  • In this video we troubleshoot and repair the bumper sensor that was giving false readings on a 2015 Tesla Model S P90D. This one has Ludicrous Mode, but it's not the incredible speed we are talking about today. The parking sensor and bracket were dislodged from the bumper and needed to be remounted in the correct location on the bumper cover. It turns out that the internal clearances with the bumper and sensor were causing the problem. I ultimately grind the bumper to make clearance for the sensor and reassemble the car with the problem solved.

Some sheet metal flew out of a pickup and while it caused only minor scratches, it did dislodge the front sensor. I'm not a car buff but your video was super helpful, as well as the list of materials you provided. Fingers crossed!

seriously simple. cars aren't rocket science. they are just a bunch of parts and these parts aren't hard to get to or compromise your safety. You got this!

I was watching and said that you should have put it all in at one time.

Wow I have the exact same car as you with the same front right sensor dislodged. I’m going to follow your lead on this one. This video was very helpful. My only question , do you think you could get away using VHB high bond tape to hold the tab on. Automotive grade. That could be a quick solution with little wait time.
Once again I appreciate it and thank you very much for a great video.

Vhb is good stuff. I think that if your bumper is not going to press against it, it may be ok. The first time you scrape over a parking bumper, it may dislodge it again. The grinding made way better clearance. Let us know how it works for you.

Good deal, I did the job in 10 minutes after watching your video last night. I only took out the center cover panel , the right side bolt on top of it and the torx screw in the wheel well. Then just pryd it open and removed that mounting plate. Applied two big strips of VHB and reset it. Had it all back together in a few minutes. Turned out to be a huge help. I got a previous quote from Tesla and it was several thousand dollars.
      Once again I appreciate it.
