Goodness! I haven’t checked my channel in YEARS. This video quality is sooo bad. 😂 I’ll definitely dig out my trusted copy of this movie and try to get a better video uploaded soon. I have had so many life changes since I posted this video, and now have a 6 month old boy. He loves this movie soundtrack. ❤ I’m glad you guys got to enjoy a classic blast from the past ❤. Regardless of what the quality of the video is.
I remember very well the first time I saw this movie on VHS with my family. it was the year of 1991. it was my eighth birthday. I remember my grandmother came from Santa Paula to stay with me and my family for the weekend. my mom and I rented this movie from the local library. I remember sitting on the floor of the living room watching the movie together with my family. I was drawn to this song the first time I heard it.
@@starbright45 extremely, we all spent about a month with learning the steps which she came to also, and the singing, in studio, we all kinks loved her she was so inclusive. I only talk to two of the other children, and we all fondly remember her
I saw this movie at a drive inn as a kid a few years younger than Pete but I felt like it was a picture about my life at the time with a father who was like the Gogans I had to keep my eyes averted from my dad's while watching this movie because I was one of those kids who's eyes and face was easy to read very easy to read. In the years after now things are a little more at ease but not too terribly much in all ways but still is my favorite Disney movie.
in spite of how young I was when I first saw this movie on VHS with my family I was old enough to understand the context of this song. the message of this song is that no matter how different a person is from other people we all have a right to live in the world.
This gives me so much nostalgia it's almost painful. This is probably the number that made me love musicals for life, it's so beautiful. (I also remember trying to decide which of the girls' dresses I liked the most, and I never could choose!)
Pete's Dragon is one of my all time favourite musicals. The songs are so catchy and easy to learn. I went to see it loads of times in the cinema . I have it on blu ray and like to watch it. It really cheers me up on a rainy day.
"Why is everybody late?""We were playing with Nora, Pete, and his dragon.""His wagon?""No, dragon!""Dragon, wagon. That's no excuse for being late. Get inside."
*100%* I *LOVED* this film and still do. I remember having the vinyl record as a child and playing it SO MUCH that I wore it out. When plans for a remake were announced, I was actually _SO, SO, EXCITED._ Excited to hear the songs and to see this MASTERPIECE updated. I was *DEVASTATED* upon learning they would NOT be making it into a musical. I'm sorry, but you *CAN'T* have _Pete's Dragon_ and *NOT* include the music. The 2016 film wasn't "bad", per se but it didn't have the heart of the original, and I found myself disappointed. ❤️
Two reasons i love this all time Walt Disney family classic musical with a great starcast. From my small very young boy childhood i have always loved dragons. And when this great brilliant film came out it was the only film my Ma two young brothers and me went to see at the Odeon in Glasgow. That was our special day place in time. This is a brilliant film. Many great stars in it. A great soundtrack.
I love the dialogue between one of the fishermen and Nora right before this song: Fisherman: hey kid, there ain't no room in this town for a dragon, and there ain't no room in this town for jinks like you either. Nora: well, if there's enough room for a chowder head like you then there's more than enough room for a dragon.
Funny how you realize how genius the Disney writing staff was when creating these songs. Currently listening to this watching Israel attack Gaza, a city with 2 million people in it who cannot leave after people from that city attacked Israelis because neither can share the land as God planed it.
Just before this scene Pete says “You don’t name girls Elliot!” That’s actually not true! I’ve heard the name Elliot used for a girl a few times over the years! And a friend of my mums son just recently had a baby girl which they named Elliot! Elliot is not strictly a masculine name, it’s gender neutral!
the fishermen were saying that Pete and his dragon do not belong in the town. they were blaming Pete and his dragon for the fact that they were not catching any fish.

The most underrated Disney movie in history. In my opinion anyway.
Kawaii Disney it’s not just your opinion! I couldn’t agree more!
The most underrated live action Disney movie next to Camp Nowhere!
I agree! Such a great message and beautiful music! ❤️
I grew up watching this VHS and wearing it to death. Let's pretend the remake never happened bc that was a disastrous mess.
My favorite!!❤❤❤❤❤
One of my favorite Disney movie musicals. I had the album and use to play it over and over singing all the songs.

R. I. P., Helen Reddy. An "'AMAZING!!'" Legend!!!
Reddy was such a great singer.
Scott Minnella still is
RIP Helen Reddy, we kids on set loved her..😔
@horrorflickguyyes, I was one of many children that were singers and dancers on the film on disney's back lot in the late 70's.

One of my favorite songs from the movie!
I was singing this song a minute ago and I came here because this is a classic song and movie and this was my childhood. I love the old Disney!

was the turning point.
it must have been so much fun to be a kid in a disney movie :)

beyond beautiful.
Rewatching this now, my takeaway is anxiety over that playground of mast and rigging.

I love when Elliott pushes Nora and she's like " wow! That was a big push noop can't stop singing"
Splendid video!
RIP Helen Reddy
3:18 Nora was pushed higher on the swing by Elliot.
Helen Reddy/Nora sounds a lot like "Jodie" from the children's program "Today's Special"! :)
As a vegan for the animals in 2020. This song was way ahead of its time. RIP Helen Reddy 🙌
Olivia Newton John was considered for role of Nora, but she wasn’t available. Do you think she would’ve done a good job if she did take it?
Maybe . This Nora was great because of the fiesty protectiveness. Olivia probably wouldn't had had that.
Both Australian women.
Both RIP
I can't imagine anyone else playing Nora I love Olivia don't get me wrong but Helen did a great job love this movie so much .
I love when that kid pushes that girl out of the way to sing his part.
make these videos available. it should be allowed to listen to
I like the motto "There's room for everyone in this world"
And I think I'll rewrite the lyrics since like it said, there's room for everyone

❤
Actually, being a recording from your IPhone, it's still pretty good. :) my only bad critic is that I sometimes couldn't see the lyrics hehe.
"Well, if there's more than enough room for a chowderhead like you, then there's more than enough room for a dragon."
-Helen Reddy
The teacher's going to Nora "Thank you very much for making my pupils late!"

A good message to hear these days. Too bad it would never be accepted in today's climate.
If only Donald Trump could see this! "If there's room for a chowder head like you.."
Oh lord. Hes cool with people coming to the country. He just wants them to come legally and not be some criminal or terrorist. Perfectly reasonable.

The singing was good, .. . not sure about that dancing though ( lookwed kinda stupid to me ).
Ian Findlay it was a different time
+Ian Findlay Especially when you think that, if this was done in real life, there was no musical accompaniment - just boots on hard dirt.
I actually kind of like the dancing
Back in those days that kind of dancing was normal, if you danced like that now you would look a bit of an idiot hahaha
*Pete's Dragon* is also a period piece, set in the early 1900s.
Helen Reddy: There's room for everyone in this world... except for unborn babies!"
What a stupid comment!
