  • Ever wondered how to grow a cashew tree? Wonder no more, in this video you will learn everything you need to know about growing your own cashew tree AND if you stick to the end, you will also learn how to propagate one from seed!
    Cashew Tree Growing Tips:
Best time to plant: When night temperatures are at least 50F and expected to rise in the next month or so.
Sun: Direct sun until about 100F. Hotter temps, you will need shade. Do not grow in full shade.
Winter: Cold sensitive. Low 30F's, it will get damaged, 20F's it will get destroyed even bigger trees.
Tree Structure: Single trunk with a wide canopy. About 8-12ft tall, shorter in cooler areas and bigger in warmer areas.
Root system: Shallow, fibrous roots. Safe to plant around structures.
Water: Water very frequently, do not let dry when it's hot!.
Fruiting/Flowering: It flowers early summer and fruits ripen sometime in the fall. Trees grown from seed can take up to 2 years to flower.
Pollination: Self-pollinating, you only need 1 tree to get fruit.
Fertilization: Any slow release fertilizer will work in containers. Planted trees, plain compost and mulch is all you will ever need.
Container growing: This plant does well in a container long term due to its roots system. We actually recommend you to keep it potted due to its cold sensitivity.
Personal Growing Tips: This tree grows fast!. Don't get complacent and think just because your tree is huge, it will tolerate the cold better. That's a sure way to kill your plant. Extremely hard to over water as long as you provide drainage. Patreon: patreon.com/QCTropicals (Exclusive perks!)

ooo Love it!! ;z) ( well being in 100% humidity, and it never ever goes below 30 here! looks like the cashew i am going to get 3f tall lil baby is going to be perfect ;z)) ( i mean in this SW fl. coastal zoe.. there are a lot of plants that just like this range'.. like I can have very happy bananas.. , star fruit trees, angel trumpets.. all have 0 frost tollerence.. ( but it's not warm enough here for Kewi ie) SO not in the Desert).. WILL it die if it floods more then 2 days..??) yes 'roots rot and die', i understand that very much.. ( killed all avacado trees here that were not planted high and dry in mounds above the water table which will in middle of summer now-- (litterally banana trees jumped to 12feet tall in a year or 2.. from 1f' lol.. but ( 'i drained the swamp with a 'french drain'.. .. (before mint couldn't live here it was to wet'.. now it does..' so i think it'll drain well enough.. ( & i think your point about fertilizer/soil... sounds like i want a normal-to acidic mulch shrugs* -- keep it up.. (making food forest.. ( adding cashew and bay leaf tree in a week-or -2

@@sanityisnofun It takes a really long time to die from over watering, certainly longer than 2 days :). I wouldn't worry too much about the water as long as you have drainage. In your area it should be able to tolerate more sun due to your tropical temperatures.
