ELECTRIC CALLBOY - CRYSTALS REACTION
#reactionvideo #reaction #reactionchannel #reacting #electriccallboy
#hypahypa
short story: EC started in 2010 with frat party vulgar lyrics doing popular back then electrocore like attack attack. as time went, one of the singers (sushi, clean & harsh vocals) wanted to go more dark/emo/serious so their vibe changed a bit. the rest of the guys weren't completely onboard which led to conflicts in the studio and sushi leaving/being kicked out and nico joining in his place (clean vocals, kevin now does all harsh vocals in the studio, both do both live). with that, they went back to their partycore roots and released hypa hype and it went from there.
sushi formed a solo project, ghøstkid, which is quite good.
Sushi did not really have to form the Ghøstkid Band..as in big parts it is Nico old Band… so the two bands kind of just swapped their singers.
If you want to hear what it sounds like with the new singer, they performed it in the online Wacken Show (look for Electric Callboy - 3 Songs - Live at Wacken World Wide 2020 - it's the second one
) - it sounds a bit different :)
100% recommended!!! And the only change is Nico for Sushi as the lead "singer", Kevin was always there... the screamer / shouter! ^^
@@EbizzerHH Kevin used to be background screamer. Now he is the main screamer because Nico doesn't really scream.
Yep they changed the singer not the screamer
The new guy Nico has his audition online it's a acoustic version of thier song Prism and they have performed it live its pretty good.
Electric callboy was already working on the new stuff before the new singer but the old one wasn't onboard
The first new songs with Nico are hypa hypa and Love/Hate i think
Damnnnnn that's what's up!!!
I first heard them with sushi is anyone up is still one of my favorites
I love them then and now 🖤
This is considered their heaviest and most serious song, so not really standard "old EC". But, admittedly, they were mostly standard metalcore, just with a humorous attempt though. VIP (2017) was one attempt to try different styles and the fanbase was not pleased. For me personally, as someone who discovered them (and my ear for metal in general) after the release of Hypa Hypa, it's one of my favourites from the Sushi era, along with We Are The Mess (2013).
The dark figure in the video is Dixi Wu, the harsh vocalist of To The Rats And Wolves (Nico's, sorry, Mario's previous band).
Thank you so much for sharing this mate! We learned a lot from you 🙏
Same. And "Best Day" with Sido.
They always were funny with serious songs in between. And they still are (Mindreader, Parasite, Hate/Love). Just check out Muffin-Purper Gurk (the title refers to a Chevrolet add) and We Are The Mess (a song with an identical structure as Hypa Hypa) from the first 2 albums.
This is still one of my favorite EC-songs. That jumpy bridge is awesome (even more so live), as is the LoG-style breakdown.
I am totally with you! Now they are unique and Something Special in their own way :)
They switched singers because the old one quit. But the others are the same. The first song they came out with when they had their new singer (Nico), was Hypa Hypa. What a debut and what a change of vibes.
They have a few old songs that are kind of towards their "new" style. Like MC Thunder. Deeply recommend watching that one and then the sequel (MC Thunder II).
They still play some of their old ones at their concerts. Like "Best Day" - one they did with probably the most well known rapper in Germany. Still clueless how they made that feature happen. They liked to experiment with styles back then too. But you're right. A lot of them were pretty generic.
Thanks Daniel! Some awesome info right here 🙏
Love the old school EC ❤️
They have a song from this era, "Best day of my live", which they perform with a German rapper named Sido. It's worth listening to, it's the only thing playing in my headphones at work all day.
Anyway, thanks for the reaction and your work!
"...Here, they were just, like, that genre. Now, they are their own thing..." Could not be better put.
Sushi leaving and Nico joining EC was the best thing to happen to everyone involved. Nico is a MUCH better vocalist and Kevin gets to shine more as a shouter instead of just being background support. Nico also kills the vocals on the old songs. Saw them live a few weeks ago and they performed a couple of old songs as well. MC Thunder is absolutely bonkers live. They can still do serious stuff but they seem to have more freedom to make the music they all enjoy, not just their lead singer.
And yet there are still a handful of Sushi-fanboys whining that EC was a much better band with the old line up and Sushi was a better singer 😂
Even if it's obvious bs. You can totally see and hear it's much better now.
Overall Nico is a better fit though I think Sushi's screams sounded cooler than Kevin's now but Otherwise electric callboy now is better.
But nothing beats the album Bury Me in Vegas 😅

Old singer wasn't really a fan of the music they started to make when they released the scene album. He even told in interviews that some songs he hated in the album when promoting the album. He mentioned song Frances. He is a full on metal head so when the band wanted to go lighter he wasn't into it and then after it you could notice that he just stopped trying with the songs. It worked out in the end. He went to create a new band called ghostkid(its pretty good. He could go full on serious and heavy like he couldn't do with electric callboy ) and electric callboy got Nico.
Listen to their older stuff like "Muffin purper gurk" or " is anyone up" and you will see that they wasn’t so serious haha
I appreciate your analysis. Very interesting take on this song. ❤
And we appreciate you for stopping by 🙏❤️
"Over the years I have learnt not to kill myself" xD After how much kills you were enlightened? :D
Next you guys need to listen to mcthunder and mcthunder2 afterwards. The First ist with the old lineup and the second with Nico, the new singer
Keep up the good the good videos, really enjoying it 👍
I feel like they just have a better balance now and you can see that everybody is in it and not just doing it because they have to.
@Loop2React you should check out Ghostkid is the band of the old singer.
Same Band as now. The singer didn't like the stuff they wanted to do and left the Band. He is doing music by himself now (GhostKid). His songs are pretty good. Electric Callboy searched for a new singer and Nico joined them
Mario and Luigi 😂
Great reaction!
For my personal taste this one is a bit too theatrical, but it's a masterpiece for sure. As far as I know the lyrics are a allegory for addiction, but I love your interpretation of the video!
The woman is Ronnie's live in girlfriend Saraya (former WWE champion Paige) btw.
Please check out The Drug In Me Is Reimagined by Falling in Reverse.
Subbed!
Greetings from Germany
Better than their new stuff lol.
Finally:D react to muffin purper gurk as well pls
I was dying when you kept calling them Mario and Luigi. Their older stuff, also not my fav. Their current sound is so much better and of course more fun.
Yessirrrrrr hahah
The band here is all the same guys, except the singer. yes, they were a fairly generic but well-regarded scenecore band for the first ten years of their career. But back in 2020 the band made a conscious decision to go more upbeat and humorous for a lot of their new material. The singer was not interested in that and he left.
His new stuff as Ghostkid is very good.
I always dislike the old EC(mostly because of their old singer Sushi). It was their best decicion to get rid of him, because Kevin said in some interviews he was always against the music they're successful with now. And as Nico is a much better singer they have much more options with him. Only listen to their old songs if it's a live performance with Nico (I skip everything just to hear you both talk). They are so much more a band now and it's not a Sushi-Ego-Show anymore - mostly noticeable with Kevin who was just a background-screamer back then. Glad you feel the same way about them being so much better now.
Respect Jana! Thank you so so much for your comment! We're learning so much from these comments 🙏
@@Loop2React I'm not an expert on that topic :D. I would really like if you can compare Nico's(eh Mario's) old band To the Rats and Wolves with the old EC - they toured together back then and I personally like TTRAW much more. Would love to hear your opinion 🙂
Fun fact (for me) is that I dislike TTRAW's screamer as much as Sushi. Wasn't that bad that they stop making music together and Mario joined EC while Sushi started his new solo project with a couple of ex TTRAW members. EC is now amazing and unique and the rest is... yeah 😂
Yes, Kevin said that the whole band wanted to move on to another sound and back to the old times when they just had fun with some funny songs. But Sushi just wanted to keep doing standard Metalcore with sad lyrics. And it's ok to write sad songs if you are sad but you can't be sad all the time just because one person wants to be. That's why they replaced Sushi with Nico and it's prob the best decision they ever made. They are now headlining festivals with 30,000 people like the Rocco del Schlacko and selling out the Lanxess Arena. They would have stayed a filler band at festivals if they kept catering Sushi.
@@omadduxo You can basically say Sushi nearly ruined the band - as it just didn't work for them to be a sad and aggressive emo band. As Kevin said: he can't wait to leave the studio and go home.
And five against one told you also everything you need to know. Just look at how happy they all are now 😍
And with Sushi I don't think there would be a drum solo for David or extra applause for Daniel at the accustic gituar and Kevin could've stayed home. So all of them could shine now with Nico totally supporting it.
Besides the fact if they still would be around with the old line up you are absolutely right - they still would've been that "shitty" band no one really like.
# fcksushi:)
@@JanaB.89 I guess current EC doing TTRAW covers would be a wet dream for you then! 😂 I have to admit, I wouldn't say no to that either! That being said, I was totally unaware of them until Nico joined EC and I went back to find out what he did before. 😊
Honestly I love Sushi (the original singer) and out of all the songs older and newer Crystals is my favorite song they've ever made! Nico is a good singer but Sushi destroys Nicos screams. He does go by Ghostkid now and his new material is phenomenal ❤ and I honestly liked Nicos voice is better in his old band To the Rats and Wolves but that's my opinion! Should definitely check them out😊 good reaction tho
