcohol to remove the stickies from tape and those darn price stickers from the Goodwill. They come off cleaner with no damage to items. I found GooGone to be too messy and can be a problem with some items because of leftover residue. Even good old Windex works better. Love your shows . Thanks for the original content that you've been doing to keep new shows going. 💜
Guest room suggestion - how often do you have guests? Why not get an IKEA sofa bed, doesn’t take up much room, then put all your video/editing/ office stuff in that room. You & Drew deserve a special refuge from kids & work, make your bedroom that.
Boy do I wish I wasn’t working, would ❤️ to help you with all this. Organizing, decorating is my jam! Keep up all the great videos👏👏👏
Try “un-do” instead of goo gone. It’s works SOOOO much better and is way less messy. Seriously cuts the work of getting residue off in half and hasn’t harmed anything I’ve put it on. Amazing product
The polar bear with missing stopper is used in the fridge to hold baking soda. I had the exact same one for years and years. We used to put baking soda in the fridge to absorb smells?! Is that still a thing? I don't do it anymore but did for years.
Goo Gone will take stickers off paper. After sticker is removed, dry residue with hair dryer. Will not leave a mark. I use this technique to remove price stickers from books.
Great trick! Now if i can just remember. Uggg if Jocelyn would have oly seen this before ripping off the sticker on that paper box.
WD-40 works also.
Also, if there is a sticker like the gw one, take a hair dryer on high and direct it on the sticker, try to pull it off every little bit until it pulls off easily! I have used that trick on stickers that had been on for years!
Peanut butter works great for removing sticker residue with no damage, I just put it on and leave it for a little while and then wipe away and it’s safe on most things.
for goodwill sticker ,I put damp sponge on it and let it sit for a few minutes, comes right off
your attitude re selling the leftovers is perfect, it doesn't matter what you get for it as the most valuable stuff is where you made your profit, so the rest is all gravy :)
To get stickies off the canisters, smear a bit of liquid dish soap in the marks, let set for a couple of minutes which will loosen it up enough for you to finger nail scrape it off, a paper towel or fabric dish cloth firmly wiped over the area will help with that, then you just rinse off and let dry. Works for me everytime, does well with ceramics too.
Wd40 works on plastic to remove tape sticky and doesn’t hurt it! I think it’s better the goo gone!
Find a product called UnDo. People who do paper crafts use it all of the time to get stickers off of paper. It doesn't leave any marks on paper. It dries perfectly clear. It will get your Goodwill stickers off of the boxes.
Third floor library, chill room would be so nice. Can’t wait to c what u do with it. Would love to have something like that.
Kinda wish I had a third floor room to hide in, ahem -I mean sort through.
G Davis lol 😜
Lol!! I understood completely
🤣 don’t we all!
I'm sure you've heard this one a million times but... vegetable oil will take off sticker goo too just not as quickly. A hairdryer will lift a sticker off boxes, paper etc.
Hair dryer works pretty well to dry up the stickers from goodwill for me. and/or reactivate the glue so they come off cleanly.
Hi Jocelyn. The polarvbear i think is for baking soda in the refigerator. You have some really cute items but you always do. Take care. Stay safe.
Tape or sticker residue comes off easily with equal parts baking soda and any cooking oil. Non toxic and will not harm or scratch surfaces on plastics, acrylic, glass ect ...just in case you haven't been told by thousands yet.
You could turn the room into an office with a bed for guests. A hide-a-bed, convert-a couch, futon, or Murphy bed are all options to disguise (or multi-purpose) a bed.
Miss Crazy Lamp Lady!! Can we have a Show & Tell on your tattoos... I'm interested in what they are and what they mean to you. Also included Andrew with all of his!!!! Please can we includ this in a video???
I just wanna know if she gonna get another sleeve done on her other arm.
I have a question. Why do you move stuff from the boxes to the shelf back to the boxes? It just seems like it would be quicker to move them directly to the box they would end up in, like resell, donate, etc. Just a thought. Of course you will have to show and tell every item!
omg that little red riding hood doll was so adorable!!!
Would the polar bear be for baking soda to put in fridge or freezer? That's what I think .
Peanut butter on tape and sticker residue. Let it sit a bit the rub off with a soft cloth. Works every time. Also try blow dryer on the stickers that are on box’s. Heating up the adhesive may make it easier to remove without damaging the original box?
To remove price tags, place the price tag over the steam of a tea kettle to warm up the glue and it should peel off easily. If the sticker is on paper, check it every few seconds, so you don't damage the surrounding paper. This opens old envelopes too. 🌻
Just wondering if you could make up lots of all the little things and sell them that way? Like a boho lot with your incense box and the India box and some other little bits and bobs? I've seen Goodwill online do auctions like this and they actually seem to be popular if you pop a couple of little desirables (vintage or name brand) in with the everyday. Just thought I'd throw the thought out there. FYI: I heard So. Carolina opened their Goodwill stores up, I'm almost ready to drive down from NH due to thrifting withdrawal, lol. Stay safe and thanks for the video.
Another option for the sticker on box is Undo as it is designed for removing stickers from paper.
The instant coffee container might sell well right now with so many people making whipped coffee at home.
you can also use lemon essential oil to get stickyness and stains off. you often only need a couple of drops and it will also smell very nice afterwards.
A) I love KeraColor. I use platinum to brighten my grays. Beats trying to hide them.
B) Have you ever tried WD-40 for removing ahesive residue? It works as well as Goo Gone, but isn't nearly as likely to damage the surface of plastics. Test in an inconspicuous place on your plastic items to be sure, but in my experience it is safer than Goo Gone most of the time and surprisingly effective at removing the glue goo.
Debee Wallace olive oil is easier & cheaper. A gentle blast from a hair dryer removes any label or residue...I like to use an old credit card to scrape.
The Black duck is a plant watering vessel. My Grandmother had one and that's what she used it for.
Love,watching you and your family.
We had that polar bear when i was growing up. It held baking soda and sat in the fridge to absorb odors. ❤
I think it was a craft piece. Our neighbor made it in ceramic class.
Girl! You need to get those boxes up on a table when going through them. You're wearing your back out. Trust me! You will feel it when you get older. Lol. You're doing a great job on that room!
Yes, I worry about her back too. Maybe set up a card table for yourself Jocelyn.
Sell the canisters!!! People will buy them and deal with the sticky ness themselves?
Un-do is a product everyone should know about. It’s saved me so much time!!
I've never had Goo Gone damage anything, thankfully, because having 2 girls I use it a lot! Over the years, they have put stickers on everything in our house!
A magic eraser getd rid of tape gooeys with no damage.
Rubbing alcohol might work too!
I am a seller in Norway. Its crazy to see what people are paying alot for there arent worth anything here and the other way around 🤣🤣🤣
If you get the natural Goo Gone, the gunk comes off pretty easily and smells like oranges. You can use it on any surface safely.
Avon skin so soft bath oil is awesome to remove sticky residue, i use it for removing labels from glass, plastic, and wood. Even used it to remove foam star sticky residue from sons bedroom ceiling before painting!
I named my "shop" (I don't have a shop, or even an eBay store -- just an account) after my youngest son, which he loved. The big surprise was that it made him a business partner so he's responsible for cleaning items, including removing goo, and occasionally photography. HA! I was paying him a small amount before the shutdown. Now it's his chore and his bro picked up his regular chore. HA HA!
The polar bear is made for baking soda and put in the fridge
Thank you!
Could the black duck be an askos? Greek pottery vessel for pouring liquids such as oils?
I wonder!
That was my guess as well
Busy busy busy...good job💐💖💖💖
For sticky residue on glass or plastic, use something oily. I usually spray Pam cooking spray and let it sit for 5-10 min and then rub it off. Usually works like a charm. Sometimes I have to do a second application but till not difficult.
Use lemon essential oil on the tape residue, comes right off no icky chemicals
Hi Jocelyn, I love the canister set I believe if I used enough Dawn that would remove the tape residue, pleases list
You're doing it girlfriend, you have made good progress and we can now see the floor almost entirely to the chair. YAY!!! It's kind of you to include us in this adventure, because I know for a fact you could have got it done in half the time, if you weren't bothering to share it with all of us. It's amazing the things one can accumulate over the years. What you are doing should be inspiring all of us to clean out that cluttered closet or cupboard and reclaim our space. The trouble I have at the moment is how to get rid of stuff I don't want?! I don't want to chuck it in the trash, but I'm not a seller on any format. I guess I will box up what I don't want and wait for life to get back to normal, hopefully soon, so I can donate it to charity.
It was providential you getting the store when you did. It is going to be so much help to you because you will now have a space to get organized in, without filling up your home. Plus you have a place to take all the stuff you are cleaning out. I am looking forward to the chair removal, and how lovely that room is going to look when you have reached your goal. Don't be discouraged, you will get there, it's just a matter of one item at a time, one box, then two, and before you know it, it will be done. Will you show us the room when you decorate it? I think it would be so much fun to see how it turns out. I hope you have a God blessed day!
The “grandma” doll is called a topsy-turvy doll. Most were homemade.
That black thing @the beginning looks like a very old style of oil lamp... a wick could come out of the beak area and the oil would be poured in at the top...
Jocelyn on those containers with the brown lid the plastic ones if you take them and you soak them in just plain hot water it will take off The tape and it doesn't leave a residue
Hair dryer helps to get stickers off as it melts the glue. Also you can use a small amount of spray furniture polish to remove stickers and to clean vintage card boxes
Love the Kera color too! I have gray hair and I use the silver blue and highlight with blue. It smells great and make my hair really soft.
Use peanut butter to remove the adhesive. Works like a charm! Spread it on and let it sit for a bit.
I REALLY LOVE that Grandma/Wolf doll, I'm a special Ed Teacher, doing Virtual Learning classes and my kids would LOVE IT! 🤓
U don’t need goo gone. Use more packing tape and stick it on and pull of a whole bunch of times. I make a wad of it and just keep hitting it with it and eventually it picks up the adhesive. No melting.
Girl! Im a hairderesser and I can't believe how good that Kera color works! I will definitely be checking that out.
It's a bike saddle, bikes have saddles because you ride them, think horse saddle, you ride in those. Seats are something you sit on. I put Dawn on tape goo, and let it sit for a while. I have pretty good luck with that.
For the tape residue removal: Get another piece of strong tape and stick it on the residue parts and then remove it fast. That should get rid most of it. The little rest kann be removed with any kind of oil and a soft towel. It's quick, easy and doesn't destroy anything.
Nail polish remover on a makeup remover/cosmetic pad will zap that adhesive right off plastic without harming the plastic. It evaporates almost instantly. Plastic is the only thing I use it on though. The polar bear is for holding baking soda to keep your fridge smelling nice. You set him back in the corner.
Thanks for the color tip. I just got my too long hair cut before the shut down and new color and down with the grey. I gave 13" to the locks of love, that's a lot of hair, my hair is still shoulder length. But it grows so fast, the grey is almost showing already, this product could be helpful in keeping the very expensive color together for much longer. Thanks again!
I use mayonnaise to remove tape residue. Paste it on, leave for hour or so wash off. No harsh chemicals.
I looked up those pine cone lamps on eBay and she has a message to you in her listing now! How crazy!!
OMG. I feel bad. That was SO long ago. I never expected they’d still be there. 🤦♀️
The product you use on your hair looks great. Your hair looks nice. I like the color and the condition of your hair is pretty.
I've found rubbing alcohol will take sticky tape residue of plastics, if you are careful and wash them in warm soapy water afterwards. You might give that a try, as it is far less smelly that Goo Gone.
Room looks better every day good for you!
