The Mustang is one of life's great rock stars. It started out very simple and yet hugely popular but by the 1970's had let the whole rock and roll style get out of hand and excess had took it's toll so by the mid 70's found itself in rehab and having to slim down and start over. By the 80's it was very quiet and pretty much just blended in as much younger and different cars had by then come along. But by the mid 90's people were taking notice again and it was willing to put on big shows again.... so here we are now where the Mustang has got nothing to prove, it has the history, it has made all those records and can now simply sit back in old age and do what it does best.... Sing, shout and Rock'n'Roll.
I gotta admit cars nowadays are easier to drive, more comfortable and more reliable but they just don't do anything for me. An older car has a personality new cars are just lacking.
I love these old shows waxing nostalgia. Quentin would freak at the new GT350R. More performance, more everything. Sure the old Mustang was fun. But against the new Mustang and Camaro, and Challenger. No contest.
Whilst I do agree with you on cars being better in ye days gone by, but newer cars are certainly not lacking in the performance area. Maybe 10 years ago, but not now.
Many people deride and mock the cars of the past.Having driven most "Classics" and then later suffer "modern" cars,I can truly say the cars of 20-30 years ago (and much further back) are far superior to their successors.The problem with modern cars is their lack luster performance.The result of tighter emissions regulation necessitating strangling catalytic converters and economy fuel injection.The excessive use of cheap plastic makes matters worse,plus they all look alike with no individuality.
Hired a Mustang 2 in 1981 for a week in Battle Creek - an utterly miserable piece of rubbish! It is surely amazing that it has taken Ford decades to get back to a car which clearly is of Mustang lineage unlike the 90s rubbish at the end of the video! What were they thinking through all those years of failure?
Great mustangs, USA is not the greatest democracy, take note, all countries have a system, democracy is what you make it, even from classical Greece, plato, etc, etc, etc.!

if you ever look to buy one do one thing first look into the cowl vent area with a remote camera, for sure, the Mustang killer cowl rust.
