  • What is a Grumichama Tree? It's a medium sized tree native to Brazil, sometimes called a Brazilian Cherry Tree. Our Gramichama tree is doing so well in the food forest part of The Green Yard. Hopefully next year we get some fruit but at least this year there are three to four inch shoots of new growth. Learn more about the different types of amendments, watering schedule and planting structure that I used to get these results.

Hello, thank you for watching and commenting! Here in the Phoenix area our Grumichama trees do require afternoon shade as a protection from our intense summer sun. I have yet to have my tree fruit, I'm hoping it does for the first time this spring. I have heard that a few other growers have gotten it to fruit while getting the afternoon shade, which is from 10-11am and on. I actually trimmed back my shade tree this last summer to allow the tree to get more sun and it got pretty sun burned. I'm hoping the extra sun will help it fruit this next year though. If it does I will definitely update my comment.
