Thank you Foreversiblings and Richard :) more will be coming soon :)
I am glad you intend to restore it class act cortinas i have had so many fords
Good luck with it mate, I hope you can restore it to its former glory. Don't let the haters put you off!
love these old cortinas i had 2 years ago was in my 20s 1980 1.6 4 door and 1982 1.3 2 door great to drive mine were manual gear box.... my mate at the time had a 1980 2 door was same as mine a 1.3 but he hated it as was to slow so dropped a 2.3 v6 with manual box was truly fast he ended up keeping it years longer than he was going to.
@@steveni1459 nice matey :) I restore capris , so I sold this to a guy called Addam , he’s restoring it on his Chanel

This car is absolutely worth restoring. The lovely Cologne V6 engine in a Cortina is marvelous.
The engine was is crap . See Mark 2 Granada 2.8 litre crap.
What was crap about the cologne v6 mate@@TC-qd1zw
Top of the range Mk4 Cortina.
Hope you've got the time and dosh to finish these projects. You've plenty on your plate now Jamie!
I know mate lots and lots of rust to sort lol
Keep hold of that glass lense you found in the box, I'll have that off you if your selling!
@@MyJon64 somone wants a pair , but rest up for grabs for sure
I'm now following the car on Adam's channel. Great stuff, thanks for saving it.
Im watching adams channel he's got a massive project on he's garden but he's doing it bits when he can but makes it harder for him that he hasn't got all the expensive tools and workshop but it's getting done slowly and fair play to him as nothing ford is cheap to buy now
Good luck in fixing up this Classic car now, I hope you get it sorted, cant wait to see this finished 😁
Road tax was due February 1991
Last change of keeper October 2000
MOT exempt also! That's a fantastic thing!
Brilliant to think this gem of a car will live again. Cortina is my favourite car. I've had them all, my brother had the 1500gt as well. i wish we had them now.
More coming soon as I can .:)
I remember this car at canal and had been there a very long time. I had work done on my old car by owner of the depot it was stored at. Good luck with this project it definitely a big one.
Fair play to you for tackling that project, can’t wait for the next video. I miss my mark 5 cortina
A Mark 4 2.3 Ghia Estate is rare beast now. Not seen one since the 1990s. I hope this one gets saved. A lot of work to get done.
Looks like an easy fix for you, Mk5 Cortina rear lamps and Mk3 Cortina front lamps, Looking forward to seeing it get fixed up.
Cheers pal
Wow !!!
...
I didn't realize it was a 2.3 Ghia ???
...
Gor you'll work your magic on her the same as "Rusty" mate !!!
...
BIG SMILE
(my "rusty" is just covered under brambles right now lol)
Jeeeeeeeez mate that's a beautiful motor had one back in the day loved it...respect for saving it 😊
good for you, ignore the negative comments, its a lot of work but if you can do it then crack on, you'll regret not trying if you dont.
Enjoyed the video, look forward to seeing the progress, I've had a few cortinas over the years, loved them but they certainly weren't built to last, as welding for every Mot. Great that your preserving one as there getting rarer nowadays. I had my last one back in 91 a 2.0 ghia.
nice to see,you now have emily, with your capri.awsome restorations mate!i had loads of old fords.wish i still had my mk4 cortina 2.3 ghia.manual saloon.gotta get some old fords again.👍👍😀😀
Can’t beat fords , I’ll have my other Capri back on road this week miss driving a ford :)
Looks like another Swampy! Good luck!
going to be a good car when solid.. ignore haters, take's courage to go in deep on these old cars
hahahaha after you said you dont know how much of the car will be left first thing in my mind was you tapping away at the rust and all that was left was a engine and wheels haha im so glad your doing this car all these old cars need saving
YesJamie it's a challenge but my mate bought one a 2,0gl and that was much worse, when trying to open the doors 3 of them fell out out due to the posts being rotten but did get it back on the road, yours is a very rare car.
Lovrly Cosmos Blue and has the original front skirt on too
Good luck with the resto buddy nice to see your not put off by any rust and always see the positive. Must say you've got a few full on on resterations on your hands but by the time there done the value is only gonna increase in my eyes anyway.them cortinaz bring back momerys for me our mom's fellow had them and yes i wittnessd an remember him filling the ach and a dodgy exhaust fix with some beer can cut up lol..them rear lights look mk 5 cortinaz and the clear indicator look like the cortinas with the round head lights or are they side lights. I THINK 👍. Great uploads an look forward to progress bud .👍👊👊👌
Cheers mate one project is very close to being done the turbo capri decided to take all the turbo kit off because it wasn’t completely finished and tig welding gas is expensive Plus I needed other stuff like boost control and finish the top hat for the car so I thought take it off put it back to standard and it should be done within the next week and I can then just enjoy driving her around Then at least I’ve also got one project finished then that’s less stress thinking about it I might sell my VR6 Golf then that’s out of the way then I can focus all my time on Cortina and Capri
@@retrorust3395 makes sense to at least enjoy one off your projects for that bit of motivation and insperation on the others.i seen ya capri the drive way resto.you should be proud mate even just concidering to bring these cars back, all the best to you anyway stay safe and catch you on the nxt one I'll be l👀king forward to 👍👊👌👌
I wish you well on this project. I had a Cortina, had many problems with it, but it was a good work horse carrying many of things.
It’s a Marathon buddy, Jeep the faith,
One mountain at a time leads to all the glory and well done,
Nice colour. Mk5 rear lights and a whole heap of mk3 indicators! Swap for bits you need i reckon. Itll be a big job alright!! Fair play mate keep up the hard work!
Yep most 70s fords in late 80s got banger raced I remember my uncles ford consul 2.5 v6 estate an m reg 73/74 it was scrapped in 84 due to the rot.
Just subbed to your channel im doing a 1964 a35 van that I thought was bad till I saw this I wish you the best of luck hope you see it thought
Mk 4 cortinas unfortunately were notious for rot well done for saving it, lovely car 👍
Thanks pal :) gona be loads of work haha
Never mind mk4 cortinas all fords of that era were rot boxes, Granada’s not quite as bad but whatever is still around now is worth saving, some might be big projects but once done you’ll reap the rewards 😁
@@rustywreck3351 that’s true mate :) thank you
She is beautiful many years of work great fun that would be to keep busy
I am glad you have saved it. So many of these estates get raced. May I suggest (if it hasn't been already) contacting Pete C, he's on YT and has beautifully restored a number of Cortinas. He may be able to help you source parts for yours.
Even Pete wouldn't bother with that one,and it cost him around 20k to do a mk 3
@@chubbyroyston3880 Pete wouldn;t bother because he's not really into the estates though, just mk 3's. But his mk 3's were not much better than this before he restored them. lol.
He has a heated garage and had a lot of help from mad mike etc,but I never saw him take on anything as bad as this capri
@@chubbyroyston3880 You haven't watched his video's then.
@@RandyDarkshade2 that's a bold statement, I've watched ever video he ever put out.
Rear lights a mk5 cortina saloon, all n/s put it back in the garage and get rusty done first, tried doing two projects at once and ended up taking twice as long and more money,I ended up buying stuff twice flitting from one to the other
Keep at it though you'll soon get them done
Good luck with the resto, no easy task by the look of it😲
It's not that bad!! Get on, good luck!!
Blimey mate brave man you are fair play if you can get it done massive take that will be to find all parts and carry out work to get her to her former glory but will deffo be watching
Good luck with this ..hope you do well
Cudos to you Jamie she is a project and a half as others have said double check you are getting mk4 cortina panels and glass as they differ from mk5s that front valance is a mk5 valance not a mk4 so make sure you get the right one and the door cards look like mk5 too but get rusty done first then the Tina.
You should change the channel to addicted to rust. Love the content.
panel replacement is a lot easier and faster than patching just a lot more expensive thats if the panels are readily available, your motivated so the tina will get done, and it looks like the guy you bought the cars from was a mk3 tina fan.
I wish you all the luck in the world with your project mate
Who cares what other people think 💭 once it is all done and back on the road the same people who are slagging you will be sick 🤢 I have subscribed and looking forward to your progress
A few late nights with that one...and a few quid too...but best of luck..and enjoy..👍👍
Just a bit of rot here and there it is a ford you know. I was only 13 when this car was made so it's an old bugger ha,fair bit of stash there too nice one.ime sure you'll make a nice solid car out of this your work is brill mate good luck!
I'm a subscriber and am looking forward to the Capri restoration. However, don't kid yourself - this car is far too gone.
Big big job 💪
At the end of the day it’s getting saved. I say the same I don’t drink or smoke that’s why I’ve got 5 cars. The wife smokes 5 to 6 packs a week which is about £60 😂
That probably covers the cost of his unit he's renting!
wow looking at this video again lol a lot as changed since then wow even the underbody looks great now after i have done all the work :) so strange watching this now
@@AdamSNook. bet it is matey lol will
Come see u soon
i don't think this this is worse than the capri, i recon its about the same. Try and see if it starts. As for wiring, you could ask the cortina groups. not sure if you could use a sierra loom even.
Good luck you do like hard work. Hate goes off to you 👍❤️🔧🚗
Rear lights look like cortina mk5 rear lights
Remember mate the mk5 cortina windscreen and doors are different from the m4 cortina even bonnet in case your going to restore the cortina.I think you should restore it Pete c can help you with panels
Fair play to u mate ,, how much was it?
Power train subframe worth a lot. Money for 2.9 v6 conversion
Would be interesting to see how much is left after acid dipping
I agree with your dad? (It is your dad with you?) it is bad, but I have seen way worse brought back. Look up Pete C on YT and check out his "Bramble" restoration series. Just because something is bad, doesn't mean it's impossible. Emily here is an Estate (in a state lol, sorry couldn;t resist it) and estates are not common, in fact every time I see a classic tina or granada it's always been a saloon. Concentrate on one project at a time. Looking forward to seeing the progress on the capri and Emily. (why Emily? :) )
I don’t know I needed a name haha and Capri needs a different name aswell tbh but people know her as rusty
Another project for you pal those tail lights are for a mk5 cortina...
Before I started to drive my brother in law had 2.0 Ghia saloon mk 5 X reg same colour but unfortunately was sold to cousin which was caught fire while he was driving due to electrical fault. Was total loss
Wow I seen some rotten cars, but this one is next level. Good luck mate, you're gonna need it. I'll certainly make a nice 'sister' to the Capri.
Hes right shud be out then push in take back panel off go in from that way my dad had 2 cortina estates
i think those lights are of a cortina salloon
Hi Jamie well this is a lot worse than the capri! Your a brave man well I said that when you got the capri but even I was shocked at how bad this cortina is. Anyway good luck with whatever you decide to do with it and good luck with the bigger unit.
Had a GL model 2.3 V6. The Koln engine was crap, to me anyway. Preferred the Essex engines.
I would put it in that garage and leave it until you have finished the capri then do this one, if it's in the same unit you are going to get side tracked and make life difficult for yourself. Also please don't stick a v8 in, that's very original with a light patina and would be nice to keep it that way.
Rear lights are off mk5 cortina
Don't you ever wonder what is in the garage's where weeds have over taken the doors?
Rear lights ~ mk5 cortina saloon.
You should’ve got a bigger unit anyway in the first place instead of getting that one that one’s too small so I need a lot of big unit specially to get three cars in skin specially with Capri Cortina and Pary
No way! These cars are worth 5k if that, in good condition. You’ll pay that in storage, whilst you finish the Capri. Let it go. It’s a nail.
Buy a better one, for peanuts. Long-roofs are pants.
Ok bro , strip it ( as in gut it)
every thing , & get it dipped
then you know what you
have & don't have to fix it
😀 all the way from sunny Melbourne Australia lol.
people seem to be missing the point, he's not restoring them for financial gain, he just really wants to save these cars as he's always liked them since seeing them years ago.
…but if he’s doing it for posterity, he could easily find better examples… he will use a couple of 5ft tall welding gas bottles, at £150 a throw, plus rental per year, a mile of wire, numerous expensive repair panels, and workshop rent per month. It’s like he’s chosen the worst basket case in Britain. I’m sorry for saying this, but there has be some rational thinking before you start buying repair panels, and hacking apart the body. If he sold this car to a banger racer, and put the money to a better example, of which there are plenty if you look…he could have more of his life spent enjoying driving it, than grinding it! He owes his UA-cam fan base nothing… it’s not a duty to attempt this mammoth task… if it was say, the last ever built, or the only one with this unusual spec, then possibly… but there were, and still are plenty of them. Just because they were oarked next to each other, means nothing. This will cost a fortune, not just in cash, but his own time, and sanity. It’s not like anyone is sponsoring him… and UA-cam revenue won’t be enough I’m sure. People might encourage him, without knowledge of the road ahead… but I know, because I do this work all the time. It’s a nail!
@@johnboyairey just let the boy get on doing what he enjoys without telling him what he should or shouldn't be doing
@@chancerdancer8265 … watching him angle grind without a disc guard, and jack the Capri rear, and rest the rotten floor on little scraps of wood, on axle stands… is just plain dangerous.. I can’t watch, with knowledge, of what could happen without saying something..… it’s so risky working as he does. I fear the worst could happen. We were watching him welding the Scorpio, and blowing out fires on the floor… Many people can use the info and methods on their own cars, and kill themselves getting underneath wrecks. You need to display some form of safe working, if you want to be a social media influencer… safety is not expensive… buying something safer, is easier too. Some people need to hear a bit of reality.
I have say, this cortina is so rotten, did you watch when he peeled back the rear floor carpet, and the seatbelt mount was rusted, to the carpet! Not the floor! Have another watch!
get the job dun my good man a lot of work but if anyone can do it its you
I would ask Pete c at Cortina city's advice save the car if you can can't be many about
You should of bought it sooner keep it up
I think someone is turning into a hoarder.
Stancer on hydraulics
Understand why you wanted to buy this , it's yours now and that's the main thing .
I understand why you want the Cortina and admire your efforts to get it. But really I think you should have left the car with Aaron. He is well known within Cortina circles and would have made sure many of the useable parts went on to save and keep other cars on the road.
I know what you mean , but once the cars gone it’s gone , this way it still kind of remains lol
@@retrorust3395 yeah I understand that. Anything is possible with enough time, effort and money I guess. If you've ever watched Pete C's videos you'll see what's possible. But I just think this one is sadly too far gone.
@@fredjones1238 It’s not nobody wanted it he wouldn’t sell them , untill lately
!!!
@@fredjones1238 I wasnt saying it cant be restored because with enough money and time anything can. And yes I follow the drunken car restorer already.
Do the underneath and leave the top at is
I seriously thought about it 😂
Was gonna watch!,but sorry I don’t like estates,shame though🙁🙁
Carnt hear you very well when your not close to the camera or gopro
That are off the Mk5
No it’s rotten that’s more rotten than what the praise you should’ve done the Capri up first then done that then got that Vandament get that as well as the Capri do one at first and get another one and if you wanna plan
Cortina daganhem rotbox designed to recycle themselves
The air boxes are very brittle so you'll need to be careful removing it mate but that car is bad
No way can that be restored.its completely rotten..
Parts car wud find a better shell bud . Done bodywork for 30 years and wud never conceder trying that bud good look
Holy shit that cars rotten as a pear ! My advice to u is do one car at a time and don’t listen to people saying that it’s doable lol 😂 it’s fucked everywhere , if it’s like that on top then there will be termites holding hands holding it together underneath ! It’s a money pit and not exactly a desirable model even once it’s mint , but ….. it’s your car and yours to do as u wish so I guess time will tell good luck 🤞
Way to far gone would cost more than it's worth to do that
Son you should look at this failed cortina and tell yourself it needs to be broken up, it's just a complete rotbox. Keep all the running gear and bits and bobs that you can resell then get your mate to take it to the junkyard. Even if you did manage to fix her up it wouldn't be the same car because you will have to change nearly every panel, and can you imagine how much it will cost you. Just stick with rusty yes you have got your work cut out with that car as well but she's not as bad. But I might as well talk to the wall because I know how you tick LOL you won't listen to me or anyone.
I’ll do what I’m doing with the Capri , repairs then panels much as I can , she is a rot box but she won’t be once I’ve fixed her up , :D one bit at a time :)
Scrap mate
if that was a boat it wouldnt flout to many holes
If you don't restore that you're a big pansy lol
