That castle was surprisingly well prepared for an attack by giant baked goods. Can we rule out that the Muffin Man hasn't attempted something like this before?
His wife was also a known sympathizer to the fairy tale creature’s movement for equality and based on what the gingerbread man said under torture we can assume she was instrumental in forming their underground
If I got this correct, this was where the studio archives unearthed a singing audition tape she did for something else 20 odd years before this role and this was how she got it. I believe she told this on the Graham Norton show.
The Fairy Godmother is easily one of the best, if not the best villain in all of childrens animation. Shes one of the few villains that actually has explained morals behind her explained motives.
I also found Ursula interesting because normally a villian hides their agenda or more dangerous ideas and reveal it after the hero made the wrong choice. But Ursula threw it all down not hiding anything. Even demonstrating what happens when others failed the task and what would happen if Ariel failed. Even said Ariel could leave if she changed her mind but tried to test the limits and it worked.

Oh my God, this scene goes too hard. There are so many things I could say about this scene. But I want to say the most is that in this moment Fiona finally got what she wanted in the first movie, A handsome knight, who is her true love, storming the castle astride his brave Nobel steed, fighting his way through, to rescue her.
The man is big, full of layers, got his own house and a bunch of loyal buddies. Charming is just a good-looking manchild who got everything pampered by his mommy.
This scene is still one of the most exciting and genuinely impressive scenes in all of animated cinema. The choreography and tone throughout is enchanting.
Any animator can make regular looking humans. Just is it can possibly take longer to animate very real human features. That and the big heads and eyes of todays animated characters sell more with children and what animated movies also try to sell is toys.
it's hard to make realistic characters look good. if the proportions aren't just right, it will look uncanny and creepy. it can also be somewhat limiting from an animation perspective, as the animators won't be able to manipulate the models as dramatically as they could if they looked more cartoony. I think it's also important to consider the fact that when the first Shrek came out, it was one of the first 3D animated movies ever made (released in 2001. Toy Story was the first 3D animated feature film, and was released in 1995). The medium was still very young and artists were still learning what worked. Also, cartoon characters are easier to market for toy sales.
To add to that Shrek was actually being made IN 1995 and took much development because they wanted Shrek's body shape to fit an actor like Mike Myers, especially after Chris Farley had passed away. You can find the early designs of Shrek online with some models from 1998 that were closer to the Shrek we know today.
I am so thankful that I was old enough to register this movie in my long-term memory. 🙌 I barely have any memories from the first one from when I was a child.
This was masterfully done. Perhaps some of Mike Myers best work. This scene pulls together so many classics at once, from 80s music with Bonnie Tyler's iconic song, to tips of the hat to comedic master Mel Brooks and Monty Python, and even going full on geek with the Godzilla tribute. Just amazing to watch as a child, and even more so as an adult when you can piece everything together.
I have so many good memories with this scene and the one that always sticks out is when the girls of the Footloose cast in high school were jamming out to this before a show. We were all getting ready, the Ariel was helping me do my hair (Still miss them), and one of the girls pulled out her Beats pill and said, "Hey who's holding out for a hero?" And started playing this version of the song we were all singing along the boys were so confused as to why we were all so energetic.
This time, Shrek was indeed the hero saving her from the castle on his trusty steed, from the dragon (Fairy God Mother) who happens to be dressed in red.

Probably one of the best movies of all time
One of the best *sequels* to have ever been made.
This just shows that Shrek is a badass and Fiona was lucky with choosing a true hero
Blanca ❤. Love you 😘
Blanca. Love you 😍
Blanca. Love you 😘
The man is big, full of layers, got his own house and a bunch of loyal buddies. Charming is just a good-looking manchild who got everything pampered by his mommy.
The fairy godmothers vocals are so amazing! I love her ‘regular’ voice when she talks, just absolutely amazing
This scene is as chaotic as glamorous, breathtaking and iconic. Truly its in our hearts for ages
As silly as it sounds, to this day I still cry at MONGO’S “be good!!”
3:12 they incorporated a bit of the Shrek's "hero" theme!
I still watch this everyday and I always shed tears
This scene is still one of the most exciting and genuinely impressive scenes in all of animated cinema. The choreography and tone throughout is enchanting.
I still wonder how they made the humans look like actual humans and not typical animated characters and why we don't see that in any other movies
I think it definitely helped that they used their actual voice actors as reference
this will forever be one of the most iconic moments in animation
No one gonna talk about how the choir was just waiting there for their time to shine.
The change of beat 2:40 always makes me tear up. It was so well done
This film is a goddamn timeless masterpiece!
This song is a banger....years after the movie first released. I love it! Jennifer Saunders is a great singer. 😊❤
1:24 Hit it
I did forget how much fun this scene is to watch!
The moment she says hit it, even kid me knew it was abouta go hard
I just can’t get enough of 2:45 when Fairy Godmother starts singing again. WOW WOW WOW, my favorite part of the song by far!
Jennifer Saunders is a multi talented genius I admire her for how she lives her life.
This movie still lives upto it's greatness today
I have so many good memories with this scene and the one that always sticks out is when the girls of the Footloose cast in high school were jamming out to this before a show. We were all getting ready, the Ariel was helping me do my hair (Still miss them), and one of the girls pulled out her Beats pill and said, "Hey who's holding out for a hero?" And started playing this version of the song we were all singing along the boys were so confused as to why we were all so energetic.
Old farts like myself think of the tractor scene when hearing this song. 😊
This time, Shrek was indeed the hero saving her from the castle on his trusty steed, from the dragon (Fairy God Mother) who happens to be dressed in red.
This scene is what made Shrek 2 the best animated movie ever made
3:40 Mongo Saying Be Good
1:30 Alright big fella, let’s crash this party!
3:28 love this little piano tune after the violin
This is legendary every time I hear this song I think of this movie lol
3:18 that violin tho 🔥
Shrek was so ahead of its time
The build up of ‘like a fire in my blood’ and shrek getting inside the drawbridge! Love that part!!
This song and scene have no business still going THIS hard!!!
The "hit it" always kills me😂😂😂😂
This may just be the greatest movie scene ever and it shouldn't be but it might just be. GO MONGO GO!!!
Avengers Endgame came close to surpassing this ending. But this ending will go down in history as one of the best endings to a movie ever.
Endgame doesn't even come close to the emotion felt watching this as a kid and now..again wow
Have you seen the video that shows the Endgame finale with this music? It’s great.
@@BCPlayz028 doesn't start with a HIT IT so no it isn't ;)
@@BCPlayz028 Yes, it's was epic
@@victorparkinson3316 as epic as Shrek riding a giant cookie while a smaller cookie is on his shoulder breaking into the castle where his wife is being deceived by everyone..all the while you have a cat with epic swordsmanship, donkey turned mane...yeah no..endgame ending was just good period, if you feel otherwise than hey all the power to you but Shrek will always rule
Incredibly creative and the music is great! Glad I saw it!
There isn’t a single part of this that isn’t cool. The dance inside vs the invasion. Mungos sacrifice and Pusses redemption. *chefs kiss*
