I used to do hoops for circus and I was hooping between 30-90mins a day. Make sure you hoop in your "natural" direction and in the direction that feels weird (it will be much more difficult!). If you're used to hooping to the right, make sure to also swap and hoop to the left. One of the students in my cohort had to leave the hooping program after she developed scolliosis from only hooping in one direction. Granted, we were doing this a lot - it was going to be a career! As usual, check in with a doctor if you're concerned with anything.
Great tip! I also want to add that it's best to hoop for a limited amount of time. We had these weighted hoolahoops (I think the same as they used in this video) and the instructions said to not do it for longer than 15min. If the hoops aren't weighted then I guess you could do it longer, but just something to keep in mind.
@@cheryl-lynnmehring8606 I did trampoline, trapeze, aerial contortion (corde lisse and silks) and hula hoops. Basically a bit of everything, but my favorite was actually trampoline. I didn't get into flying trapeze much, as I'm not a small person. They typically want their flyers to be small women, and at 5'10" and 75kg, I was too big to be a flyer and too small to be a base. There are little circus schools you can find all over the world who do classes just for fun. I highly recommend giving it a try. It's a heck of a workout, but it's fun and keeps your brain engaged.
Hey, I just saw your comment and thought maybe you're the right person on the comments to ask this. I hoola hopped for 20 mins - 10 mins each side the 1st day. My waist was bruised( I bruise easily) but it was really hurting when I tried the next day. I wanted to know if this is happening to everyone and I should continue. Also would increasing the time slowly from 5 mins to eventually going to 20 mins will minimise bruising
@@priyankavasant9341 Are you using a weighted hoop? Weighted hoops can definitely bruise if you've never used one before. I'd recommend start with a large hoop without weights and start off light with the weighted hoop. You could even drop it to 2.5 minutes each side. If you feel like that isn't enough, try doing a short set in the morning and one in the evening to give your body time to recover. But I definitely don't recommend to keep going with bruising.
I’m not trying to be mean when i say this, but please don’t put that kind of pressure on people. When I get older I want to be like mama maples ❤️
Mama Maples is a whole mood! Hahaha
Hula hooping is actually a great exercise, specially doing tricks and dancing. Heavier hula hoops, although easier to balance, are not that good for our bodies, hence the bruising. Lighter hoops are the way to go!
I think you should try the jump rope challenge next!! Love when mama maples in is the videos!!
Your videos are keeping me together rn bc I’m going through the worst situation and your videos are helping me soooo much! Every time I see someone comment that I always think how? But now ik what they mean. I am now one of those ppl! ❤❤❤ you and mama maples are my light at the end of the tunnel. ❤
This video is the motivation I needed to use my Hula Hoop again… haha… the Mama Maples Voice in my head *THANK YOU MIA* 😂💛
You deserve a lot more subscribers, you are sooo dedicated to your work... Love you❤️
Can you do a day in a life of chip, he is just so cute….

I’ve been so excited for this video!!!!!!! I clicked so fast tysm Mia 💗
So we Indians are generally very close to our parents and don’t move out so soon and stuff, so seeing you being so close to your mom at this age is the cutest thing ever !!!!
Moms are the best ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I would love to see you guys do 30 days of yoga with Adriene!
Wow Mia you make hula hooping look effortless! I’m lucky to keep it going ! I think I will invest in a weighted hoop like yours.
Omg I used to hoop dance when I was younger, this is giving me life
mama maples always looks SO cute! (as does mia work obviously)
Mama maples’ laugh is just music to my ears
For health reasons, I also had to switch to a gluten-free, dairy-free, no-sugar-added diet. I’d LOVE to see a video about your experience and what you typically eat in a week! I’d feel less alone and it’d be awesome to get new meal ideas!
Suddenly I feel the urge to get a hula hoop
Can you please do a video where you follow an icing artist video!!!????Also I love you
When Mama was clapping as she counted down I was laughing so hard. Then Mia looks so relaxed and professional.
It’s so nice to see another mother and daughter have such a close relationship. I have a very strong bond with my mom
I've been waiting for this video for so long!!!
Love how I’m watching you guys work out with the hula hoops and an add comes on for something sweet and buttery.
Girl, your abs are ripped
yea omg
My mom was doing just a regular hula hoop workout, not even a weighted one, and she ended up with a pinched nerve that caused her leg to go completely numb. she ended up having to do PT and everything! This was maybe 2-3 years ago and she still sometimes has numbness if she's laying/sitting in the wrong positions. I guess there are hazards to even something as simple as hula hooping! who knew?!
Chip be like: oh no, exercising!! I'm trembling. PLease get me out of here.
I can relate to Chip.
Mama maples is the sweetest. I live 5.5 hrs from mine so it’s really nice seeing her and laughing along with yall. She reminds me of my mom!
