Great video, this game deserves way more love than it gets. Also some very specific, mostly useless facts: while most of serious sam's sounds are typical stock sounds (Sound Ideas Series 4000 & 6000, Universal Studios Sound Effects, Holywood Edge Premiere Edition 1+), some of them come from lesser known stock. in particular: Teleporting sound: Best Service - Science Fiction, Track 67 (second sound) Serious skate pickup sound: Best Service - Robots & Computers, Track 08 (eleventh sound) Next Encounter netrisca beep: Best Service - X-FX, Track 60 (third sound) (or on AKAI version: Partition D->21 CONCONTR1->CCTRL03XFX)
Great video, as always. Your original Next Encounter review was how I learned about this series in the first place, I saw it when it still had the Tom Waits intro.
Starting from the fact that I have been a huge fan of Serious Sam since the Demo that came out before TFE, I must say that I LOVE your channel. You're great at both stating the facts and making them interesting and unfortunately for me your videos have become the reason why I've gained 2kg (I watch them at night while eating biscuits lmao) However, beyond the biscuits, I sincerely thank you for carrying forward Serious Sam in the year of the Lord 2024. It is a saga that should not be forgotten and I HIGHLY HOPE that we will see a Serious Sam 5 in the future. And I hope, of course, that you won't stop bringing us Serious Sam videos!
Giant Hornet exists in the final version of the game and can be spawned but no AI functions. Cut powerups do exist in the final version of the game but not functioning correctly. The PS2 cut levels screenshots are from Nigmas and the codes are from me. The screenshots come from SeriousZone community so thanks to community existing. Also Borman shared a lot of info there aswell.

Would have been god tier if the GCN original supported keyboard controls with that ASCII controller with a full keyboard between two halves of a controller.
man i remember you had a vid i loved way back years ago with your old intro about one of the prerelease builds of the og game but i cant find it here or on the archive anymore. shame, i miss it
No. We've seen snippets of the initial pitch document, which is like, the earliest available record, written in 2001, and the first chapter is already Ancient Rome, while Greece is nowhere to be seen. The SE1 test map, seen on 2:19, is sometimes referred to as "CaesarsCompletex". That's also one of the earliest records. From what we could gather, Greece being the first chapter was nothing more than a misunderstadning.
It really sucks that this game never came out on PC or that no one has been able to do a faithful port. I played it a couple of years ago through Dolphin and I really liked it but the whole time I was just thinking how much I wanted it natively on PC. Hopefully someday it might happen. (fingers crossed)
TSE and TFE are public, Sam2000's isn't. For NE, some snippets were shared by Borman on his twitter and SeriousZone, while the rest has been distributed privately from various sources.
You should make a video on the spin off versions of serious sam that were sold in eastern europe & central asia as legit CD sequels (such as serious sam: the mummy)!
Ah yes, the Sonic CD of the Serious Sam series. One that feels very much like a midpoint between Serious Sam 1 and 2 and also feels a little off, as if something was moved a few inches to the left. Also the only game in the series that isn't popular in Russia, lol. I kinda skipped this one because lol consoles, but it's this very video that made me realize that yup, it is time. Especially considering how I just started to get into emulating games on my mobile and this is exactly the kind of game I want for it: light on story, high on action. Just made it past the Temple of Neptune. Man, Sam games should go for more diverse historical/geographical settings.
you can't ignore Serious Sam forever, NightDive. This game could use an updated re-release
I never knew this game existed, I'd love a remastered version on PC.
@@SeriousSacor You and me both brother
@@SeriousSacor Honestly, yes I wanna see them do a remaster pc port of this game just like they did with Doom 64.
a port of the xbox version on pc by NightDive would also be nice as a combo package
Frame is doing more Sam content! Yay!
I got bad news
Every time you upload a Serious Sam video, my itch for the games is coming back. Keep it up!
Time to play TSE on Serious difficulty again!

"A mysterious game in the Serious Sam series" is one heck of a tongue twister
A really great overview of the unused and wacky stuff in the game, great job Frame!
Great video, as always.
Your original Next Encounter review was how I learned about this series in the first place, I saw it when it still had the Tom Waits intro.
I love your Serious Sam videos, they are always excellent.
Next encounter is pretty good would love it if they ported it to pc.
I love your work so much, I've been waiting for a video on Next Encounter's pre-release content for a while. keep it up!
Wow this vid released right before I have my meal. Won't have to search long for what to watch whilst eating now!
7:50 That "Tongue Harpy" immediately made me think of Aphex Twin's "Windowlicker" which might even explain the long tongue!
Lol yeah I also thought of that. The main harpy enemies in the game have a similar look too.

There were plans for a HD version of Next Encounter? Damn
Bring the Next Encounter to PC is our version of: Please give us Bloodborne for PC... and I want both!!!
The blurb on the back must have been made early in development.
Frame with new SS content, now that's a serious treat.
Ultimately it looks like a gmod featuring Serious Sam.

I think it's just me, but Next Encounter Sam on the cover looks a bit like Jackie Chan from, of course, Jackie Chan Adventures.
Bro I'd love a PC port just for what mods could do with it
YES MORE THE NEXT ENCOUNTER!!!

I don't even care about serious sam, but I enjoy how passionate you are for the series.
I used to confuse Serious Sam Next Encounter with Serious Sam 2. I'm not very smart.
Seriously great stuff

I assume the FeatherDuster drill would use the same laughing animations and sounds as the laughing gas for the chemical thrower.
09:04 is that the Serious Sam 3 minigun turret idle sound? 😂
I didn't notice that, you might be right actually. No editing, that's the sound it used in the prototype.
@@FrameRaterWorth mentioning, no? Very funny none the less. 😄
Keep up the great work!
It's it actually known how Climax got the license to make a SS game ?
Presumably through Global Star Software, the publisher.
Thanks my dude 😊👍🏼
Apparently the Roman levels were originally supposed to be set in Greece.

Best serious Sam ever in my opinion, next encounter
I played it on pc(cough cough) last year or this one early it was pretty fun
where can I find early builds of next encounter?
Sadly they're not public.
I actually love tne, my only issue with it is the subpar soundtrack, if damjam composed for it it would have slapped harder
Yes more Serious Sam
Is the NE HD mod dead by this point ?
Do you only do Serious Sam videos?
Serious Sam, Rayman, retro tech and whatever else is on my mind really.
