Blind Guardian are there since 1984 and are one of THE metal bands in Europe! They are still around and touring and will be headliner again in Wacken 2024!
Wacken is Europe's biggest metal festival based in northern Germany! About 80.000 metal fans will be there.
For me the voice of their singer Hansi Kürsch is one of the best in metal! Fun Fact: he used to be the bass player in Blind Guardian and startet singing because they needed a singer!
Since their last album Johan van Stratum is on the bass!

That is not how it happened, André brought Hansi in because he heard him sing and he wanted Hansi to sing in his band. Hansi was not as confident in that and so he joined as a bassist and got roped into singing later.

@@stephsteph4574 It is alright! I was hyperfixated on Blind Guardian for 2 months, the creation of the band is permantly burned into my brain haha. Yep he was indeed playing the bass until Nightfall In Middle Earth where he quit because the music became too complicated for him to keep up with his bass. So he quit playing the bass to focus on developing his voice.

Especially with the Bard's Song... in the forrest.
I think there are even instances when Hansi sung even less than in this clip for the song.

hi guys, it was funny to hear a reaction of the song valhalla it is from 1994. so yes it sounds old school :-). hope you do more blind guardian plz. great reaction as always.

"Valhalla" is on "Follow the Blind", their second studio album - so it's actually from 1989 and hence 35 years old already. The band celebrate their 40th anniversary this year. ;-)
Reaction was fine although one could notice that they don't know a lot about European metal and its origins (which BG is a huge part of), so they probably felt more comfortable talking over the music. That's fine, not everybody has to like the same bands - and I'm taking a guess here but they're probably from the US, so their exposure to European rock & metal may have been limited and they might be more familiar with bands they grew up with (Korn & all that stuff). Nonetheless, great to have them react to such gems at all.

oh, and Lars Ulrich is not in the same league as this one. But to know this you should hear their more progressive songs from the last 15 years and not a song from the 80`s. He does things with his drums Lars doesn`t even dream of and I really like Lars and Metallica!

I can think of two good sardinian drummers: efisio pregio (vexillum) and raphael saini (vision of atlantis, iced earth)

Blind guardian still make great albums to this day. But for me their first 5 are what invented power metal. Not surprising that those 2 songs came from that era.

On bass is Barend (bear) Courbois, a great musician and a genuine nice man! He now is in Micheal Schenker group.
I checked your vid’s and was missing a project where Hansi has been a part in for years now: Ayreon. The day that the world breaks down is the usual introduction for reactors. Btw. Hansi is a wonderful hugger :)

thumbs up from me,am a girl drummer, i think ur friend was being polite. let him watch the moovie with the drummer who has to throw 400ds , then make him review this again. and just look at him. for fun. sry, not very ,but, its a tough job to b the drummer. basic qualifications would be , u need torture and ur agression wants to hit something. did I get that right? in this case, blind guardian, every band member was given a part.
b/c it was their last performance at woA , which they helped to grow to that festival level. I was there 2nd yr, they sucked. just saying. I was more concerned with tractors and ,mud. stupid weather. c"est la vie.
